I'm into my 3rd year of my Implanon contraceptive implant and so far have had no problems at all.
When I had it inserted I was overweight, but in the last two years have put on even more weight...and I've read quite a bit on the net that the Implanon can become less effective after 2 years if you are overweight.
The last couple of weeks I have been feeling tired with nausea and headaches, and also heartburn...which I know are all common signs of pregnancy.
Has anyone heard of anyone falling pregnant whilst using Implanon, or heard of anything about it becoming less effective if you are overweight?? I know it's a very reliable method of contraception and the odds are I'm not pregnant, but I would be very grateful for any imput you may have??
Thanks, Kat xx

Hey miss Kat, There is a suspicion that the implanon may lose some of its power in the last 6 months if you have a BMI of over 35. It is not proven and the implanon instructions say 3 years for everyone. Some family planning clinics say to change them at 2 and a half years to be 100% safe. If you are in the last 6 months of your implant and overweight I would do a test to be safe and maybe get alone to your family planning clinic to ask their advice about an early change. Good luck xxx
