Hi Julie, know just how you feel im 8 weeks after removal now and still nothing, went to docs with severe pain in my side thought it was my ependix and he said it was my ovaries and sent me to the nurse to do a pregnancy test to check i wasn't having an eptopic, it was negative so he referred me to the hospital for a scan and said it would be a couple of days that was last Tuesday and still never heard from them so i rang the womens and childrens hospital and spoke to the nurse who had done my colposcopy a few years ago i explained what was going on and she said i may have a blockage and to get back in touch with my doctor i did and he rang me back last night and apologised saying he sent the request for my scan on Tues when i went to see him and will put me forward again (said hospital couldn't of receieved it) so will be interested to hear what your docs say to you. I know how you feel its very frustrating, well this might make you feel a tad better. I started spotting on Fri night and eventually got my AF on saturday after 12 long weeks !! It is very heavy to the point that i passed out and am having to change every hour or less ! it washed me out for the whole weekend.
I went to see my GP on fri too, who said that when merina is taken out we are immediatley back to normal ?? i told her about this site and asked her to go read the comments posted on here. My GP is female and also has the merina.
Anyway i can finally TTC, i have an appointment with the nurse today for blood tests to see where i am with my hormones, so all being well fingers crossed.
Thanks everyone for letting me bend their ears this site has been a great help and comfort to me.
Sally if you need to talk give me a shout .
Ill keep you all informed.

Hi I'm totally new to this site but thank goodness that i have found it!!! I had my coil put in after i had my son(who is now 4)and had it removed last July. I didn't realise how bad the side effects were until i had it removed (bad back, really sore boobs, always tired etc)last July. I discussed this with my GP and she said that she had never heard of any one having any side effects and basically looked at me as if I was mad! Anyway, to cut a long story short, my hub and I started TTC in October last year and I fell pregnant in December. Unfortunately I had a mc at 9 weeks. I have had two normal af's since then and this month convinced myself that i was pg, (feeling sick, tired etc) after I had used an ovulation test. However, after almost testing to see if i was pg, i started to have very bad pains and I am currently having the worst af of my life at the mo! Please tell me that there is life after the merina!!!?!

Hello there, I started this thread as I felt pretty much the same as you. I had my merina removed last June and have been ttc ever since. This may not be the positive note that you really want to hear, but perhaps me feeling human for the first time since the birth of my son in March 2002 is. I had horrendous side effects from the coil. I have even had HRT as my oestrogen levels were non existent. There are lots of positive stories on here so do try to stay positive. I am currently on a "I'm trying to chill" moment, so I haven't really been contributing to the boards only when AF rears her ugly head (as she has done today[xx(]).
I can only wish you the very best of luck. The ladies on the 2ww (two week wait) are really lovely and provide masses of support. Most of them have had some sort of problem with ttc - so there is lots of advice and words of comfort. I'm sure they wouldn't mind another lady joining them.
Fingers crossed and my very best of luck to you and your other half.

J - I can't believe that you have only got two weeks to go. Good luck XX

Faiza I have had both types of coil-first had normal coil (gyne-T) after having my youngest which resulted in very heavy periods 14days,clots,flooding etc also ovarian pain-had laparoscopies and changed to mirena but felt awful on it to be honest-yes it was convenient but it is linked to weight gain and I know you are a 'weight watcher' I put on about3stone over 4 years with both. I am also wondering what to go for after this baby is born as I intend to breastfeed again. Really pleased following your journey on November thread as you were a great support to me on 2WW-can't believe we're all this far along now-good luck with getting your scan sorted out. Hi SallyAnn I just wanted to let you know that I had the severe pains in the stomach, I went to a relief doc and he said i will pass [!] So after a couple of days it got so much worse and I managed to see my normal GP and she was wanting me to have a colonoscopy too, although she thinks it's my appendix I believe it is more Bowel related. Anyway she sent a referal to the hospital stating "Urgent Pregnant lady" with stomach pains and yet 6-8 weeks later still no news from the hospital...I did go to the emergency and they werent very helpful, tried to fill me up on drugs and send me home. As usual I am very anti drugs at the best of time so I only let them give me one lot. The pains are still around occasionally but definately getting better. Now 12 weeks preg and feeling much better that they are not so severe, I wonder if it was coil related?? Baby dust to you all....especially touchwood[]
