Would anyone like to share their experiences of trying or getting pregnant after the removal of the mirena coil. All your experiences would be very much appreciated.Thanks.

Question:
Has anyone got pregnant after the mirena coil?

Choices:
How long did it take to get pregnant?
Did the mirena effect you getting pregnant?

Hi scooby I got my Mirena removed in February of this year and I am now 6 weeks pregnant. With my last two children fell pregnant immediately i.e. first month so definately think Mirena had an effect on the time to concieve. Hope this helps

Hi,

I have been reading a bit everywhere how long it took women to get pregnant after removal of mirena too. I removed mirena last week (sept 6th) since my husbad abd i want to conceive. It is very stressfull when you read all those posts where women have stopped ovulating on mirena and they have to wait for a long time to get their cycles back Frowner

I hope my body will get going quickly...

I really appreciate your stories, it gives me hope as of it can happen quickly.

My mirena was removed September 6, 2007. And i am actually wondering the same thing. Should i expect a long wait till pregnancy? I used to be on Ortho-Low for only 5 months and that took me 9 months to get pregnant. I had the mirena for exactly one year. And my period started two days later and just finished. So it is normal to the period i had prior to the b/c. Any suggestions

Hi sacciemama!!
Here's how it's going for me so far I hope I can be of help to you. I got the mirena removed after 3 years to ttc with my hubby. During this time I didn't have any periods.I got it removed on 8th Aug, spotted on 15th&16th and after using an opk I got a positive reading on the 30th, but I took my first period on the 12th Sept. I have been using Dong quai & Agnus castus to return my hormone and fertility levels back to normal again. If anything changes or I get anymore information I will let you know. Look forward to hearing from you and take care Smiler

Thanks so much scooby for the info. I just finished my period today. So in comparison to periods before the mirena this one would be considered normal. Now, i am just hoping the next period will come normal as well. My doctor did tell me that you can have a period but not ovulate and vice versa. Its crazy. If we get pregnant this will be our fourth and final child. The first two came so easily and now its just weird to have to try so hard. I already have a 6 year old daughter and my boys 4 and 1 1/2. i am hoping for another little girl. So if i get a girl i figure it will be worth the wait..lol

Hi sacciemama
Just to say had my mirena in for 2 years, had i out in Feb, had last period in April and baby due in January.
This will be my no4 too, had boy, boy, girl and really hoped for another girl, with my first girl i 'planned' as much as i could and read somewhere that the female and male sperm have different tactics! The boys rush at it and have a short life span and the girls take their time, based on this i BD 3-5 days b4 ovulation then didnt, and sure enough was lucky enough to get pg and it was a girl.
This time round i really just wanted to get pregnant so although i wanted to plan again the main thing was to be pregnant.
I have looked back as best i can and again i think i fell from BD' ing a few days b4 ovulation, i never thought i would be pregnant as due to cir****tances beyond my control we never managed to BD around time of ovulation, the scan has shown i am having another girl, so up to you if you give the theory a try or just go for it!!
There is the pink method, having all things pink around you and burning pink candles but i think the other method at least sounds a bit scientific!!
Good luck

Hi sacciemama!!
BD means that you and your hubby are baby dancing together Big Grin

Im like yourself going for my fourth and final baby as well and also looking for a girl.

I've used opk's with all of mine and luckily bd at the right time to get my 2boys and my girl so hopefully it will work out right this time around as well and I will get another little girl too.

Take care and look forward to hearing from you again Wink

Hi sacciemama!
Hope you don't mind me asking but did have the mirena coil in before you concieved your last baby?

I used an opk ( ovulation kit) this month and got a positive reading but don't know if that goes for much because I only have one tube as well due to an ecopic pregnancy 3 years ago. As I said previous I have been using Dong Quai & Agnus castus to help hormone and fertility return to normal again.Maybe you should try them.

Hi sacciemamma,
I only knew i was ovulating without a kit bacause i was sooooo regular
I just counted days and worked it from there.
If you are patient enough you can get some ovulation kits and use them to map out when each month you are ovulating, this way when you see a pattern you are able to bd a few days before ovulation and go for pink!
We are all different and mirena changes our usual cycle so be prepared for anything, it could mean your cycle returns fast, it could mean it takes a while.
I went for a massage and did detox after mirina was removed and i am sure this helped get the junk out of my system it had left. (i say detox in the loosest sense i drank lots of water and wore avon foot detox pads for the 3 night treatment in the pack!!)

Scooby,
I read one thread somewhere about a lady who had one tube due to an eptopic and went on to have 5 healthy babies, 5 or 6, i know it was plenty babies!!!!!

Good luck to you both

Pinky xx
