this may be a daft post but people are scaring me at mo.

im a mum of 5 gorgeous children and i am now ttc with my new partner.
in june 2006 i had an ovary removed and have been worried about conceiving after it.
saw my doctor the other day and he says tests i had before op showed i was ovulating from both ovaries and as the one i have will take over some of the work i have a higher chance of releasing 2 eggs and higher chance of twins.
my mum was a twin and my dp has twins in his family and i had a tarot reading the other night that said i will have a baby soon but could be twins.
needless to say im a bit freaked out by it all and to make matters worse my mate "chart expert" has been monitoring my chart as well as talking to me and is taking pleasure in saying she thinks the temp drop and pain i had yesterday was implantation and it was worse than normal cos its twins!
sorry this is long but i guess what im wondering is.. is there anything that i could look out for in early stages that would give me any idea and if you have conceived twins, did you notice any difference between implantation of single or twin pregnancy?
im pretty sure this isnt my month but i need to have my mind put at ease.
many thanks
xx sarah xx

Hi Orkers

I am a mum of twins and am pregnant with a singleton now. I was charting when TTC with the twins and I had a positive preg test on day 9 dpo. This pregnancy was a result of IVF so it was all monitored! I don't honestly think you can tell very early on because your body can implant the egg early or later depending on a lot of factors. Its only later in the pregnancy that you might get hints that you could be carrying twins. It would be so nice if we could tell early on but the best judge is having an early ultrasound. My friend concieved twins and had absolutely no symtoms. No morning sickness, no nothing, it was amazing! Hope you get your dream come true soon X

Orkers I meant to say that non id twins run on the mothers side not the mans side and the more pregnancies you have had the more likely you will release 2 eggs and have twins!! id twins are a freak of nature with no hereditary factors. Also the older a woman is, the more likely she will concieve twins particularly from age 34 to 39 apparently as she is more likely to release 2 eggs from the one ovary.

thanks mantha.
im not sure if its a dream or a nightmare actually. my dp thinks its a dream and when he saw chart this the other day decided he was taking no chances of missing a second egg (daft bugger thinks chart showing another ovulation dip!)
my mum was non id twin (boy girl) and looking back her aunty was also a non id twin!
guess il have to sit and wait for a bfp and then worry about it til confirms one! lol
thanks for your help and hope your pregnancy is going well Smiler

I have been wondering this also. I have only one ovary and am now 7 weeks pregnant. I'm not worried it might be twins, but then I thought the chances would be less having only one ovary. All my others I have been worried about twins (used clomid and had 2 ovaries) but this time it hadn't really entered my mind since this was a natural conception and I only have one ovary.
I honestly thought that having one ovary would lessen the chances....Oh well i have a scan in 3 weeks and will let you know Razzer
i actually have morning sickness this time around which is a first for me, that is the only reason i wonder even slightly!

i have non id twin boys and also a singleton you can not really tell if you are having twins early on i had twice as many symptons with my singleton than i did with the twins the only option is is an early scan or just wait and see but theres no need to worry if you are having twins my pregnancy was as smooth as anything the only problem was they were breach from bout 20 wks but otherwise dont worry
