Hi All!
I have a 4 month old baby, and thought I would just leave a post with some advice/learnings that me and my other new mum friends have had!
1- You will be absolutely inundated with Pink/Blue items depending on what sex your baby is! On one item it is fine, but when you have an entire wardrobe of either Pink or Blue clothes, believe me you will get really bored of it. If you are getting a gift for someone else, think of getting Yellow/Grey to give the mum a little break from the sea of Pink/Blue!
2- You will also be really inundated with little outfits [dresses/dungarees etc]...which are lovely, but you end up with more outfits than your little one can ever wear..and believe me for the first few weeks you won't feel like getting them togged up in little outfits every day. If you are getting a gift for someone, then try and get a bigger size [3month + etc] or some of the more 'non-exciting' clothing essentials [eg Body Suits and Sleepsuits/Grobags etc] ..which you need, but no one thinks to buy you!
3- If you are buying for someone else, then some really useful items would be: CD's to play to baby, Baby Massage kits, Baby Toiletries, Something to commemorate the birth [check out
http://www.natures-harvest.org.uk], Books etc. Me and my friends ended up with loads of Bouquets [I had 8 at one point in my front room]/Clothing and some of these are some ideas of things that we would have liked to have had.
Lots of Love
