Hi

Anyone got any experience with these? I have been peeing on the blooming things all month and they have never turned properly positive, but i had two or three days where the lines were nearly the same colour mid cycle.

Trying to figure out if i ovulated (am only a couple of cycles off the pill and they haven't settled down yet) and just wondered if anyone who charts or got pregnant has ovulated but had tests like these?

Thanks!
Tallgirl x

Hi
I had a similar problem and my daughter is now 4 months old! I charted for a bit but my temps never made sense so I moved on to the wee sticks. I never got a real positive on the cheapie opks though. I would recommend investing in some of the clear blue ones that give you a smiley face as a positive as they are more sensitive I think and also remove all doubt! They are pricey so you could use the cheapie ones til the 'hot point' in your cycle and when you get an iffy positive on a cheapie use the clear blue ones for a few days. Good luck!

Hello tallgirl,
When I found this site, yours were the first posts I read; you were about to get your first BFP - and here you are trying for #2! Felt compelled to reply when I saw your name!! Big Grin

Just wanted to say I agree with Munchy (hello love Smiler) and that approach. I never get full-on positives with cheapies, but I use them about 3-4 days before I assume I ovulate and then when they get to the darkest that they tend to get to, I switch to Clearblue digis. I think the cheapies do work - but probably better with some people than others. With me, I have to follow the instructions to the letter in terms of not drinking too much and not having a wee for at least 3hrs. Also, I find the most likely time of day to get a result is about 6pm. With Clearblues, you can use FMU - but I always do afternoon tests.

If you can handle checking your cervical position (cp), that's a really good indicator too. Takes a bit of practice, though EekerBig Grin.

The best way to be as sure as you can (and nothing is obv 100% accurate) is to chart, because no one fertile sign gives you the full picture. Fertile cm, cp and opks can help you work out if you're about to ovulate - and then temps can show you if and when you did. And if you're still trying after two or three months, you can look back at your charts and compare them, to try & pinpoint ovulation - or identify if there might be a problem.

Good luck - and I'm sure Sam's sibling will be on their way soon Smiler.

Love, dats xxx

i used clearble didgi's this month, and when it got the smileyface, i took the wee stick out for a nosey, the line was slightly lighter than the control line Confused, But i'm pg now, so it must have been right!!! i bd'd the night before i got that smiley face, as the next night I was super-crippled with ov pain.
So i recommend them!

Just echoeing the others here - but I found the cheapy OPKs as good as useless! Clearblue were the only ones that worked for me too - although the month I got pregnant god alone knows when I OV'd as it was bloody early whatever anyway as we had decided to give up trying by week 2 of my cycle and were back to our trusty withdrawel method!!! Hello

Thanks for all your responses! Good to know its not just me...I seem to remember not getting a proper positive the month I got pregnant with Sam but its all a bit muddled in my mind now. I do check CP and it hasn't really shifted from being softish and high so far this month..and on CD 23 now. Not sure if anything has happened this month but only another week to wait and find out!!! Been using clearblue so I guess they are pretty reliable but its probably my cycles being all funny after the pill this time.

Oh well...fingers crossed! Actually a bit scary thinking about doing it all over again....!!

Hi Tallgirl Smiler

I never got on with the clearblue, had the same problem, but I was charting when ttc both times so would bd just in case and then find out from temps if it was ov or not. I did however get on really well with the acon opk's off the internet. When you get a +ive its clearly darker than the control line. Anyway good luck x x

Hey chick!

Thanks for that....did you actually ov without the clearblue showing it, then? I found them really confusing! I have decided to buy a basal thermometer next month if we haven't got bfp, although its early days, cos the whole thing is quite stressful when you don't know what is happening. Still - only second month of trying and think we gave up bding to early last month!

xx

Exactly, it is stressful, and as I have pcos I was also getting false +ive opks or lots of 'nearly' positives. I didn't use the clearblue's this time but if I think back to ttc Ben a +ive clearblue for me would be two lines approx the same but definitely not a darker test line. A lot of people would advise against taking temps but for me personally it made all the difference, plus you'd know exactly when af was due. Got my thermometer from Boots x x
