We decided in Sept 07 that we would start TTC around Xmas time, we were going away so thought it was a good a time as any! Anyway, had my Mirena removed on Xmas Eve, and just as I was leaving the surgery the doc said – oh don’t get pregnant on the anti-malaria tablets (we went to Goa)! If I’d have known that I would have waited to get my coil removed!
Anyway – we avoided any wrigglers heading my way until I’d finished the tablets and got advice as to when they would be out of my system and started trying from then.
Its now a month since it was removed and I still haven’t seen AF, not only that I have no clue if I’m ovulating or not, or even if I have been through the Mirena. I bought a OPK and they’ve all tested negative. I was expecting AF soon as I’ve have back ache, lower abdominal pain and sore bbs but nothing.
I stumbled on this site and was quite shocked to see the amount of people still TTC after Mierna.
I feel completely down about the whole situation Confused

hi Liseyloo

sorry can't advise you on the mirena cos i've never had one, but on the ttc board there's quite a few of the girls who are ttc after mirena.

as for the opk, how long did you test for? if you're not sure when you're meant to ov they recommend starting on cd8 and then just carrying on til you get a positive. the down side of this is that its very expensive. try not to feel too down about it - your body needs to re-adjust after the mirena. i was on the ordinary coil b4 i conceived my ds and it took me 3 months cos my cycles went a bit wierd so don't worry, you just need to be patient.

good luck

Hiya

I had my mirena coil removed on the 27th of Dec and took my period on the 29th of Dec and it was my first one for 3 years, a bit of shock to the system, lol, but glad to see it. I used the ovulation tests until I got a positive result which was on 17.01.08, I have been ttc and we are hopeful that we will be lucky my period is due on 29th of Jan, Im very crampy today and hoping that it is not my period working on me!!!

Stay positive, its the only way!!! Smiler
