hi there - i tried to have a homebirth this time around (turned out to be false start!) and I have to say having the midwives sitting in my lounge staring at me on the floor and the neighbours in their garden having a BBQ really did not do it for me - I suspect my labour ground to a halt because of it! I gave brith in hospital at 6am and was out of there by 9am - great way to do it - you get the privacy of the labour room then you get to go home to your nice home having not startled the neighbours and with no cleaning up to do - fab!

Up to you hun but do consider that you might go into labour in daylight hours when your neighbours are about.....I felt really uncomfortable as I am a loud labourer!!!!!!

Good luck x

hiya
please read my experience. i was dead against a home birth i was so scared but it was the best thing i ever did. with baby number 1 i gave myself to the hospital with number 2 i researched home birth to death on www.homebirth.org.uk
i had 2 sweeps as i was 8 days over due and had been contracting for 5 days.
it was 11o'clock on a saturday and the midwife was great i had never met her before and she told me, get some ibuprofen and a hat for your baby and go for a long walk i will see u at tea time so u can have ur baby
i was like ok.... went into town walking in the rain determined to get all the things she said.
i was in labour and breathing deeply by the end in woolworths buying a little hat.
i walked home and had some birthday cake sat on the yoga ball and had a lovely bath all in the luxury of my own home.
i was so much more relaxed and was able to completely go into myself and concentrate on each contraction. the midwife turned up at about 4 along with my mom. i was on all 4s... time went really fast and i concentrated through each one... breathing in for the contraction and out once it peaked...

the midwife left me bee and wrote notes on what she could see... she did not touch me and i think i would have burst into tears had she have.
she offered me gas and air which i refused and she brought it in anyway... as soon as it iwas within reach i was like give it here

as soon as i had that i started pushing and the midwife was trying to get the second one there.... 15mins later she arrived and mybaby came out 3 mins later. he was perfect and everything was so lovely and calm.
the thing i worried about was that my placenta would come out ragged and i might haemorage... this happened but was all fine. i just had to wait till i stopped bleeding and the midwife was more then happy. they did paper work for 4 2 hours i had a bath in my own bath and i relaxed breast feeding my baby. we all went to bed in our own house and that is definitely how it will happen this way as along as i am able. let me know if this has been helpful and i can give u way more info just ask.

give it a good informed think. lots of love and luck sarah xx
