My Daughter is having her third baby and went to the Midwife on Wednesday for a routine test and she said she was 1-3 cm dilated. went into hosp. a little later to be told - 2-3 & 3-4 - then was told 1cm...!!!!
She has been having contractions for 5 days now which are between 2.5 & 5 minutes apart with no let up at all... the are strong, going up to 100 - between 50-80 normally but not staying strong sufficient enough to open the cirvix.
Surely this is not right????
She is so tired she is totally worn out, they have kept her in as they said she may have an infection!
I was induced each time with mine, the third included. I am not sure if they suspect infection if they would induce or not, i would think it it will depend how far along she is with the pregnancy. It sounds like she could do with a rest first anyway. It wont hurt to ask the unit she is in to put yours and her mind at rest, any concerns you have they should be able to explain. sorry i am not much help!
