Parents who put warm milk in plastic baby bottles could be exposing their children to dangerous pollutants, scientists warn.
A study has shown that a toxin leaks from plastic bottles when they are heated or filled with hot liquids.

Bisphenol A has been linked to fertility problems, diabetes, breast cancer, hyperactivity and early puberty in girls. Babies are thought to be particularly vulnerable to its effects.

It is one of the most common 'gender-bender' chemicals in the home and is found in food containers, water bottles and the lining of food cans.

The US findings will concern parents who submerge plastic bottles in hot water, mix infant formula with hot water and boil or steam bottles to sterilise them.

gd god what can you do thee days!!

i was reading a while bk that now your not supposed to make feeds up before had just put cooled biol water in the bottles then add the formula when bubs needs feeding

when dd had bottles we used to make them with coll boil water and put the formula in then in the fridge and if they werent used wihin 24 hrs they were chucked.

now apperentlt you cant put bottles in the fridge and even i the bottle gas been heated up or not once the formula is mixed the bottle shuld be used in a hour ( i thought that rule was just when they were heated up)

also what i never really understood was you sterilise your bottles but as soon as u open the lid o the teriliser anf the air hits them surely they are unsterile.

i really hope i can bf this time cuz all these new suggestions seem silly to me!!

I can't work it out but just wanted to say that since i stopped breast feeding i have never warmed my bottles and DD takes them cold. It makes it so much easier if you're out and about to not have to worry about warming them! Just a little tip......

before you all panic, read the rest of the article in particular

"British scientists say there is no reason to stop using polycarbonate bottles and the evidence is disputed."

you wonder who sponsored the study!!!!

as ever said, it's getting to the point you can't get out of bed these days!!!

To answer the question, iylahya, recommend breastfeeding then you don't have to worry about it!!!!!! Wink Smiler
