hi I didnt know if anyone had started a thread for the nov babies...thought maybe I would if anyone wants to join,
thought I read something...someone was worried about baby sleeping through the night....it is completly normal if they dont for a long time...this is my third, but I did find a trick with my new one. We give her a bottle of formula and a bath and she sleeps all night.Formula takes longer for there bodies to digest so they stay fuller longer...it has done me wonders to get extra sleep
hope you all will join this thread...best wishes and happy posting

Hello there

I think all the new Mums hang out on the Parenting boards rather than here on pregnancy ones.

You might want to post there instead.

It's interesting about formula feeds though, I've already been chatting with new Mums in Parenting on just this subject.

Best wishes

Rachel

Hiya girls!!!
How is everyone doing?? Fine I hope. And how are all those lovely babies doing??
Elise is doing well, she cried for the first 6 weeks of her being here, but at last, she seems to be settling!! I tried everything....Infacol, gripe water, dentinox...I thought that putting her on the bottle would sort her out, but hell no, she still cried!!! I was switching milks every 5 minutes, changing teats and bottles!!! In the end I decided the only thing left to try was putting her on soya milk, in case it was a lactose intolerance! This seemed to work straight away. She was much more settled and she even sleeps right through the night now, from about 10.30/11.00 til about 7am!! It's heaven!! [Smiler]
She is 7 1/2 weeks now, bless her, and like your baby sten, seems tiny still! She weighed 9lb 6oz when I got her weighed on Tuesday!! The bloomin' health visitor has already put her two penneth worth in about the soya milk though!! She said that they now have new research that says that soya is no good for babies!! I mean, what am I supposed to do?? I felt like saying to her, "You put her back on normal milk and have her for a week...see how you cope"!! As far as I'm concerned, there have been many babies that have had soya, and they are fine, and why would they sell it if it was that bad?? Some people even use soya for their baby's through personal choice, like vegans, so it can't be that bad!!
Phew.....glad I got that off my chest!! [Big Grin] (Sorry about all the ranting!!)
Has anyone else had problems with their little ones, and conflicting advice from health visitors/midwives etc..?
I hope a few more of the Nov,Dec,Jan girls join us on here, it will be nice to chat!!
Take care all,
Claire....and little Elise. xx

morning all

ellie is still not sleeping through the night but she does seem to sleep alittle longer on the odd night here and there. last night she decided to wake up at 1.30am and back herself up in the cot where her teddies are and start talking for half an hour and then whinged cos a teddy fell over so i had to go and see her

she is quite good at settling herself after a feed or when she is tired i can put her in her cot and she dozes off herself

got her weighed last week and she was 9lb 14 so shes put on about 4lb in 9weeks

hope you are all well and shall speak to you all soon

lots of love paula x x x

Hi all glad to see everyone is doing well...
my little one sleeps through the night also...I breastfeed her all the way up till bed time...and then I give her a bottle of formula before bed, this keep sher asleep all night.
My DH got a new job and he is gone 5 days a week until training him is over..I hope it doesnt last too much longer...being alone all week with 3 kids is enough to drive me crazy.
I miss him dearly when hes gone.
any way take care everyone
glad to hear you checking in

Hi Clairemarie

Sorry just having a nose on this thread and noticed your one about soya milk.
It sounds rubbish to me.......I had same problem with my son having runny tummy and being sick alot so I chose soya milk ( SMA )which I happen to drink anyway and my sisters kids were intolerant to milk so they both had soya too.
He was instantly calm and began enjoying his milk.......soya milk is great and the baby tins like SMA add vitamins and all ofthat like normal formula aswell.
As soon as he got a bit older and his tummy was less sensitive I reverted him back to normal milk no probs.
I got a telling off from my Health Visitor but a pat on the back from my doctor for using my initiative.....he said the proof was in the pudding and that if my son was happy then thats great.

So you carry on with it.....it can't possibly do them any harm.....as long as they are drinking the proper baby soya milk then that fine xxxx

Sorry just had to add my pennys worth!!!

I' from the septmeber thread so best get back!!

evening

last night i decided to start ellie on formular milk not so that she may sleep longer at night but so she can get use to it as i am not to confident on breastfeeding in public so i thought that atleast if shes use to it when out and about she be ok with the bottle

my husband didn't agree and thought that i should carry on bfeeding but i explained that i am but just to give her one bottle at night or one a day.

tonight he gave her a bottle while i watched and i couldn't explain the feeling but i felt really awful that i was feeding her myself, when i can't feed her cos i am ill i don't have that empty feeling as i know it can't be helped but to think she was having a bottle when i could be breastfeeding felt sort of wrong

sorry to waffle on, in the end i gave her abit of breastfeeding i think it was the bonding that i missed

anyway going to sleep now unless she wakes up

speak to you all soon, take care x xpaula

Paula its ok to feel that way...I did too, but to knwo theres that option out there for feeidng her made me feel less confined and tied down and her daddy really loves to feed her now...and it gives me a break I still breasrfeed during the day and give her a bottle at night..
do whats best for your baby and you feel better about it
