Im currently 18 weeks pregnant, however, im a major worrier so thinking about renting a doppler.
Just wondering if anyone has used one before and would you reccomend? And would i be able to hear the heartbeat now, as the mw struggled to find it last week.
Are there any risks to my baby if i was to get one?
Thanks alot Kirsten xx

just wanted to say that i had a fetal heart monitor when i was pg with my ds (now 4) and it was so reassuring to hear the heartbeat. The one i had came with 2 sets of headphones, one for mum and one for dad or gran or whatever. I loved mine and would definitely recommend it to anyone you could hear baby's hiccups and everything!
I can't remember what make it was but i got it from mothercare and if i remember rightly it was about £30.
Hope this helps, and btw when i was pg with my first baby the midwife had a job hearing her heartbeat cos she was always facing the wrong way so i wouldn't worry too much about it. If there was the slightest concern about it they'd have you up the hosp for a scan.
Good luck with your pregnancy Lisajane xxx

Hi Kirsten.. We had a thread on dopplers a few weeks ago but if you go to page 16 on our Due July/August thread i have a post in there all about the difference between dopplers and amplifiers... there are 2 links there aswell so you can see which is which, hope this helps, Emma. x
Hi Kirsten,.. I haven't actually got mine yet, had other things ive had to pay off 1st, and i seem to be quite happy with beanies progress this time! I worried myself sick with the others, but this one seems to be flying by and i dont have time to worry like i did!!! So not sure i am actually going to buy one yet, i need to sort my Maternity clothes out 1st the stuff i am squeezing into at the moment is a joke!! Let us know how you get on with the doppler when it arrives!
Hi all - My doppler came this morning - just had a go and can hear babies heart beat straight away! Its fantastic, just what i needed to put my mind at rest. I will probably use everyone 3-4 days until baby starts to kick!
I would definatley recomend to anyone!
Thanks for all your advice,
Kirsten xx
