Im 17 weeks pregnant and have my next scan in a couple of weeks - i cant decide whether to find out what im having or not!
I was soo determined not to find out, but now im getting really impaitent and wanna know!!
This is my first baby, so was just wondering if anyone has any advice on what i should do - has anyone found out with their first or is it better to wait and see?
Thanks very much

Im expecting baby no.3 and we are going to keep this one a surprise. We didnt find out with our first and im so glad we didnt. It is going to be a big temptation for you both but if you can I would wait until the big day, easier said than done I know!! Everyone told us not to find out what baby no.2 was but on the day I couldnt resist! It didnt spoil the birth in anyway but I kinda wish we'd have waited. Now we have one of each it doesnt matter if its a girl or boy so like I say I will TRY not to give into temptation this time round
Just remember ultimatly it is your choice so go with how you feel on the day. I hope you enjoy the rest of your pregnancy
my first was a surprise and we were 100% adamant on that from the beginning. I'm soo glad i waited as it was so special to wait until he was actually born to find out it was a boy.
Second time around.. it hasn't been as easy to refrain, although we didn't find out the sex at the scan i'm absolutely dying to find out now and can't wait until my bundle arrives. It's been extra difficult this time as we actually have a slight preference (a girl) and i know several other pregnant woman all of who have found out the sex and all of who are having girls!
As with any decision there are pros and cons. some woman want to find out as they find it easier to bond with their bump and they can go out and buy lots of pink/blue things, pick a name.
If you don't find out at your 20 week scan and change your mind later you could always have a 4d scan (as i've been very tempted to do several times but haven't given in!)
Kirsten oooo it's such a difficult decision isn't it? I'm in the same dilemma about baby no. 2 as my scan is in a few weeks too.
We didn't find out with our first and all I can say is that my DH telling me that we had a little girl is just such a fantastic memory that I'll treasure forever. I was 100% adamant that I wanted DH to tell me and not the midwife - in the end it was the only bit of my birthplan that went to plan!!!! And the surprise was just brill, as I was convinced I was having a boy!!
Remember that not all hospitals will tell you anyway.
And i know people who did find out first time round and just loved the surprise of finding out what baby looked like!!!
