Gave birth to my first child 10 years ago. Had a rough time and extremely nervous of repeating the experience. Worried to the point whereby I would like an elective c-section but they don't do them in this area. Also worried about the health implications of giving birth at 35. Any thoughts or views gratefully received.
Ps Sorry for seeming like such a coward but the I remember it like it was yesterday!

to seanacy, i had an emergency c-section and it was the worst experience of my life, although i got a gorgeous baby girl, after i could not move to care for her, maybe i was being a coward but it took ages to get of the bed, ages to be able to walk properly and i was told i was not allowed to push the buggy up hills or curbs, i want more babies one day but it the thought of going through that again that puts me off. But it might be different for you i know a woman who loved having her c-section, she cant wait to have another one. Hope all goes well. from mummylovescammy

I had an emergancy C-section but I need to disagree with MLS (sorry), I was 32 when I had it (last march) and I was fine. Many of they girls around me could not move or sit due to appeziotamy (spelling?) stitches and needing to keep ice between their legs because they where sore. I had her at 21.53 and was up and about at 8.00am, yes a little stiff but I had a shower and got on with it who is'nt sore after major abdominal surgery? I was much more mobile than most of the 'natural' birth mothers and my little girl was the best behaved in the ward she was so content and did not have the squashed look that many natural births have (no disrespect to natural birth babies meant honestly, I did want a natural birth myself), no birth marks either. We where both fine. If it had been that bad I would not be trying for a second baby and the thought of another section does not bother me. My friend had one 4 weeks before me and she had a section too infact this time she wants an elected section too she prefered it and she was your age last time and will be 37 almost 38 this time. My best mate has lived in the states for the past 15 years now and she has had 4 emergancy c-sections (you are only suppose to get 3 tops) and she is fantastic, she looks fantastic too (a little jealous can you tell), 36 with her last one.
Don't worry you will be fine, do what is right for you we are all different and all have different experiences.
take care lesley xxx.

Hi, im aggreeing with mummylovescammy! I had my first baby 6 years ago by emergency c-section ans as she describes mine to was the worst experience of my life. I could'nt get out of bed for 2 days and even after that i walked around doubled over for a further week and a half. the bonding with your baby is also really hard when you cant even care for your baby properly for days. I have since had three normal births all being absolutely wonderful and i would ALWAYS reccomend natural birth over c-section. dont let one bad experience put you of the most natural thing in the world! :-) and good luck with whatever you decide.
