I had my Merina removed this morning at around 11 am. It was uncomfortable and almost directly following its removal I had abdominal cramps. They didn't last long, but I noted it because even with my period I don't get cramps. The doctor said it was one of the most difficult ones she has had to remove, but I can tell you that's because my last OB/GYN put it in crooked. I don't have the best of opinions where he is concerned.
No spotting so far, just a little brown when I wiped last restroom visit.
My doctor told me I can start trying to get pregnant immediately, but I'm not sure if I want to risk a miscarry, so we shall see.
Other than that I had to pick up prenatal vitamins and am starting them tomorrow.
Sadly I'm not a big stickler for keeping track of my cycles so I have no idea when mine is supposed to gift me with its presence. I have noted a lower back ache in the last hour, which for me IS a sign of that lovely time of the month.
Hoping all goes well and looking forward to keeping everyone updated...
please do not give up hope i had my mirena coil taken out late aug 2007, we having been ttc on and off since, well i am now 35 weeks pregnant so please be patient, i was beginning to think it would never work, lots of luck to you all :-)
As always, I love to hear positive stories! Thank you for sharing yours with us. It truly is uplifting and encouraging.
My DH and I decided this morning to wait at least one month (or for my first AF) before officially ttc. He's worried about the health of the baby if we try before the Merina leaves my system.
As for me, it's as if my logical brain is warring with my desire to start trying immediately. I know I should wait, and as ready as I am to start trying, I'll make myself relax.
In the meantime it's condoms and rather a lot of praying for AF. Let's start the countdown.
Hopefully AF will return soon. Personally, I think waiting until a normal AF is the best way to go too. Are you tracking your basel body temp? It is really easy, and can help point out your cycle.

You guys are all keeping my hopes up, now only 2 days to go before my mirena comes out. Just brought some ovulation tests and some pregnancy tests too but worrying that I may jinx myself!! for some reason I have bleed early this month started Monday and finished weds so dont know quite whats happening looking forward to having a chat with the doctor Monday for my appointment.
I'm also excited and nervous - cant breathe a world to my husbands parents that we are trying for another and concerned as to what to say to my sil who unfortunately had a molar pregnancy 6 months ago. We get on well but dont have a close relationship and dont know how to go about things - any suggestions? trinax
It's been two days and I've started bleeding (heavy to medium). No, I'm not sure if it's a normal visit from AF, but it sure feels like it. My back is killing me.
I think we've (DH and I) have decided to just let nature take its course and whatever happens, happens.
I am also ttc and had my mirena taken out on the 21st August which was followed by light/medium bleeding which lasted for about 5 days. When I had my coil taken out my hubby and I had just had sex about a week before so the docs were concerned that I could get pregnant if I took the coil out but I insisted as I was well fed up of the dreaded mirena.
On Wednesday I started bleeding again and since then have been suffering from the worst backache ever. The bleeding is medium and is mostly evident when I go to the toilet and wipe. Am not sure whether this is a visit from AF or another side effect of taking the coil out. I hope that next month my body will be back to normal and we really start trying in earnest......
Good luck to you all, and have fun while trying

Still no period I did a test and i got a faint line though I think it might be worth while doing another test again but so scared that it will be a big fat no, well will wait another day then try again. if its another faint line, should I try the doctors if I haven't had a visit from AF?

I think a line is a line. Maybe you ovulated late therefore AF isn't really a week late yet. Maybe you should try testing everyother day. The line should get darker, since the hormone level should just about double everyday or everyother day (I can't remember).
Good Luck and Congrats! Keep us posted.
Babydust to everyone.

Well had it taken out yesterday, wasnt painful but have been cramping ever since and had a few smears of blood. Was told that I can pregnant straight away but would be a good idea to at least have a normal cycle so that that there would be no problem in dating me but it it happens straight away there would be no problems. Lets see what happens!! trinax
Congrats Talena_Caro thats fab news heres to a wonderfully happy and healthy pregnancy for you. Been feeling like I'm about to come on all day - quite bad cramps so maybe I will follow in your direction? fingers crossed that I am as lucky as you are. take care trinax
So I decided to join this thread. I had my mirena removed on August 28th after 4y3m of having it inserted. For the first 1-1/2 years I didnt have a period. However, after that I began having a light period every 28 days. It gradually changed from 2-3 days to 6 days ( my period before Mirena lasted 6-7 and was very havy). Well, I had some bleeding after removal but I was also on the last day of AF when it had it removed. This bleeding lasted about 5 days and then it has been on and off. I feel very well except that for some crazy reason I think I am pregnant. I think I am allucinating symptons! Is my mind playing games with me??? My first child wasn't planned so this is all new to me. How long should I wait to take a test? AF is due the 20th.
