Hi I am new to this site and started follicle tracking around sept/oct time.
Anyway on my second atempt my treatment was cancelled on the 18th nov as the follicles were'nt growing.(there were over 10 follicles around 11mm)
Anyway on the 21st I did a preggie test & it came out positive i did another 2 same evening all positive then did a 4th next mroning also positive.
But on the 23rd I had a pinky discharge fisrt thing in the morning this scared me so i phoned gp who arranged a scan that afternoon anyway scan showed womb clear but i was sent for an HCG blood test it came back @ 331.
On Xmas day I had to go back for another HCg & that has come back @ 336 the hospital have asked me to go back on the 27th for another test, but have said that i am having an eptopic pregancy obviously this is stressing the hell out of me,
I must stress I have no pain or no more pinky discharge does this sound like a very early pregnancy or an eptopic!!!!!
Any advice gratefully accepted as these HCG levels are confusing me big time
Thanks
Jo

Hiya.
Im also new to this and this is my first post!!

I also had to have a blood HCG test and asked about the results becuase like you I also had no idea what they meant! In early pregnancy the HCG in your blood should double or almost double every 48 hours. My first result was 141 and then 48 hours later it was 287 so had doubled. In an eptopic, the HCG levels do not double. I had a scan very early on (the day I got the 287 level result) and nothing was seen but went back 2 weeks later and a heart beat was found. I was having very bad cramps in the first few weeks and when they checked my heart and temp they we both fast and above normal (appartently another sign of an eptopic) but, touch wood (!) I'm 7 and a half weeks now and going back for my 12 week scan in 4 weeks time.

I feel for you because eptopic is a scary thought, although to me the fact that you are not in any pain in a good sign surely??

All the best and let us know now you get on
Vicky xx

You certainly sound pregnant to me.

Knowing your HCG levels is not going to help you.

What I don't understand is, if you are having an ectopic (regardless to whether you are in pain or not). They should have gone further with the tests.

I would ask you GP to arrange for further tests that shows whether or not this is an ectopic. You need to be sure, so that your mind can be at rest.

Keep in contact. All the best

Hi thanks to both of you for responding... I have to have another HCG blood test tomorrow that is when they are going to decide what to do although I am quite tempted to say I will wait as i can't go off my dates & I could be only just preggers by about a week but i am not sure how the HCG levels start from conception do they keep doubling straight after conception or start off slowly etc.

All i know is they have said either way I am going to have no full term pregnancy & to be told xmas day has been a killer for me... I could'nt even believe that the doctor was discussing options over the phone when she had never even met me or my hubby

Here are some websites with charts you can look at. It may give you an idea or an answer of what is happening at the moment. And it may help when you get your next blood result.

Thank you so much well i have just spent over four hours at Stafford hospital due to them losing my 1st lot of bloods today & having had a 2nd blood test done my levels have risen to 498 from 336 in 48 hours so i guess they are now ruling out an eptopic & saying its less than a 4 week pregnancy.

I have to go back in another 48 hours just to confirm things

Phew!!

Thank God for that. I was so hoping it would be good news, and it is.

I am happy for you. If all is confirmed that you are then here are few things you should do to get the start in your pregnancy.

Get onto your folic acid now, to help develop the neural path of baby.
Get onto the iron, to help get the oxygen around you and too baby.

Let us know what happens.

The first 12 weeks are the most crucial time of growth and development for baby. The neural stem (brain & nervous system) are developing.

That is why at 20 weeks they have scans to see if baby had developed properly.

Keep up on the folic acid until 12 weeks Jodaisley.

Stay blessed

Jodaisly,

Hold on girl!!

Go for the 48 hourly tests. However, you could go private to get a second opinion if you want, that would be the only other choice.

Keep going.
