Hello,

Ive been reading on the internet that aspirin can be used to reduce the risk of haematoma in pregnancy which ended my pregnancy a few days ago. Has anyone else had this problem and then taken aspirin in a further pregnancy which resulted in a healthy born baby. I have been to my doctor this morning and after three miscarriages in 6 months, he is happy for me to try this when we are up to trying again. I think basically, I am looking for positive stories to make me more positive. I have read lots of things about people with haematoma who bled and still retained their baby but I was bleeding too much and baby had to be removed and then i had blood transfusions. The Doctor told me it was the right decision to take baby away but you can't help wondering can you?

Hope someone can help and give me a boost.

Hi Tra
Sorry once again about your loss.
I too have had recurrent miscarriages but no one is sure of hte cause just yet. However last time I saw the consultant i was actually pregnant and she said one of the best things for me to do would be to take 75mg baby aspirin every day. I went to the chemist to buy some and I had to ask behind the pharmacy counter as it was not available off the shelf.
I have heard of lots of people taking this and it has helped them carry a baby full term - I hope this is true for you.

Is your doctor now referring you to a specialist as now that you have had 3 miscarriages they tend to refer people?

Hope this is of some help

Thank you for your reply, it helps to hear from people who know what you are going through. Do I sound heartless to mention ttc already. My doctor was lovely this morning and said there is no reason why we can't try after my next normal period comes. He told me to let him know as soon as I am pregnant and he will refer me for a scan straight away and will be monitored more closely but I don't know who that would be with. I hope you are getting answers but it seems to take so long doesn't it?

Hi Tra
I don't think you are heartless at all by thinking of TTC again. Sometimes that will be the best healer. Has your Dr told you to start taking them already? There is quite a lot of things about it on the net (but don't believe everything you read!!) if you google baby aspirin and preganacy.

Good luck!

Hi Trad,
Only me,,
I know its completley unrelated but i know my nan has always taken asprin to thin her blood.. to stop it clotting, which i am guessing is what a heamatoma is?? don't know much about it really and ive never googled it in the pregnancy related sense, so it would be similar thing i suppose, for you to take the asprin, to prevent blood clot..?

No, i do not think you are heartless to begin ttc again, i always have straight away, i think it helps a little with the healing, although it never goes away completley.
I think thats why ive always gone on to keep having more babies.. it probably sounds selfish to some, but i am always trying to replace the ones i have lost, which i know is never going to happen, and i really struggle mentally/emotionally if i am not pg over xmas as 2 of them i lost with Dh over xmas,
like they say, you never get over the loss, but you do learn to cope with it. Maybe?

I'm not sure if there is one on here, but a board i used to post on when Holly was little had a TTCAL(TTC after loss)thread, I was on it myself before i had mirena put bk in as i couldnt handle the stress of ttc and being let down, and i think sometimes, as others on the normal ttc thread are trying to concieve their 1st or have never lost a pg, its a great support system as you are all in the same boat, and been through it before.
Just a thought, hope you don't mind me sticking my oar in here, but i understand the need to ttc again so soon trad and i wish you all the best, just you look after yourself and make sure you and your body is really ready hun. must go before my keyboard blows up from crying into it.
((((((((((((((((hugs)))))))))))))))))))))

Thank you so much for your reply angel. It was really sweet of you. I feel I need to vent, I was angry today and wanted to throw stuff but I am doing the british upper lip thing and not trying to show it.

Billy I am going to start taking the aspirin as soon as I stop bleeding, sort of like starting with a clean palette with the womb being deep cleaned and clot free is how I sort of see it.

Hi Trad

I don't know lots about this but just wanted to let you know how sorry I am to hear of your loss.

I had a haematoma when I was pregnant but I was never told to take anything for it. As I had many other problems it became something which was deemed unimportant at the time. I guess I didn't realise it could have been a serious issue. Basically though it was picked up at a detailed scan when I was referred to the regional Foetal medicine Unit (18 weeks). The staff were amazed that I hadn't bled when they saw the haematoma. However the bleeding did begin and I bled fairly heavily on and off for about the last 8 weeks of the pregnancy (only got to 29+6).

I have heard of many ladies taking baby asprin when pregnant especially women with fertility problems. I really hope this works for you

Thank you Mandy. I don't seem to have a problem getting pregnant, just keeping them. I don't know if you can see it but on my pic, It shows my four children aged from 17 down to 21 months, never had any of this with them so wonder if its my lupus or age but no one seems to think it is. I've been reading that haematoma can be caused by lupus and be treated with aspirin but no one has suggested it to me. I read it up and said to my doc and he agreed. I feel it may seem to people that I am just being greedy to want another child when I already have four but we wanted a companion for Bria to grow up with and baby to complete our family. Congrats on Jake. Tough little boy.

kt. Thank you. Gosh you haven't got long to go. Good luck.
