Roslyn,

Glad to hear that you managed to keep your tube (gosh that sounds so clinical!) you and DH have really been through the mill, here's hoping that lady luck will be looking down on you soon.

Unfortunately there has been another MC thread started by Dippy who has sadly mc'd again if you want to join that thread just go to all forums - pregnancy and then read down the topics. If it is not on the first page then TTC and 2ww will be on page two it depends on what has been going on.

Take it easy. Good luck with the blood results.

I know that there have been a few ex-merinas who have got their BFP's recently. Would you all be kind enough to let us know when you had the darn thing removed and when you got your BFPS?

Congratulations to you all.

Babydust to all of all that are still waiting.

Hi touchwood, thought i'd add my info as i got my BFP on the 1st dec!!!

I had my mirena coil for just over three years with no periods in that time, had all the other crap that went with it, weight gain, headaches etc.... I had it removedend of june 05 so we could try for baby no3.
Once it was removed i waited 7 weeks for my periods to begin again, so officially once periods came back we were ttc!!!
I wasn't regular after the coil, had one month when i got af 5 days earlier than i was expecting!!
I have been taking green tea extract and raising my hips for ten mins after bding![:I]
Anyway not sure how much info you want, but got my BFP on the 01-12-05 and am now 5 weeks pregnant![Big Grin]

good luck to all you girls ttc, baby dust to all,

bubbly x [Smiler]

Hi There

Me - 25
DH - 26
TTC - not started yet
First Merina - Feb 2000

Hello just thought I'd join you as I'm still debating what to do. DH and I would like to concieve next year after we have settled back in Scotland (in the process of moving back). I have been so confused with what to do I don't really know where I stand. The doc that I seen for my second merina told me it would take up to 2 yrs to concieve once removed so I went to see my current doc to ask since DH and I have now a plan to have kids and she said that I should concieve as soon as it's removed and I should stick with it till next year. Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh

So I could end up not being able to till I'm 28!

Just like to say that this is most helpful being able to talk to you all and I wish all those TTC just now best wishes

Jay Jay my old pal - Glad you are doing well I did have a look on your "due in string" and you seem to be ticking along nicely! Let us know how you get on with your scan.

T7tiger - Every girl on this site has been told different things about TTC after the merina. Personally I would give myself a good six months off it before ttc. When me and DH got married I came off the BCP about 9 months before ttc just so I knew my body was clear. I had my merina [xx(][Frowner!] removed last June, but I had being having lots of problems with it. I conceived within two cycles of having my previous one removed and there are lots of ladies on this string who have conceived after it so I wouldn't worry too much if it's not causing you any grief.

Good luck

Babydust to all

hiya everyone,
im soo glad i found this site and found out im not the only one! [Razzer]

the first time i had the mirena was after the birth of my 2nd son and i had it in for 1 yr with no major probs apart from bleeding in the first 3 mths,
i had it taken out as we decided to have another baby, it took my 2 mths to have a period and when i did we knew about it i couldnt leave the house it was so heavy and lasted about 8 days,
but then the month after that i was pregnant with my 3rd son!
it was as if my body had cleaned its self of all the mirena rubbish and we were back to normal.
so for you girls out there, there is hope after the mirena, [:I]

i since had the mirena back in after the birth of my son and this time have had big problems with it!!! weight gain spots and feeling low, oh and of course constant bleeding!
so after long talks with hubby we have decided to have it removed and start ttc for our last baby to complete out unit! then we will look at a more permanat solution, so next monday it will be out and i too will be ttc,
so lots of baby dust to all and keep you chins up as it does happen after the mirena x x x [Smiler]

Touchwood - thanks for that, I've had quite a few problems with merina but I'm not someone who would remeber to take the pill so I've been stuck with it since I stopped the depo injections - funnily for all the same problems I have with merina!!

Dwardysmith - hey you've been busy! What is it like to have that many children? It must be very tiring, how old are they. Good luck with the TTC Hope it all goes well Smiler

Though I would add to this post-I had the merina for just over a year-it relaced a normal coil which I had had for 4 years. Lots of problems with it and had it out July 2005....got my BFP on xmas eve-took a bit longer than I'd hoped but not as long as some so I count myself lucky. Needless to say I will NOT be having another after this baby is born in September!!! Good Luck and patience for anyone TTC after merina x x x x

Thanks to all the ladies who are contributing to this string. I have come to the conclusion that I will not be messing with my hormones again. I have an appointment to see the gyne on 7th February so hopefully he will be able to reassure me that everything is fine. He may also be able to tell me why I lost two. Babydust to all.

Hi all

Hope you don't mind but I thought I'd jump in on this thread!

I'm 28 and had the mirena fitted purely for contrcapetve reasons. Now had it for 7 years - no periods, no problems. (I know it should only be in for 5 yrs but my dr suggested I keep it as we knew we wanted to start trying for a family within a couple of years. Her advice was that whilst effect of hormones would slowly disappear the basics of the coil would still work and as I didn't have any problems why have it out)

Booked an appointment today to have it taken next Friday (3rd Feb) as hubby and I want to start ttc. Am v.v.v.v. excited but not really sure what to expect after that. Haven't had a period for 7 years so have no idea what my cycle is like or how I'm going to start counting days/doing all those funny things that you ladies talk about!

Over the last couple of months I've started getting what I think are period pains on a braodly 4 week basis so I think the hormones must finally be running out and possibly I may be getting some visibility of what my cycle will be like when it is removed - what do you think?

Anyway, just wanted to say hello and join the conversation - I'll keep you updated on progress!

Just came across this thread and can't believe my luck!!
Hope this will be of some help to you lovely ladies.
We've 3 boys, 11, 8 and 3yrs.
First merina inserted May 1997. Used it for 4yrs-no side effects or periods. Removed in April 2001 as wanted to try for another child.
At the time was advised to wait for 2 monthly cycles and told that I'd be very fertile just after removal.
Got BFP after just first cycle and went on to have healthy son Feb 2002.
Had my second mc fitted just 6 weeks later April 02 and again have been very lucky with it I guess - tiredness and spots but little else.
DH and I have been broody at different times over last few yrs but never at the same time. Anyway just decided we're both extremely broody at the moment, so not one to hang around(in case he changes his mind!!) had the coil removed yesterday, Tues.
Doctor has advised to wait for one AF as have not had periods for last 4yrs. Am so keen to TTC but will wait month or two. Am quite concerned by some of your notes..did not think the coil could affect my chances + I am 4yrs older now. Just bought an OPK test today..have never done in the past but don't want to take any chances.
Shall pop in regularly and follow your progress. What a great opportunity to talk and share info with girls going through the same. Best of luck to you all x
