Hi Jo, I used Colief when my son was an infant and I found the same problem. Unfortunately it wasn't until we put him on cows milk that we finally weaned him off. I can totally sympathize not just because the dependency issue but it works out costly too. Have you tried reducing the drops you use? Also, when I spoke to my HV she advised that we gradually wean him onto cows milk (this was early at 10 months) - ensuring that he had a well balanced diet. Hope this helps. Elaine

Nope, you're not alone!! It is frustrating and I totally sympathize. Adam was much the same and took a while to adjust to the reduction in drops. When Eleanor came along she had similar colicky symptoms but I didn't want to go back to using Colief so I put her on the Cow and Gate Comfort milk. Worked out fine, though she experienced very loose bowels.. Since coming off the formula its been a complete reversal and the poor mite is often constipated. Ah well, you just can't win!! Anyway, all the best and hope you manage to wean your little man off the colief soon. Elaine

My little man was on colief for about 10 weeks, but then he was diagnosed lactose intolerant & has been on wysoy since 12 weeks old which i get on prescription for him.... Alot of Gps dont like testing for lactose issues & i had to push the test involves me constantly checking his nappies til he had soiled then i had 1 hour to get the stool sample to our local hospital which on a good run takes upto 30 mins to get too but the test came back 2 days later which proved he was lactose intolerant I have since had a daughter who I queried lactose issues with when she was 2 weeks old & well is now on a combination of wysoy & breastfeeding..... Lucy has'nt been formally diagnosed but has been alot better since the change in milk..... I would push for the test hun incase it is lactose related Good luck Joanne x
