Hi It seems weird asking about contraceptives when I really want to try for a baby, but as some of you know I have just had a D&C at 11 weeks and although we would like to try again straight away we have been told to wait until I have had one normal period. I obviously do not want to go back on the pill for one month and I have to admit I hate condoms. As I am not going to have any idea when I am ovulating or when my next period may show up can anyone suggest any other type of contraceptive we could use until then. My Mum suggested abstainng from sx! but as we are going on hols in 10 days time I don't think that is an option for the next few weeks
Or is there a way I can tell when I am OV?
any advice welcome please..

Hi Billy...I suppose you could pee on a Ov stick everyday(expensive) but I don't know how well they will work as you will still have pregnancy hormone in you??
apart from withdraw or condoms I don't know??

Hi Cooper Thanks for that - I had forgotten that I will still have the hormones in me. Does that mean if I POAS I would still get a +ve? Thats a bit mean isn't it! How long do they stay with you? I have just spoken to a Dr and she suggested being fitted with a diaphragm (sp?) but I'am a bit ignorant and not sure what one of those is! I'm going to see her tomorrow morning s I guess all will become clear then. Got to go - I am helping a friend out today and looking after her weimaraner puppy who is only 20 weeka old. I have got a 2 year old weimaraner as well so the house has been turned into chaos already with them chasing each other about.

I think your hormones can take about a month to go back to normal, that's what doc told me after m/c anyway. If you peed on a HPT today you probably would get a +, but everyone is different.
From what I know a diaphragm is a sheild thing you put up inside you and it acts like a barrier to stop sperm going anywhere. You then remove and clean after having sex?!

Ooooh I hope thats not right! Poor DP hasn't had any action for weeks cos of what I was going through and if we have to wait another possibly 6 weeks I think he will go off and find someone else!!! Surely you can BD just not get PG? It says on my notes that no BD after the op until all bleeding stops so I took that to mean it is OK once I get the all clear... Anyone else had different advice?

I was told once the bleeding had stopped from m/c it was ok to BD. But different Drs have different views on things. when you see your Dr tomorrow just ask for their opp.

I am not too sure either, but after my 2 d&c's I was definately told to avoid 'it' for some time! Get your GP to check it out!
The only reason they want you not to conceive (this is my understanding anyway and I might be wrong) is so it makes it easier for them to work out your due date! If it were me and this was the only reason, I would not bother using contraception! I would feel natural is better!!!
Check it out with the Dr hun.
I am so sad to hear your news. Fingers crossed for that BFP again soon.
Sending lots of love Emily x x x
