Aw bless you Angel with your little short post so I wouldn't worry about you! Poor thing with a virus and a houseful of kids with the virus too. Use the hayfever spray at regular intervals, because it's not meant to treat symptoms, it's meant to prevent them and you have to use it regularly to build it up in your system - bit like antibiotics - sorry if you already know this but it was a revelation to me when I started using a spray properly, rather than thinking it was a decongestant.

We are getting some 'pre birth' symptoms going on now aren't we (get me, the royal 'we' - I mean you lot!) Kirsti with her choleostasis, babyno5 and her troublesome stitch, Pobs and her is-it-or-isn't-it night. And Angel with her virus and poor old Kate with her UTI - yuck yuck yuck. Hope you are all bearing up you poor lovelies.

Pobs, I am so jealous at your 'ooooh no time to post now, I'm off out to lunch with my friends' - spot the lady of leisure! Two weeks and a day, or 11 working days, til I can join you!!

Have just found out I passed that exam I was revising for over the first May bank holiday YAY!!!!! So it was all worth it in the end!!! I don't know my score yet but you can ring to be told pass or fail. I thought I'd done really badly so I'm really pleased to have passed.

Also just had a really useful breastfeeding workshop in our local stand-alone midwifery led unit. Now I thought I'd be going to the MLU in our large teaching hospital, because it's one floor down from the consultant led unit, in case of emergency. But I went there on Sunday with DH and was really put off, it's so clinical, with tiny rooms you literally couldn't move around in, and it's a good 10-15 minute walk from the entrance, so if you were having contractions you'd be having them in the corridor on the way! The difference with the stand alone unit was incredible - it was purpose built in 2006 so it's got huge rooms, proper beds, the same bedroom furniture I have at home, and was just lovely and peaceful and flexible (visitors any time, you can use your mobile phone etc). So now i'm thinking I might go to the stand alone unit and just hope I'm not an emergency!!

What's everyone else doing?? Am I taking too much of a risk?

anyway, hope you are all dealing with your various issues okay - and fingers crossed for speedy recoveries all round.

Hi to everyone else who hasn't posted

Hi sezzy,
CONGRATULATIONS on passing your exam!! Well done, how quick did it go from when you did it to getting your results!
I didn't know that with the spray actually, maybe its different with mine as i am only allowed 2 spays a day- its a steroid one, is yours?
God this illness is really taking it out of me.. my 2nd day in bed and i NEVER go to bed when i'm ill..
I don't really know about the stand alone units etc, as I have always just been booked in at the maternity unit which is linked to the hospital via link corridor-
Hospital is 15 mins away (at normal travelling speed lol!) and then ive had all mine there! I dont think we have any other options, so i wouldn't know hun.
I dont mind it really as the rooms are a decent size, you can move around them freely, nothing special there and no luxuries.. but then i dont mind really, so long as baby is ok and i get the care i am entitled to, it has theatre on the floor above and in an emergency i'd be ok, Ive never had any complaints with having the kids there (apart from toilets could do with more regular cleaning..beats me why some people like to leave their blood everywhere, so glad i had wipes with me when i went in this time.. it beats me why grown women cannot clean up after themselves.)
Anyway..that aside, I feel like poop still but have to take Abs & Jordan to dentist, prob not a good idea with them being a bit off, but they are only just starting with the sore throat, they dont look ill! I'd rather take them now as i will have 4 of them next time to struggle up 2 flights of stairs with if i cancel and re-book, dear me.. 4 little blighters!!!!

babyno5.. OMG, a big baby!! I bet it feels funny growing to this stage! Hope they get that stitch out ASAP for you if its giving you grief,
Good luck for tuesday is that when they will decide?

Kirsty.. Oh no, the CHOLESTASIS!! I cant believe it! So thats regular scans and appointments for you til Bday..at least they will be keeping an eye on you eh?
I think that the 1st part of July is going to be very busy with babies popping out all over the place!! ooohhh, sooo exciting!

well i gotta go make myself look half decent and get these to dentist, hoping Dh get home soon and he can go..or at least drop us off so i dont have to faff about parking and walking...

bye bye for now,
Emma. x

HI Angel, you poor thing you really are poorly aren't you? Just a quickie as I'm in work but yes, with the steroid sprays you do need to use them as directed (twice a day in your case) and not just when the hayfever is bad, that way you build up an immunity. The steroid sprays won't treat the symptoms once you've got them but should help prevent them occurring in the first place. And they do take a few days to get up to 'full speed' as it were.

I'll try and pop back on tonight girls

Hiya! Big Grin
How is everyone doing?
I have had a good day off today with my mum.
Debenhams had a 50% off sale so i bought nursing bras and more undies for my hospital bag.
Also got a cute mini toothpaste and deodorant from boots. Roll Eyes
Checked out wedding pressies for my sis and i had an idea of a wedding certificate holder like a scroll and i have got a price to have it engraved so i think i will order that next week then i know it is taken care of.

Jessley- Nice to hear from you. Can you believe how fast our time has gone?
We are up next on the due in threads i wouldn't be surprised if someone has there little one soon.
Who i don't know. Wink

Sezzy- Yes i do agree me and Angel can talk for Britain and give me until the end of next week and you won't shut me up cause i won't be working!
Thanks for the bump comment that is cute of you to say. Smiler
People keep saying how neat i am but my tummy measures only just under what it should i just have a long body so my boy has plenty of room!
Still getting into my jeans though can't sit down in them for long but they fit! Big Grin
What is the Raspberry leaf tea like?
I would go with your gut feeling on the unit you want you're baby in you have to feel comfortable in the end.
And well done on passing your exam you clever clogs! Wink

Angel- Oh my god i just clocked your ticker you are nearly 38 weeks it can't be true! Eeker
See why people say i am neat now but it feels big to me.
I might be really neat but i bet i have a whopper!
My jeans fit me now so i would think they will fit after.
I will do some predictions for fun give me til the weekend so i can get in my zone. Big Grin
I don't think you will be early though mate i think he is just teasing you. Roll Eyes

Pobs- Oh my god you lot stop with the contractions already it's not time yet and i haven't done my predictions! Eeker
What will happen about the elective c section though?
Are they keeping an eye on you?

Kate- Poor you i have never had a uti and i hope i never do but isn't cranberry juice meant to help or is that something completely different.
I purchased a couple of nighties for giving birth in that i doubt i will wear after but for a fiver you can't go wrong.
Thinking about just getting a couple of cheep nighties with buttons down for nursing rather than spending a fortune on proper nursing ones.

Babyno5- Oh my god how exiting.
Is he definately just big or maybe you are further than you thought?
So we are waiting til Tuesday then to see what is going on!

Kirsti- What is Cholestasis then?
Everyone is going to have their babies early at this rate and i'll be posting to myself!

Hi to everyone else although i think i pretty much chatted to everyone.
I don't know i can't keep up with it!
Anyway we put our crib up yesterday and it's lush. Smiler
We are so nearly there just struggling finding somewhere that does nice curtains for a nursery.
I want light blue or lemon but not ones that let loads of light in and our window is really wide.
Apart from that i need to finalise hospital bag but so nearly there now!
Back on soon maybe later before i have my relaxing bath!
Amy. x

Hi Amy, check out this website

http://www.kidsfabrics.co.uk/

They've got some goooorgeous fabrics, and they do a making-up service too (sounds like something you book when you've had a row with your DH doesn't it?!!). We're going for the jungle spot print. I got some samples and they came in a day and are really good quality fabric.

LMAO at your 'getting in the zone' comment - what are you like?!!

Tomorrow I have two weeks exactly left in work... reckon me and you will send this thread through the roof when that happens LOL!

The raspberry leaf tea actually tastes quite nice, I think, which helps. Ooooh, you've reminded me, I'm on two cuppas a day now and I need another one.

HI everyone else!

Hellloooo,

At last, Have tried to post againsince yesterday but wouldn't let me...not sure if its my computer or the site..anyway i'm here now!!!

Have been to see the MW today, saw a completly new one but it was really nice as she isn't as divery (if thats a word) as the other two and actually sat and talked to me about loads of stuff which I really needed. I did get a ticking off though as she said she doesn't think ive been eating and looking after myself properly as there were ketones ++ in my urine, not sure why as apart from yesterday (I was feeling rough) I have been eating really well and healthy, she said it could just be because i'm tired. There was also protein+ but as ive had no headaches or high blood preasure she isn't too worried. She said if I go naturally then depending on how i'm progressing they may just leave me to go naturally. I will hvae to go into hospital early on in labour to be monitored if I do though. Baby is lying back to back so she said thats why Ive had such terrible backache and that it ment labour would be felt more in my back. Then she scared me by saying it is quite possible I won't make my planned section day, baby is sitting right on the brim...How exciting!!!!! the last thing she said was that baby is BIG....about 8 1/2 9lb she thinks. So I unpacked the newborn sleepsuits that looked tiny and re packed the 0-3months ones LOL.

I have so much to say (sorry thats what happens when you are a while posting) I got so spoilt from the people at work on my last day, we got a vibrating cosy chair, listening monitor, vouchers, sooooo many outfits, blankets, facial voucher for me, smellies for me and baby...just so much stuff, I was really emotional on my last day everyone made such a fuss of me, I'm a very lucky girl. The head gave me a huge lovely bouquet of flowers aswell...made me blush LOL

right now for personals...

Angel...sorry to hear you are so poorly but I guess its best you all get it now than when you are in labour. Hopefully you will get over this, regain your strength then baby will come. Sending you and the kiddies hugs. (())(())

Amy.... I didn't think to look in debenhams for nursing bras..DOH. Thats the only think I need now. Our monitor is a fisher price one from boots..its really nice. Not long till you finish work hun. I bought some lovely cheap granny knickers for my hospital bag today LOL. They are not keeping an eye on me, thats it now I have no more MW appointments Frowner although it means the end is near. Love the bump pic's...very neat!!!

Sezzy.... CONGRATULATIONS girl....excellent you have passed, i'm still waiting to hear. Hope you are feeeling a little better. I have never suffered with hayfever but DF does so can sympathise. Not long till you finish work either, bet you can't wait, now ive finished I can't believe I was still working last week as I feel completly shattered now ive stopped. The stand alone unit sounds lovely. I think if you are low risk and they are willing for you to give birth there then go for it. Its better to be somewhere you feel comfortable and at ease. What is the policy on drugs though, the birthing unit near us only deals with gas and air. If I have to stay in longer than we think then I am going to be transferred to ours.

Kate....poor you suffering with the dreaded UTI...I hvae suffered for years with them so know exactly what you are going through. touchwood I have been lucky this pregancy but with DS I was plagued. Do you like cranberry juice??? I swear by it, drink it everyday and it does really help. hope ben is doing ok.

Kirsti..Its good that the hospital are looking after you and your choleostasis. How exciting you get to hvae baby earlier, how do you feel about hvaing your c section???

Jessy...nice to see you posting, another MW with terrible guesswork then Roll Eyes

Babyno5....SOOO we are both having big babies then??? what is your guess??? I think mine will be about 8lb 13. Once they take your stitch out does that mean you are likely to go into labour??? or doesn't it change anything???

Right I think thats everyone....soooo sooorrry if ive missed anyone...i'm out of practice!!!

Going to go upload a bump pic now as DF took on earlier to send to his brother and we found the camera/computer lead at last.

Catch up tomorrow. Love a very uncomfortable Pobs xxxx

Well it's me again! Big Grin
Just had a lush bubble bath, legs and armpits shaved i feel smooth as a baby's bum.
Gonna slide right out the bed tonight! Big Grin

Sezzy- Thanks for the website i'll check that one out now.
I won't need to do predictions soon if all these ju/aug babies come early i won't have chance!
Hold em in girls i want to see if i have the gift! Smiler
Might try some Raspberry leaf tea soon i have heard mixed things about it but never that it did any harm.

Pobs- Ooh you back again too. Smiler
I think if your body wants to try it naturally then go with it but the C-Section thing has to happen then it has to happen.
They will take care of you and decide what's best for you and your madam.
Who sounds like she is going to be big but i have heard people say they have been told the same and their babies are much less than the midwife said.
I think you only know when they come out for sure.
Do you reckon if i ask my midwife at my next apt a week today she will be able to see what sort of weight she thinks my boy will be?
But then again do i want to know! Eeker
I think my little man i against my back that is when i get bad legs at night.
If you have a Debenhams near you i would def check it out some things are 50% off and some down to 20%but it is def worth a look.
I would have thought you would have had more midwife apts though i am getting them up until birth or is that a first time mum thing? Confused

Speak to you girls later off to pluck my eyebrows! Eeker

Amy, my God woman, I've heard of the nesting instinct but that's the first time I've heard of a woman making a nest out of her body hair LOL!! Big Grin Am quite envious though in a way, I'm keeping on top of the leg hair (I epilate, much easier) but 'down there' is a bit of a forest IYKWIM Red Face and I'm not sure what I can do to sort it out - I can't see down there any more LOL!!!

Pobs, happy 37 weeks hun!!! YAY for being term!!! Big Grin how cool if your little un decides to come early, bless her!! Glad you had a nice m/w and shame you don't get many appointments. I think it's terrible, I know the logic behind it but you must want reassurance as much as any first time mum and each pg is different. HOpe your ketones and protein come down soon though, sound a bit worrying Frowner And am so jealous, your sending-off sounds great, TBH I'll be lucky to get a card from my work, it's always me that organises cards and things, even for people not in my team, for example someone is leavign today and no-one had bothered, they're hopeless. Ah well! I won't care the best pressie will be to be out of there!!

Have jsut come back from m/w myself. Baby's measuring spot on, is head down with back facing my front, urine and BP fine so I'm happy about that. She comes to the house for the 36 week appt. apparently, to talk about birth options and plans, little does she know that Mrs Organised here has already written hers and decided where she's going!! It'll be her easiest ever appt.!!

Hope the rest of you are all okay - I'd better go now - sneaky post before getting back into work after m/w
xx

Hiya!
Knackered today i am not looking forward to working til 7 tomorrow but it is one more day less that i have to go.
5 working days until i finish! Big Grin

Sezzy- You funny bugger!
Yes actually i sympathise on the 'forest' i normally use hair removing cream and it is fine but last time i used it it brought me out in a rash on my bits. Eeker
So i have gone au natural since i thought a hairy one is better looking than one that looks diseased!
I was thinking about doing it around due date but i really don't think we will care what our fairies look like when we are squeezing 8 pounders out of it!
Anyway i came on for a civilised discussion not to talk about fannies! Big Grin

Anyway me and Dh watching a film tonight after Hollyoaks.
I know it's pretty bad but i can't help it.
I need to sleep well tonight to brace me for a busy day tomorrow.
Hope everyone else is ok and not giving birth quite yet!
Speak to you soon. Smiler

Ahahahahahahaha Amy, you came to the wrong place if you were after a civilised discussion!!! Big Grin And correct me if I'm wrong but isn't it you that usually starts the fanny conversations?!! Razzer Yeah, you're right, let's talk about the state of the world economy or something.

NAAAAHH!!! Wink

Hope you're ok... Fridays are tough for you aren't they? Am I right in thinking this will be your last Friday if you only have 5 more working days, I'm thinking Saturday and Monday-Thurs next week? Or don't you have one of those off, in which casewill next Fri be your last day?

Anyway. all the best for tomorrow, whichever it is. Roll on finishing for me too, I actually was out of steam and knackered by this morning this week whereas up till now at least I've made it to Friday. Ah well, next week is my last full week in work! Then bring on the lady garden discussions!!!
