hi ladies
My son is a VERY restless sleeper and I have recently tried to cut out his 12 o' clock night feed as he wasn't taking a good breakfast and is6mths so should be getting out of habit. first night was great but since it's been a night mare. how long should i give it??? i have been doing it 4 days and close to backing down. advice on generally getting him too settle a bit more needed too. he goes down no problem and doesnt actually wake most nights just tosses and moans in sleep. hope this post isnt too rushed. Thank you in advance..

hi Fallen i have 2 boys and another baby due in oct.I used to feed Tyler at midnight and then wait till morning about 6 for his next feed. But eventually we gradually fed him earlier so in the end he was fed at 10 o clock and then gradually 8 o clock by the time he was 1 he was having his last bottle at about 7 and sleeping all night till about 8 in the morning. As your baby gets older he will not need the night feed so late as he will be filling up during the day.I would just gradually try it a bit earlier each night. He still is too young to go all evening without a feed. Both of my boys were always hungry and still are.Dylan is 3 and Tyler is 16 mths they both have a drink of milk before bed and sleep all night (usally)although lately tyler has been waking up and wanting milk to help him get back to sleep. He uses milk as a confort as he still has it in a bottle at night and i still walm it up for him!!!!!!Your son will try and make you back down and give in to him with extra feeds but you just have to continue with your new way and he will eventually learn that theres no point waking up or moaning in the middle of the night as there wont be more milk. Its really hard and i was told off by my health visitor for giving Tyler too many milk feeds when he woke up at night.By 6 mths they should only be having a certain amount of milk and should be going through the night.Good luck with him and keep up what you are doing!!
