Hi, I've just started this topic because I'm starting 6 cycles of clomid soon as I have PCOS, rarely ovulate and have been ttc a year.

Just wanted to create a thread for ladies going through the same as me, as I'm new to all of this.

Kate

Hey kate - count me in hun

I was diagnosed with PCOS last november and have been taking metformin - started off on 1000mg per day and then up to 1850mg I then went on a 2 month break from ttc and stopped the metformin and my cycles were regular using the metformin and then during the 2 month break they were not!

I really believe metformin helped my cycles and I am going to start taking them again on day one of my next cycle (currently DPO 6).

Lauren [Big Grin]

I'm starting 50mg on cd2-6 and will be monitored with cd21 blood tests. If 50mg doesn't work them I'm to increase the dose myself to 100mg, and then 150mg if that doesn't work. At the moment I've got 6 months worth of 50mg but will need another prescription if I need to increase the dose. I'm to have a review if not pg in 6 months.

Are you on 50mg? Some tips I read is 1) to take linseed (aka flaxseed) oil to help improve the quality of your eggs, I got some capsules from holland & Barrett. 2) take the clomid before bed rather than in the morning as it will lessen the symptoms cos you'll sleep through them.

He originally gave me 50mg, but when I went back to tell him the Provera hadn't worked and to get the results of the scan, he changed his mind and wants me to take 100mg from days 2-6, or 7 days after finishing the Provera if nothing happens (which will be Thursday). I've got 3 months worth, and have got to go and see him 3 weeks after starting the Clomid. He didn't mention anything about blood tests etc., so how will he know if I've ovulated or not? I'm worried in case he's not very good!

Thanks about that, will make DP pop in and get me some[Big Grin] What dose did you get? Spooky, I was thinking of starting them on Thursday evening anyway (just in case I get AF). What are the symptoms?

Well the main things are possibly some nausea, bloating, hot flushes, insomnia, dizzyness, headaches etc. But you don't always have symptoms at all. There's a list of them on the instructions leaflet. You'll know what I mean when you read it but its shocking!!! I'm still taking them though.

If you're going back to the doc while taking them then you'll probably be scanned to check how its going. Remember Sweetcheeks, well she's being monitored by scans. Personally at the moment I'm happy to be monitired with blood tests cos its at the GP and FREE!!!! I've spent enough money on Bupa just having all the tests and diagnosis.

You'll think I'm terrible, but I read the instructions when I got the first lot, then threw it away, so have forgotten what the symptoms are. I more often than not, don't read the instructions because if I don't know what the symptoms are, am less likely to have them (if that makes sense!)[Big Grin]

I agree with you - I'm still taking them regardless!

I read an update from Sweetcheeks on MSN, but didn't really know what was going on, and my computers too slow for me to try and go back and find out.

I'm lucky coz so far, I've been covered on Bupa through work.

Lauren you are better off not knowing. I read them to DH and said I'm in my right mind, and I'm still taking them!

If you get curious search on netdoctor for clomid side effects - not for the faint hearted, but I suppose the pill has loads of symptoms too, not that I ever read the instructions!!!

I'll have a look later or tomorrow!

I can't see anything can be worse than the pill, and the way its mucked us up. Anyway, if we took notice of every side effect of anything we've ever taken and didn't eat anything that can cause this that and the other, we wouldn't get out of bed and wouldn't eat anything!!!

At the end of the day we want a baby and will do anything to try and make our dream come true, so I couldn't care less if I do get some side effects - I just want them to work so bad

You and me both Lauren.

As you have probs with MSN at the mo, I'll keep checking here for updates. Especially as you're starting the clomid this week. I'll be interested to see how you get on with it.

Kate, can I pick your clever brain?

Sorry if TMI, but Sunday evening I had a small amount of brown spotting, and a bit more overnight. Yesterday nothing, and this morning there was a bit of red spotting when I went to the loo first thing, but since then nothing.

Do you think AF might appear in a few days, that's all I'm going to get? When would you start the clomid? Thursday evening as planned (that's 7 days after finishing the Provera)?

Cheers hon, just think I need to listen to what someone else would do.

Speak later,

Lauren x

Hello, my names Hannah and I too am taking Clomid!

I came off the pill in June 04 and since have had completely erratic periods. Firstly none and then from November onwards I had continuous bleeding until feb this year (nice!). Dr wasnt doing much so I paid to see a consultant. 3 weeks ago he put me on Clomid with the aim of regulating my AF and help me OV. Well, my period stopped but then started again after only 10 days and I am positive I didnt OV. Do you think he will up my dose now? seeing him again next week so fingers crossed he will have some good news from my blood test. What will they be looking for in my blood (is that a really stupid question?!)?

You made me laugh about the side effects! Flaking skin?!? Peeling?!? But you are so right about the pill. Why oh why arent young women warned of the dangers and that it can cover problems up? I would never have gone on it in the first place.

Hope you dont mind me joining in!

Take care xxx

Hi Pricey!
I don't mind you joining us at all, its exactly why I created this topic. Especially as I'm new to all this - the clomid, not ttc unfortunately.

In answer to your question do you mean you had AF, took the clomid then bled 10 days later? how long was the bleed. If it was spotting some women spot during ovulation, and dare I say implantation. Anyway if you are having blood tests like me then they will be to check your progesterone levels. Theres a bit of confusion about what the level should be. My gynae said anything in double figures will show you ovulated, but some other doc's say 25 or over.

Anyway if it didn't work then yes they will probably increase the dose. Did you start on 50mg?

I just re-read my post, how sad am I. I've not even started the clomid yet and look how much I know lol [Big Grin]

Lauren, If I were you I'd call the doc and explain whats happened if you are concerned. But you are due to start it on Thurs anyway? I'd say it wouldn't hurt to start it on Thurs even if that was a funny AF, cos some doc's say to start it on cd5 instead of cd2.
