Thanks alot for the reply Kirsten, It makes it a little less worrying if you can talk to someone who has gone through it all and come through it to have healthy babies ...

I just went to the loo and its still there - little specs and a little more then a spec sometimes..

Do you think i should wait until my appointment on the 30th as this is my initial appointment where i am weighed - blood pressure etc. or shall i call them??

god willing.. baby will be due in the first week of september.. once im in the clear i am hoping on joining the Sept 08 October 08 thread!!

Im trying not to think about it too much - but its a bit hard!!

Thanks for the advice xx

I know - its an awful feeling- i found myself going to the toilet around 30 times a day, just to wipe and see if anything was there!!

If it would put your mind at rest i would give them a ring to see if they can get you an emergency scan appointment. The scan they would do would obviously be an internal one as it is so early so this can also make you bleed a little more.

How long has this been happening for?

I have just found out i have an erosion on my cervix due to hormone levels and that is what is causing my bleeding at the moment.

I really wouldnt try to worry 2 much, try to rest as much as possible.

Give your midwife a ring and see what she says, but dont worry, it happens to loads of women and they come out with healthy babies at the end - but i know how you must be feeling, its the worst feeling in the world.

Hope everything is OK, please let me know

Hi,
Shaz, you may get away with an external scan as i had an emergency scan at what i thought was 7 weeks but i wasnt quite that, they should try at 9 weeks to do external and will prob be able to see the baby, i didn't even have a full bladder to push uterus up and was still ok, just ask if they can avoid internal if, as kirsten says its going to aggrievate bleeding, good luck! and i would also call for an emergency scan.

Hi Kirsten and Angel,

I called the Midwife and she suggested that it is quite normal and said that normally this lasts a couple of days and she also said to keep an eye on it and if it gets worse..bleeds rather than there being specs of blood, to contact the GP and he would arrange an emergency scan...

I think i might see how i go tonight.. went to the loo again just now and thank god.. all seems ok.. but its just mega stressul.

I will see if anything further or worse happens as she said it may clear up in a day or so and as my period would have been due, this may also be causing it..

Kirsten - An erosion?? what caused that.. just the hormones?? Oh this is scary isnt it.. im trying not to panic.. but i think i will be ok..

Angel - You had bleeding too??

Hi SSSL,

Yes it is mega stressful, but as your midwife said its very common so try not to worry too much, but do keep an eye on it. It should clear up soon.

Yeah i have a cervical erosion - it can be caused by an infection but i have been checked and havent got one, so they said my hormone levels would of caused it. Its nothing really too worry about its very common in pregnancies. It can just bleed every so often. I very much doubt this is what you have as i think my doc said they only come abit later in pregnancy. The only problem i have with this is that my blood group is rhesus neg so everytime i have a bleed i have to go and get an anti-d injection.

How have you been - hope you feeling better

Morning Kirsten...

I'm feeling a lot better today thanks.. everything seems clear since late afternoon yesterday... lets hope it stays that way...

I guess the erosion is not anything which could have been controlled by you so it can't be helped... as well as loads more trials and tribulations of preganancy!?!?!

Have you been put onto any sort of tablets for lack of iron or anything like that because of the loss of blood? What is an anti-d injection?

How are you keeping??? Razzer

Hiya,

No as im only loosing tiny tiny little spots now. Not really anything to worry about. And nope, this erosion is something i couldnt have stopped myself.

re the Anti-D. This is because my blood group is rhesus neg. This means my red blood cells are missing something which rhesus positive people have, therefore if my baby is positive and our bloods mix (this can happen at birth or through bleeding and several other things) my body will produce anti-bodies. Therefore it wont affect this pregnancy, but any future pregancies, the antibodies in my body would kill the baby. The Anti-D injection stops the anti-bodies being produced. However, please dont worry about this if you dont know if your blood type is positive or negative because the blood can only mix after 12 weeks anyway. And only 8% of the population are negative. Sorry that was so longwinded - hope it made sense!!

If you get any more spotting dont worry i got some nearly everyday for about 4 weeks - plu a little heavier bleeding, but if it does get any heavier give your midwife a ring back.

Yes im feeling pretty good at the moment thanks, i had really bad morning sickness from week 6 to week 12, ended up in hospital over christmas because i was dehydrated, and was put on a drip. Id lost 2 stone!! Just getting a little worried now as i totally dont feel pregnant anymore, all my bloating has gone in the alst couple of days and all my pains and twinges have gone, and i am still waiting too feel the baby move, i cant wait!!

Got my triple test tomorrow, really nervous as my mum had a spina bifida baby. Hopefully my chances for downs should be quite low though as im only 20.

Is this your first pregnancy, was it planned?

Hi sssl-

I've only just spotted this thread has been bumped up i would have replied sooner if had of realised.

As you know i started this thread.
I had bleeds too.
On at 5w then 7w,8w,10w,12w.
Ranging from very sudden gush of bright red blood the first couple of times to then brown stuff the last few times.
The first couple of times i was also very uncomfortable with the bleeding which was very scary.
I have had 4 scans now and listened to the heartbeat twice and everything is fine with the baby.
I have just had a collection of blood that builds up and then releases itself very unexpectably.
They do not know why people bleed but that alot do and go on to have healthy pregnancy.
Since i have started to tell people of my pregnancy i have been very surprised how many people have gone on to say that they have bled aswell.
It is much more common than you think but people just don't talk about it very much.
There is a couple of girls on the jul/aug thread that have experienced bleeding also.
The hosptial told me that the uncomfortable feeling that you get when you bleed is because your cervix has to open slightly to let the blood out.
The cervix should be tightly closed during pregnancy so it is going to be uncomfortable when it happens.
I am 14w tomorrow and haven't had red blood for over 5 weeks and no brown blood for over a week.
But saying that i will be very surprised if i don't see it again a some point.
I had a scan at 7w,8w,10w,12w then first scan was very small but we could definealty see a heartbeat on an external scan and at 8w you can see a baby and a heartbeat.
So if you are worried insist on a scan to put your mind at rest as they will not push for you to have a scan if you don't make them.
The first 12w are stressful enough so if it will put your mind at rest get onto them.
Good luck and i'm sure eevrything will be fine.

I'm glad to hear your feeling better now kirsten - you must have been really worried.. and on top of the bleeding this anti-d thing.. which did make sense thanks to the longwindedness!!!

I havent really had much in the form of sickness, been ok .. just feeling like i am going to be sick.. and then having a mint or something would make me feel better - other than that .. just constipation and gas!

This is my first pregnancy and it was kind of planned but kind of not.. we just werent using any contraception - and it was bound to happen- but thats what we were hoping... i wasnt calculating when i would be ovulating and all that though..
Really excited though...

I hope your scan goes well, im sure it will all be fine.. good luck with that!! il be thinking of you!

How about you?? First baby??

Amy - I initially read your story and thought that this would be useful to read thats why i posted my situation on here. It is good that you shared your experiences and thank god all is ok with you now and others can read your experience and this can be encouraging to others .. like me.

Like you said, it is much more common than thought.. and it was a huge comfort to read that most times it means that you can go on to have a healthy baby.. im glad everything is better with you now..

well you said that the first 12 weeks are stressful.. i thought i only had 3 weeks to get there but i am 8 and half weeks pregnant - so just a bit longer!

Anyway thanks for the wishes.. and hope everything goes well for you too.. xx

Shaz
xx

Hi,
No ive never had bleeding in my term pg's but had 5 early m/c's,
I had an emergency scan early on with this pg as i had sudden loss of symptoms and pain in side..which only turned out to be an ovarian cyst the size of a tennis ball Eeker
which thankfully has almost shrunk right down now- only 3.5cm at last scan!
Was just offering advice on early scans as ive had a few.. external and internal..!
Hope you are feeling a little better about it all now that you have spoken with your MW.
