Hi Ladies Just been reading through this thread and wanted to say, like some of the others, that there is plenty to play for after the merina coil. I had mine for three years and had it removed in November last year. I had no idea that there were so many adverse side effects as, on the face of it, I had had no problems. It was only after I had it removed (having decided to ttc) and when researching how long my AF would take to appear, that I realised some of what I had been experiencing for 3 years could be put down to the coil. Anyway, I fell pregnant immediately in December last year and am now nearly 25 weeks. So, don't give up hope and it will happen to you all, I'm sure. Lots of love and luck Ali x

Hi everyone. Hope you have room for one more. I'm 24 and have had irregular periods all my life. My doctor has suggested the Merina coil for this and i'm going to try it. I'm quite worried after reading all your responses though! I want to have a baby when I come off of it. I'm worried that I wont' be able to if I don't get regular periods and get my weight down. My husband and I have had unprotected sex since we got married (4 years ago) and I have never gotten pregnant. Is anyone else in this sort of situation?[?][?]

Good morning ladies, It is great to see some positive stories on here it is what I started the string for - to give us Post Merina Ladies some hope[ ] Personally I would not touch that little alien thing again if my life depended on it. As soon as I had "it[xx(]" removed my whole body felt different (I do not wish to sound like a drama queen[:X]) For anyone who reads this thread thinking of having a merina fitted there is a merina thread over on the health side of this site. There are lots of ladies who seem to have very similar side effects on here. I have today that I do know friends that have had no problems with the merina, so if you decide to go ahead as soon as you start having any of the symptoms mentioned on the threads get that little beastie whipped out!!!!! I am coming up to ov, my last chance before I see my specialist at the begining of August. We have decided that if we need any help then we will call it a day. Good luck and babydust to all XX Touchwood XX

Hello ladies, been reading this thread and thought I would join in if that's ok?? Me Trish - 31 DH - 24 DS - 8 DD - 3 DS - 19 months TTC - 1st cycle I had the Merina coil after the birth of my last son in February 05. I had no problems with it at all, I had very slight bleeding for the first few weeks and then nothing, I even managed to lose nearly 2 stone!!! DH and I decided we would like 1 more child to complete our family so I had the Merina removed 9 August 06 and AF arrived on the 11th. I have been taking Folic Acid and have worked out roughly when I would have ovulated, which is pretty hard to work out as I haven't had a cycle for soo long??? Reading peoples comments on this thread makes me worried about how long it is going to take me to concieve, (I normally fall within 1 cycle). Do you think because AF came within 2 days that I am still ovulating?? I have been suffering quite bad headaches since having the Merina removed did anyone else have this problem. I have been reading the 2WW sites and I think I am just imagining pregnancy symptoms because I am so worried about conception taking so long? Although I know that some women have fallen pregnant really quickly after having the Merina removed!! Anyway am babbling so hope I haven't gone on too much Hope to hear from you all Baby dust to everyone Trish

Just thought I would post and say that I had my Mirena in for just over two years and got it taken out approx 3 months ago, I'm not 6weeks and 2days preggers. I hated that coil, I wish everyone the best of luck TTC after having that awful thing in. Just keep positive. It will happen!!! P.s Kat! Your ex mirena to! I didn't realise... xxxx
