Oh girls I need some advice before I lose my marbles!

for the past 2 nights Damien has woken up at 3am ish full of the joys and will not go back to sleep! He will stay awake right through until his morning nap at 9ish!

He seems to be fine on sod all sleep but me & Dh are definitely not!!

He only naps for about 2 1/2 hrs each day so he isnt sleeping too much and he eats like a horse so it isnt hunger. I changed his nappy so its not that. He isnt too hot or too cold so it isnt that. I am totally at a loss so any advice would be hugely appreciated.

i know you may not want to hear it chick but it might just be phase that he's going through.

Apparently as babies reach milestones (weaning, crawling, sitting etc) they are more prone to wake up at night because they're so excited with themselves.

Sounds mad doesn't it but unfortunately there mightnot be anything you can do to stop him doing it other than sit it out and wait for the phase to pass.

good luck chick x

I was soooo scared it would be something like that! He has just learned how to walk holding on to my hand so I think you are probably right. He is obviously well chuffed with himself.

Ah well, out with the pro plus for a wee while I guess.

Thanks luv.xxxx

What do you do with him when he is awake? Isabelle went through this stage - we ignored her and she soon got the message that it wasnt fun to be awake at that time of the morning in the pitch black on her own! it only took a few nights for her not to bother - however, my friends little girl did the same thing, my friend got up with her in the night and so the little girl thought it was ok to be up at those ungodly hours in the morning! it took a long time for her to get out of the habit!

Kathryn

After he had played quietly in his cot for about an hour and a half he started crying. I ignored him for about 20 mins then went through to check his nappy. I have just had a tummy bug so wondered if he might have it too. I couldnt tell so I changed him anyway. Didnt even look at him and kept the lights down as far as I could so he would know it wasnt playtime. Put him back down again and gave him his dummy but he still screamed to get up. After about an hour I ended up bringing him in with me so I could get some sleep. Its not something I usually do though, only in extreme cir****tances! xx

Hi Ladies

My son in the last 2 weeks has been waking during the night again messing about, chucking his teddies around, chatting away etc etc but the past 3 nights I'm pretty sure it's been his teeth that have been hurting him so.. last night it was Medised at 12.10 (thank goodness for medised!) After him sleeping through I'm just not used to this getting up through the night again (feels like the early days ha!! Wink)

It does seem crazy to be moaning about it when 6 months ago I was up 3 times a night for a hour each time! Somehow though this feels way more knackering.

Paula - sorry you are going through it too. Maybe its Damiens teeth that are playing him up as well. Never really thought of that. Nothing like parenthood to make you feel useless!

Fingers crossed for a better night tonight.
