hello !

I had my first baby by c section as after 23 hours of labour i was only 6cm and the baby (joshua) turned back to back. I am now due to have no 2 this week and wondered if anyone has had a successful normal delivery after a c section. I am hearing all sorts of horror stories about scars tearing and all my friends who had natural births say I am mad not to have an elective "c" as its an easier option. Naturally I am quite nervous !

Any advice would be welcome !!

I look forward to hearing from you.

HI, i personally think you would be mad to have another c-section. I had my first son 6 years ago by emergency c-section. I have since gone on to have 3 more babies all natural deliveries. Having my last three children was a wonderful experience... no getting away from the pain of course but within an hour i was up and having a shower and within 6 hours i was back at home bonding with my baby and feeling far more comfortable because i was at home. After having my c-section i was in hospital for 5 days and so sore i felt barely able to move let alone cuddle my baby and properly bond. I felt like it took me at least two months to 100% recover.. Given the choice i would always choose natural over c-section. ( with my last baby i even managed without any drugs... not even gas and air!) The risks of you your previous c-section scar are so minimal in fact as a c-section is major surgery i would say that is the riskiest option especially as previous c-sections can leave scar tissue. And best of all is the sense of achievment and how proud you'll be of yourself when you hold your baby for the first time and realise you did all that hard work by yourself! Just to end... Good luck and congratulations for when you baby is born. x x x

thank you !!

thats good to hear - i also found it took ages to recover completely after the c section and feel that with a 2 year old it would be very difficult - I hated not driving too ! I live in hope after hearing from you ! So fingers crossed and counting down to the big day - anytime from Thursday ! Think I'll stop after this one though - Id like more but am getting too old !

Thanks again !

hi leo i have never had a c section but do know (from baby programmes)that lots of women have successful natural births after c sections. At least you can then say that you tryed rather than not ever knowing if you could of done it.I have given birth to 2 large babies and trust me the healing process is so much easier.I only know its hard as my auntie has had 3 c sections and seemed to find it more harder which each one.Good luck anyway and whatever way you deceide to have your baby i hope it all goes ok.
