Hi ladies, am in need of your words of advice and support Frowner

Just been to MW and I have sugare in my urine, have to go back for another first-urine dip and if still sugar then I'll be referred for a glucose tolerance test. Beanie's measuring big for dates too - 25 weeks instead of 23+6 (my ticker's wrong). What does all this mean? What can I do about it? I havent had anything sugary today or yesterday, she kept asking me if I put sugar in tea or on cereal or eat lots of chocolate or biscuits and I don't at all! aaanyway any advice you have gratefully received.

Kate, love you, you have been in the wars, and there's me complaining about a bit of sugar in my urine. hope things settle down for you on the IBS/reflux/sciatica front. Work's been okay but I've been having to finish my essay in the eves so been a bit tired. I'll finish it tonight and post it tomorrow YAY! Am planning to work up to 36 weeks, but I have a couple of weeks' leave I was going to carry over that I can take if it all gets too much. I project manage, and I've had to stop bidding for projects because I won't be there to complete them, so I'm hoping that work will gradually get easier and easier from mid-end May onwards.... fingers crossed! Haha, it never works like that does it?!

Dying to see the bump pics but for some reason I can't get onto MSN on my work laptop, just my home desktop, so I'll have to wait.

Angel, glad someone's taking your pain seriously and glad it's getting sorted out, that's excellent news. Well done on getting to 28 weeks, I know that was a date you were holding out for! NO wonder you're tired lovely, you're 28 weeks pregnant and you have three little troublemakers to run round after, plus you've been running round to Manchester and stff - easier said than done I know but can you find a way to give yourself a break?? Gt DH to look after the kids for a few hours whilst you sleep or swim or have a massage??

Amy, I LMAO at your leg over comment!! And thanks, because I'vebeen getting that pain at night and it really works doesn't it? How are things? Work ok? Any full heads of colour coming up?? Did you find stuff on your shopping mission? So cool that you're seeing your belly move loads. I saw mine move for the first time yesterday too, it's amazing isn't it?!

Kirstin, hope you and your cump are okay too! Wink

Hi Pobs, PJ, Babyno5 and Meadow Cool

Anyway, hope you are all well. If any of you have any words of advice I'd really like to hear them. I googled gestational diabetes and I really wish I hadn't now Frowner

Love Sezzy xx

hey all-

Angel - ur hip pains sound awful! Glad the physio could help abit - its the size on that bump on such a little you thats doing it i tell you hehe! I also feel soo pale - except for my belly hehe, we went away in december to the dominican so i got abit of a tan, an its stayed on my belly hehe, all mw's comment on my tanned belly. But i do feel like getting a spray tan on the rest of my body, i feel really ruff looking hehe. i know i cant believe how far along we both are to, 28 weeks already! oh my god - its goin sooo fast, yet soo slow hehe! i also have afro hair today - i desperatley need to straighten it! ha!

Kate - Your indigestion sounds terrible! i only get it a couple of times a week and i thought i was suffering! Ooh centre parcs sounds fab, i love it there! me and dp will be 21 in november so we are going to book to go there wiv the baby! Bet you cant wait for your 3d scan - will be lovely for your dh too! ive been counting down the weeks since i booked mine 8 weeks ago - and yes, its come really really fast! Cant believe your getting so much movement, i didnt get any definate movement til i was about 25 weeks hehe, and now she doesnt move loads and loads, just a few times a day, probably really lazy like her mummy and daddy hehe! I hope not loads of movement doesnt mean anything bad though!

Pops - Sorry to here about you spotting - i havent had any since about 17 weeks (ish) but my friend who is 4 weeks ahead of me did at 27 weeks (same as you), she went to the hospital and all was fine - they told her this can just happen sometimes and its nothing to worry about! and shes still fine now at 32 weeks! I know how you must e worried though i know i would be too! but everything will be fine! I get that wet down there feeling though to sometimes and go to the toilet to check - most days in fact! im also feeling a little crampy today to! Btw my belly deffo isnt tight at all - thats why im lied down otherwise all you would see is flab hehe! ill post a standing up one and you can see! i hope my bellys going to tighten out too as i dont look pregnant just fat haha!
Good news about your pram - bet your made up, i also ordered mine off ebay but went to pick it up because the shop wasnt far away from my town so was a waste to spend £30 on delivery, i love it though! Was practicing pushing it when i got it hehe! but its at dp's nans now so im missing it!

Will post a piccy of my face on msn now - how silly of me not to do that anyway!

Im not having loads and loads of movements from baby - just a few a day - do you think i should be concerned?

Love kirsten xx

I have to have the Glucose tolerence test next thursday as im over weight and diabetes runs in my family! Im a little nervous but trying not to worry too much - not sure what the implications of having gestational diabetes are though - just a bigger baby and i know you have to watch what you eat!

But suger in urine doesnt mean u will have it - my friend had sugar and it turned out to be nothing! dont worry too much.

let me know if u find anything out about gestational diabetes!

Thanks

Ha ha, we're like buses us lot, no posts for ages then three of us post at once!

You might not want to know what I found out about gestational diabetes... nothing tragic don't worry... just about you and bubs having increased chance of diabetes in later life, bubs being obese in later life, greater chance of CS delivery, shoulder injuries in baby, I'm just a panicker me!

Good luck with the test next Thurs lovely and thanks for the reassurance!

Sezzy, I had gestational diabetes when pg with Ben due to me having pcos. Mayb cos everything was ok I didn't really see it as a big deal. I have a glucose tolerance test in just over 2 weeks as I' likely to get it again.

Basically I just had to change my diet which was great cos it was really healthy. Just unlimited fruit and veg, no articicial sugars, white carbs. I did a blood test 3 times a day to make sure my sugar levels were ok - which they aways were, and that was it really. I had extra scans anyway cos of Ben's exomphalos but you get an extra growth scan and they just measure bubs size. I think they oftern induce at about 38 weeks but I had a planned induction booked anyway with Ben's condition. Anyway either I have small babies or I controlled it well as for the last 10 weeks I was measuring 2 weeks behind and Ben was born at 38+6 weighing 6lb 1oz so a right tiddler really!!! nothing was ever mentioned to me about Ben developing diabetes either and as soon as I gave birth the diabetes went. I'm not worried if I have it again, at least I know I'll be eating healthy!

Nearly forgot, I never once had sugar show up in my wee. It was only picked up after the lucozade challenge test at 28 weeks and then confirmed by the GTT.

Thanks Kate. I know I'm panicking about nothing. Calmed down now you've said it's nothing to worry about! My diet's been really good anyway, must've been those years of dieting Roll Eyes But I will make sure it's exemplary now.

In other news, I finally finished my essay on the nature of economic change in Wales over the last 40 years.... ((((( deeep breath ))))) WWWOOOOOOOHHHOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!! Big Grin

Have good nights all

Hello - Were is everyone recently?

Went for appointment with midwife today - was slightly annoyed though as i was having my anti-d injection, and was supposed to be having glucose tol test(which was cancelled until next week which i knew), however, i was told at my last midwifes appointment that i would have my usual anti-natal appoitment today. But when i got there the mw said 'oh no, no anti-natal today, just your anti-d injection' and that the last midwife should have booked me in to see her at my clinic for this week! So the mw was really awful and said she will do my checkup because she has a duty of care for me but only this once otherwise it will be 4 weeks until my next (which would mean i wouldnt of been checked for 8 weeks) - Like it was my fault! She also told me i should have had my bloods taken last time to check for anti-bodies, which they didnt do either, so had to have them done today! aswell as the injection!

Anyway, she did my anti-natal, blood pressure was up abit but she said not alot so not really to worry (but i will anyway)! ha!

Anyway, ive been reading my notes and have just noticed that my fundal height measureed 30cms! Does this mean a big baby as im only 28 weeks, so therefore should only be 28cms? Angel - i dont get how your soo much bigger than me yet measure less weeks, can anyone explain please?! Im really nervous that ive got a huge crumper baby now!

Thanks

Hope all is OK with everyone

Lots of love xxx

Hi all and bumps,

Lovely sunny weather here although very cold still, just been down the beach with the dog and warn out now.

Seem's we all have alot to worry about at present so sending hugs to everyone xxxx (((())))
Sezzy I know easier said than done but try not to worry too much, I think if i'm correct you can have sugur come and go but not develop GD, just because it was freakishly there this week doesn't mean it will be next time they check. Its good they are going to re check and keep a close eye on you though. oh and DON'T GOOGLE!!!!!! I know its hard as i'm the first to do it too but it will only worry you hun. I was convinced I had bowel cancer last year, made myself so ill with worry from what I had read...turned out just to be polyps which I had treated Roll Eyes eye watering stuff I can tell ya LOL

Kirsten, you seem to be recieving the same underhand MW care as me. I just think thats is terrible what happend to you today, no wonder you was annoyed especially when it is your first baby. I wish we could have afforded to hire an independent midwife. I saw my midwife at the beginning of Feb, just after my 21week scn and i'm not due to see her again till 7th May Eeker I feel very uncared for (small violin playing in the background) know its not my first but things can still change can't they?? I have also got to have anti D, my first injection is next week. I have to hvae mine done at the hospital in the path lab for some reason. I'm afraid can't comment on the fundal height as mine has never been measured!!!!! I think it is supposed to meansure the same in cm as weeks you are but again I wouldn't worry to much, I don't know about anyone else but some days my bump is bigger than others, probably to do with fluid. My friend was massive when she was pregnant, we all thought and the mw that it was going to be a 10lb baby, towards the end she was so big she could barely walk but baby was only 6lb 8 at birth but she had lot of fluid.
LOL i'm glad someone else is feeling "Flabby" I will def have to upload pic's so we can compare Big Grin I see all these pregnant ladies around town with perfect bumps and I just feel a right flump but I was big before I was pregnant so I shouldn't really moan its my own doing Roll Eyes ( she says having just eaten a massive slab of ginger cake ) Its exciting having the pram isn't it, ours is at my inlaws as i'm superstitious (sp?) but I bought the carseat back here.....just keep playing with it

Kate.....hope you are feeling better today and the reflux isn't causing you to much pain (()) poor you. Ben was so ickle wasn't he, wonder the weight of this baby your carrying. both mine were over 8lb, my son was 8lb 12 and came out looking 2months old LOL

waves to everyone else, going to go and have a nose on the internet, need a tent I can fashion into a dress for a posh wedding in June Red Face

Hugs for now Pobs xxxx

Afternoon ladies..

Pobs...How are you today? I would of been hysterical if i had seen spotting, i had a dream last week that i wiped ans there was a tiny bit.. then woke up needing loo straight after and my heart was pounding i was too scared to go, it was so real.. hope its just a one off for you.
I know what you mean about NOT GOOGLING!!! I convinced myself i had cancer the week sfter i got my mirena out as my lymph nodes swelled up so much i couldn't put my arms down, the only thing i could find related to lymph nodes was breast cancer sites... Dr said not to worry but they would check them out if it happened again, funnily enough they came up again yesterday, not as bad but i still worry..

Kirsten... Its awful when you are treated like that.. my mw has always been fantastic with me, and she knows if she doesn't check me over properly everytime i will only be phoning and hassling her!!! so she knows its best to just do it there and then lol!!
As regards the fundal height dont worry, it doesnt have to be spot on, a couple of weeks either side is ok i think, there is such a big difference with mine because when i was measured he was lying across my wonb so they only got his width rather than his height IYKWIM?? I'm not worrying too much coz i know he is the 'right' size only because ive had other babies.. he is moving ok and dont see how he could be 6 weeks too small!! Also i have a very long body so by the time i am 26 weeks or so i still have a fair space between top of bump and boobs! someone said this morning i was carrying low, i'm not really, its just the illusion my body gives!

how is everyone else?

I went to look at a pram shop in Holyhead this morning..not much there really, there was a nice silver cross but it was beige and brown and was a proper pram as apposed to a travel system, which i'd never get in boot of car.. the lady did give me some useful info though about M&P saying that in the 18 years she's had her shop she has never dealt with M&P and its not a company she wishes to ever deal with in the future, she said years ago the prams were so bad they used to fall apart and their customer service/ after sales is really bad. so i think my pilko prammette is going to be staying where it is..boo-hoo..
she gave me a mutsy brochure and steered me towards silver cross but i will have to have a good think.. Ive never had this problem before!!

well, itsthat time again so i am off to school now to pick theother 2 monsters up..

back soon,
Emma.x

Almost forgot you sezzy!!

Dont worry aboyt the sugar..
I had it at my last appointment, she said if it shows again i have to go for the glucose test but i had it with holly and it came bk ok,, so as pobs says it doesn't neccessarily mean you will develop GD, even if you do it just means you MAY have a bigger baby and possible section.. but then there are people like my sil that dont have GD and are still looking at a mahoosive baby and a definate section and she dont even have sugar!!
Then there is a friend of mine who has insulin diabetes and was told horror stories and that she would have to deliver early by section and her baby would be massive...but, she went to term, and through labour, ok, she had an emergency section but thats because baby was in distress, he was well and truly tangled in his cord, but he only weight about 7 lb, so dont believe everything you GOOGLE!!!!

Kate.. hope you feeling better with the reflux.

so sorry i am so crap with personals at the moment, i dont think i'll get my brain bk for about 6 months yet!!!!

Emma. x

Now i am late so gotta dash!

i'm doing ok thanks Angel, no more spotting today or cramps....just one of those strange things, werid especially after me and Amy talking about it. It wasn't much and like I said midwife wasn't concerned at all. No wonder you was worried about your lymph nodes. Do you think it could be because you are feeling so tired...run down perhaps hun???? Its hard work being pregnant and looking after other children isn't it??? Try and rest...ark at me I know easer said than done when there is school runs, uniform to be washed/ironed/ dinner to be cooked..the list is endless Roll Eyes How are you feeling today???? Hows your pelvis/back pain???

I know what you mean about the pram dilema. Have to say though my friend has the silver cross 2 in 1 in pistashio which is really nice. I wanted a one bar rather than two handles so thats why I didn't go for it. The handles extend really well as I know your tall like me so they need to be. They have lots of them brand new on ebay, might me worth a look!!!

Right off round to a friends to cook dinner now, they were coming here but their little one is abit unsettled.

Have a good day xxx

Hi girls.
Well i have most definitely had a belly spurt the last few days.
I had the first person notice i was pregnant yesterday before i had to say anything! Smiler
Worked a long day today 9-7 so i am knackered now but i have the weekend off to enjoy now.
Dh got the rugby tomorrow but i'm going to pick him up after and we are off to Toys'r'us to have a spend. Big Grin

Kirsten- My bump isn't very big either and i worry sometimes about where the hell the baby can be but i think it is more because it is my first baby.
It is your first too isn't it so we are bound to be a bit smaller. Roll Eyes

Angel- Sounds like you had a good physio session so hopefully she will sort out some of the discomfort for you.
Just checked out msn and your bump. You have most definitely grown again since the last piccie! Big Grin

Kate- Your scan is only a couple of days after mine. What a lovely surprise for your dh too. Smiler

Pobs- Poor you. I so feel for you. Even though both of us have had heavy blood loss in the beginning i know if i get any more i am still going to panic. Eeker
But considering how the start of our pregnancies went i think we have the right.
I am so hoping i don't get any more bleeding as i haven't had any for ages now. (touch wood)
The only thing i can say is you had very heavy bleeds at very early on when the baby was tiny so she is so much bigger now.
My boss that is due next week has had shows all the way through it is just one of those things unfortunately.
But i know if it was me i would be stressing out too.
But if she is kicking she must be fine so try to relax. Smiler
I don't think that my midwife would be concerned if i rang and said i was bleeding but i know that she would do anything to get me in to hear the heartbeat.
Your midwife could have squeezed you in just to put your mind at rest. Mad
And no i didn't get a bloody thing the other day.
I am too big for my own stuff and too small for maternity so i am still wearing a size bigger than normal.
I refuse to buy anymore if it won't fit soon.
My boobs seem to be the only thing needing new clothes for.
I have to buy a bigger size again as my bras leave marks on my jugs by the end of the day and this size is an 34FF! Eeker

Sezzy- Sorry hun i don't know about the sugar thing i'm afraid but it looks like they are keeping an eye on it for you.
Glad i can be of assistance in getting your leg over your hubby! Roll Eyes
It seems to be the only thing that works for me to be honest it must be that it's elevated.
If i have to be uncomfortable he can too!

I have been getting ALOT of low kicks today. The little rascal must think it's hilarious to keep giving me fufu kicks. Wink
I am not so amused! It feels like he is going to come out.
I nearly got on all fours at work to try and move him away from my bits but i thought i might shock the poor person that came in the staff room!

Hope everyone is ok that i didn't mention.
Off for a warm milk and maybe an early night.
Love Amy. xxxxxxxxxxx

Me- 28
