My period be due.

My last one was 4 days long and was from 20th Dec - 24th Dec.

I am never sure how to work it out, I know a 28 day cycle is about right but I am not sure if a cycle is from .. last day of period to first of next, or first day from one period to the first day of the next

Thanks :O)

Hi Pippy pipster Smiler
a cycle goes from the first day of the the period to the first day of the next period, just count the amount of days in between

Thanks Heidi.

So. If I get this correctly..

Last period started on the 20th December + 28 days is 17th January. So if I have a 28 day cycle my period was due on the 17th Jan.

Hi
yes if you have 28 day cycles then it would have been due on the 17th jan, however sometimes cycles can be much longer (or shorter) or can be delayed for reasons such as stress!!!! Are you ttc at the the moment? (hope you don't mind me asking)

Thanks Heidi. No not trying, other than to loose weight! Wink

How much longer a cycle do people have you think? this would mean my cycle was 5 days (minimum)longer than the standard 28 days. And I have absolutely no signs that my period is coming soon!

I am thinking I should be fine as there was only a couple of "occasions" and both were within 5 days of the end of my last period, so to the best of my knowledge its not very fertile time?

Me again Big Grin

I think everybody differs from 25 days to 50 days to missing out months altogether!!!!! (sorry not much help)to be honest if your worried then i would do a test to be sure as there is always a risk when having sex unprotected, but there are also thousands of reasons as to why it could be late as well.

Good luck

Thanks for your responses, much appreciated.

I did a clearblue digital test last night and it came back negative Big Grin

I would imagine I am missing a period as I have been doing the CD for nearly 3 weeks.

Put my mind at rest anyway.

Thanks
Lisa

If you've been following the cambridge diet that will be why your cycle is messed up. When I did cd I didn't have a period for a few months Eeker That terrified me, surely a diet that causes your natural body functions to stop is scary?

Anyway, good luck Smiler

kate i totally agree with you after having my dd i tried the cambridge diet and missed 2 periods not thinking it could be linked to the diet i went to the docs and she told me that it was my bodies way of preservein any bit of nutrient and goodness it can becaiuse the diet was putting my body into starvation mode, i stopped straight away and my periods returned, what ever happened to god old weightwatchers i lost 3 sone on that and it has stayed off.

Rachel-Jade - wow on the 3 stone weight loss!!! Keeping it off is the hard part isn't it. Well done!

Heidi - Cambridge is a meal replacement diet. You have 3 packet shakes/soups each day and 4 pints of water (or something like that) No food or fizzy diet pop, no salt, it's torture. Yourbody goes into ketosis which is fat burning mode, but a side result is the stinkiest breath you can imagine, dizzy spells, no periods (not for all women). It's mad because some doctors recommend it, but most people I know have been warned off by their doc. Scary stuff.
