I think maybe with older babies you're not supposed to lift them up out of the cot, you settle them in the cot and pat them. That is what I understood. I haven't actually tried it myself but that's what I understood from the programme.

If she is laughing in her cot then just leave her there. You pick them up only if they are distessed, to comfort them. All the while they are content you let them stay lying down. I never had any success with this method, but did have a lot of success comforting my four month old in the cot without picking him up, applying the same principles of stopping comforting the moment he calmed and comforting him again the moment he became upset. I now put him in his cot awake and he takes himself off to sleep. Good luck!

Thanks guys! When I saylaughing in her cot, she's quite happy but keeps getting up, sitting and standing.... but she's not crying. She just wont stay lying down! It doesn't matter whether I comfort her or not, she does exactly the same constantly; gets up and grins at me! Grrrr...... :-)

She'll wear herself out eventually, but you may get some tears before then! My son is not at the age he can stand up yet, but I find if I look in on him he starts laughing and kicking his legs about, so he thinks it's a game too! I find when he's like that it's best to leave him to amuse himself. He usually calms down after a little while and goes to sleep. But the more I go into the room the more excited he gets.

That's exactly the same as me! Thanks tons.... I was wondering if it's because she's teething... I think I said before, but she used to be great at going to sleep on her own in her cot. It's only since her first 2 teeth have come through that she's playing up..... Thanks for all your advice!
