Help!

I am 11 weeks today, and have had problems fitting into some of my jeans and trousers. DH suggested this morning ( in that nice way that men do!!) that maybe I should start thinking about getting some maternity clothes, I laughed this off and told him it was far too early.

At what point did you all start buying maternity clothes? I feel like a bit of a fraud buying maternity things when I dont have a proper bump, I just feel a bit tubby! Also my first scan is not until the 7th december and i dont want to tempt fate by buying things too early.

J - I was the same at 8 weeks maybe less and I have always been very slim.

I started wearing bigger size clothes that I had in my wardrobe for a while but now I'm in to Maternity clothes from Dorothy Perkins, which is really well prized and you get a good choice.

Lorraine - I didn't know you could get early term maternity clothes.

thanks Lorraine,

I am at that awkward stage when I dont look pregnant but there's definately more around the tummy than there used to be!!!

Going to wait till after the scan and then do a bit of shopping, I will consider it an early christmas present to myself!!

the sales start soon so might get some bargains in the sales maternity clothes etc. Also try Mothercare, H&M, Pumkin Patch as they too have nice stuff.

I am 22 weeks 6 days now, due 25th March 06.

Hi I'm now 30+2 and I felt exactly the same as you at your stage. At 12 weeks it was obvious I was pg and people were noticing. I purchased a couple of maternity trousers from Next that looked like normal trousers but with a big fold down stretchy waist band (I still wear them) and started to wear them as most other things were uncomfortable. I managed to wear some of my clothes with my zip band open and long tops to cover the zip. I was slim too. The trouble with most maternity trousers is that they seem to be designed for 6 months plus ladies, so if you're small you'll swim in them.

I hated bigger sizes as they really did make me look shapeless as they were too big on the bum and legs.

I remember going into Mother Care and trying on trousers and feeling like a fraud to, so don't worry you're not the only one. Sooner than you think you'll be big and not fitting into maternity clothes anymore!

I remember wanting so much to be bigger so people noticed I was pg and wasn't just a bit cubby around the waist!

Try e-bay as I got a great pair of Next jeans from there, they were a little big to begin with buy they are brilliant now, I think a pair of jeans are a must have.

Good luck and have a healthy happy pregnancy.
