Ty for the Reply TouchWood!

Wish me luck I go on Friday to have it removed! The nurse did say anywhere from a few months to a year before I conceive so we'll wait and see.

Lots of thanks and Baby Dust!
Talk to you again soon,
K

K,

My very best of luck to you. When I had mine removed it did not hurt at all, but unfortunately that is not the case with everyone[xx(] Just try and relax when they start to furtle! (urgh Too Much Info!!)

I am sure that you will be fine, if you look at the merina site they recomend that you use a condom if you have intercourse prior to removal as your fertility can return immediately![Big Grin]

Let us all know how you get on, and feel free to ask any questions.

Glad it went well for you hopefully your AF will arrive soon so you know where you are (I don't usually wish her on anyone but in these circs it's different.

There are a couple of strings that I post on usually, the TTC and 2WW string. There really is a great group of girls on both of the strings, you will soon get to know what's going on. I always check this string as it was one that I started for all the x-merina girls, most of us post across two or more strings so if there is anything that you want to ask then usually there is someone that can come up with an answer or suggestion.

Welcome and goodluck with you TTC journey, hopefully it will be a really quick and easy one for you.

Stay positive, and loads of babydust coming your way

Lady,

Who knows?

What I did was start to watch my other fertility signs aswell. CM, OV pain and temp. Fertility Friend on the internet helps you plot your temps and will give you help on what happening throughout your cycle. Temps usually start off low at the begining then after ov your temps go higher and stay there and then just before AF your temp usually drops again. I'm not an expert on temping as I have only been doing it myself for two cycles. The only problem with FF is that you start to temp on the first day of your af and if you don't know when that was/is you can't do it. What I would suggest you do is get yourself a fertility themometer (basal body temp) and write your temps down until you are sure that you have got your af. This should give you some indication on what's going on.

Sorry can't be of any more help it's just a bit hit and miss after the merina [xx(]

Glad to hear that she has arrived. If you have any problems then the girls on the ttc and 2ww strings are really helpful and you can ask anything.

Good luck and hope to see you over on the other strings.

Hi All,

This is a really weird experience as I remember reading all you ladies' comments only 10 wks ago when I fell pregnant after my first cycle after having the merina coil taken out and now I am reading them all again as I have just lost the baby. It seems so unreal at the moment. I remember reading that you should wait at least 6 mnths before trying to conceive after the merina and I was so worried because I conceived so quickly. I started panicking that I was going to miscarry and even phoned my GP who reassured me that I might not. I started bleeding last Thurs and was admitted to hospital with an ectopic pregnancy. My world seems to have fallen apart, and I feel a wreck emotionally and physically as we were so looking forward to this baby. I am 36 with 2 girls of 14 and 11 and a son of 5. We would like to try again in 3 months, been told to give my body a rest and to recover. Has this happened to anyone or anyone's friends, etc. I just want to know that I am not the only one who has experienced an ectopic pregnancy once the merina has been removed. I was always under the impression that an ectopic could happen if the IUD was still in, but mine had been removed a month and a half before and it still happened. Can anyone explain why please.
Looking forward to a few replies.

Thanks ladies
Roslyn

Roslyn,

Firstly there is nothing that I could say or do that will make you feel even the smallest bit better. The only advice that I will give you is grieve for your baby and lay it to rest, do not bottle up your feelings and definately have a good cry (you can also poke anyone in the eye that tells you that it obviously wasn't meant to be!![}Smiler][Big Grin]. I have mc'd twice one before the Merina and one after. The one after the merina I found out at my 12 week scan having lost it at about 10 weeks. I had conceived on my second cycle.

There appears to be not much info on the aftermath of the Merina. I hope that this thread helps you also the TTC and 2WW strings are very supportive. A lot of the ladies on the strings have suffered MC's and ectopic pg's.

There are ladies on here that have conceived after the Merina and now have healthy babies and there ladies that have conceived since this string was started. Jay Jay has recently got her BFP+++

Take care, big hug, get p*ssed, and you know where we are if you feel the need to generally give life a knock.

Hi Touchwood,

Thanks so much for your words of reassurance and comfort. A friend came around yesterday and gave me a big hug. She has just found out she is 6 weeks pregnant and I am really happy for her as she lost a baby at 5 mnths preg. I did not think I wanted to see anybody, if you know what I mean I just wanted to be on my own, but I think seeing someone did some good and I good chat about things. I really want to feel normal again, but as I told my hubby last night I can't help feeling the way I do, it is really weird. I am back at work in 3 weeks, I am a care assistant so have to take things easy, lifting etc once I get back. My right side is throbbing a little, I guess I am so scared complications are going to set in. I still cannot believe that after 3 normal straight forward pregnancies I have ended up with this.

Nevermind, I guess next time better luck, although I said to my friend yesterday that I am so scared in a way of falling pregnant again incase the same thing happens, I am not sure I can handle going through all this again. My other friend has had a few mcs and I honestly think she deserves a medal,I feel deserately sorry for her as she would love just one more baby and for her to go through all this time and time again seems so unfair.

I am just going to take things easy as you say and maybe you are right need a good cry, although I think i did loads of that in hospital. One thing I could not handle was having to go for my scan and wait with all the preg ladies who were so happy and there I knew I was losing my baby because the gynae and maternity wards were interlinked. I am going to go and tuck myself back into bed and dream of making baby(s) in Feb, fingers crossed!!!

Take care and thanks,
Ros xx

Rosalyn,

Your welcome. I agree that it is very hard when you go to hospital and have to spend time waiting with other pregnant ladies. You wouldn't wish what had happened to you on anyone else, but it just doesn't seem fair. I remember walking out of the hospital the first time and all down the stairs there were posters about breast feeding your baby and other helpful hints to new mothers. As I walked passed each poster I howled like a two year old who had just shut her fingers in a door!

I forgot to say also that you need to give your DH a big cuddle. The men in our lives go through it too although I don't think it's quite as personal they have still lost and I think that people always forget about them. Give him a hug from me too and say I remembered him XX

I hope you don't mind me asking, but have you lost a tube or did they manage to save it?

I wish you and DH the very best of luck for February.

I am always about so if you ever need an ear (so to speak or type!) then drop us a line. Hope to see you on the TTC strings and 2WW when you try again. All the ladies are very supportive and many have suffered mc's and ectopic.

Keep your chin up

Hi Touchwood,

Thanks once again, you are right I need to give my DH a big hug, he has been amazing through all this, I mean keeping the house running etc. while I was in hospital, visiting me etc. and yes he did feel it really badly and had his little cry on my shoulder. It is our second marriage, his wife died at 34 from pneumonia in 2000 and he was left with a 6yr old daughter. She also had a miscarriage before her daughter so maybe it is bringing back alot of emotions. He is so good to my kids and treats them like his own, but we would love to have a child btw us, just the cherry on the top.
I did not have a tube removed, although I was given the option, instead I had methotoxtrate (spelling) an injection they give cancer patients, it kills any new developing cells and it either helps your body to reabsorb the foetus or you miscarry, (I miscarried on Tues, not a very nice sight as I honestly did not think it was so big!)I am not allowed to fall preg in the next 3 mnths because the injection is so toxic and it will kill any new forming baby, I would honestly rather wait then go through it all again and they have warned me so I have to be patient.

I am feeling a bit better in myself, but my tummy is still tender which I guess it will be for a while and I can't overdo things, I found out the pain then spreads to my back, oh the joys I feel like a geriatric, the mind is willing but the body has packed up!! I am off to have a blood test this am to see if my HCG levels have dropped, they have to get down to 10, on Tues when I left hosp they were at 600 coming down from 2000, 4 blood tests later. As long as they keep coming down, there should be no reason for another injections. If I do have to have another injection, I will have to wait another 3 months, ie. 6 mnths before I can try again, that will really be testing things I guess. WELL, fingers crossed that all is well, but I just HATE needles, so think of me, I am already in a sweat and scared. Please can you direct me where the other 2 threads are because I have been battling to find them on the site, i would love to join!!
Will chat again soon,
Take care,
Ros
