Hi girlies.
What a crazy couple of days it has been.
I haven't had chance to come on yet with my birth story so here it goes and i'll try to remember it all!
I spent the afternoon with my sister on Wednesday.
I had a sudden back pain which took my breath away and i had to get on all fours with the pain i was also nearly sick but i thought that he had just got trapped on a nerve!
So it went away completely and it thought nothing of it again.
I went to sleep that night and about 11.30 was awoken because i thought i had pee'd myself until i got up to go to the loo and water gushed out of me on the way.
I sat on the loo and wiped and had a bit of a show so i went to wake up dh who thought i said that someone had broke in!(sleep talker)
we phoned the birth unit and they said it sounded like a watery show and to try to go back to sleep unless it got any worse.
Anyway as soon as i put the phone down i had 3 more gushes of watery stuff so i phoned them back and they said to come straight in.
I really didn't think anything was happening as i wasn't having any pain at all i just thought i had lost my waters!
I got there and they examined the pad i had on and kept me waiting for a bit cause they were busy.
The midwife came back and took my bp but they wouldn't examine me cause my water's had gone incase of infection.
Anyway she then listened to the heartbeat with a doppler and i said 'ooh im having a Braxton Hick ' and she said 'no it's a contraction!'
So i knew i was in for the long haul then.
Basically from that point the 'Braxton Hicks' turned to period pain the to intense period pain in a couple of hours until they were get on all fours pains and coming every 3 mins.
I then said i would like some pain relief when i excepted the fact he was coming and there was nothing i could do to stop it!
So i had 2 co-codamol and got into a warm bath until i could decide what i wanted for the pain.
But then in the bath i felt like i needed a giant poo and a very strong urgency to push!
So i got out and told the midwife who then examined me to be fully dilated and ready to push.
So there was literally no time for pain relief as i was going to have to start pushing.
So i went for it with each contraction i pushed him further and further out until after about 11 hours after my water broke i finally got him out.
The cord was round his neck twice but he was crying and very healthy.
Then the fun began and they gave me the injection to deliver my placenta and the bloody thing wouldn't come out.
So after 55 mins and still no sign they started talking about manually removing it with an epideral!
But thank got it came out just after as i would have been really pissed off to have had no pain relief and to have had to have some for the placenta.
Anyway he was 7lbs2oz which surprised me i thought he would be heavier but he is absolutely gorgeous.
I had no stitches but a few grazes and small tears which are a bit sore but not too bad.
I can't believe how much you forget about the birth as soon as they are out it is like the pain has vanished and it is all worth it.
He is a very good baby though he sleep most of the day but won't sleep in his crib.
He sleeps in the moses basket but only for an hour then he starts crying.
So we put him with us for a bit and he goes back in but only for an hour at a time.
Breast feeding started out well but my nipples are so sore it is becoming quite painful but the midwife is coming tomorrow so i can talk to her about it.
I would do it all over in a second it was painful but so worth it when you see them for the first time.
I just can't believe he was in my tummy!
I can't do personal as i have only just got a bit of time to do this as i want a bath to try and sooth the nips and the fanny!
I'll be back as soon as poss.
I hope everyone is doing well and the new arrivals.
I didn't even get 2 week off work so enjoy it whilst you can just incase!
Lots of love Amy and Ciaran. xxxxxxx
