Hi Everyone,

Just wondering are there any ladies on the boards who are TTC but considered overweight?

Has anyone lost weight and gone on to have a succesful pregnancy?

I am 34 years old and currently at least 6 stones overweight, I suffer with under active Thyroid and PCOS. I am trying to lose weight before TTC but it is proving difficult. I would like to chat with people who are in a similar position to myself.
I am currently charting with FF and although I have PCOS I do have regular visits from AF. Although I am not sure yet if I am actually ovulating.

I forgot to add, I have been PG twice before in 99 and 2000 but both ended in misscarriage, one at 6 weeks and one at 8 weeks. I think thats why I have left it so long to start trying again.

I am terrified if I do get PG that it will happen again.

hello,

i am classed as obese according to the doctor as im 5 ft 2 and was about 14 1/2 stone, i fell pregnant last year which unfortunately ended in misscarriage i then put on more weight but i am now 6 months pregnant and i weigh nearly 16 stone,my sister in law also has a underactive thyroid which doest help with conception but she has since fel pregnant twice whilst on her thyroxine. its hard work being bigger and they have put me as a hih risk pregnancy because of my weight although i havent got any of the problems assosiated with being overweight. also withyour pcos that isnt going to make it easy either but you will get there, iknow how much it hurts to lose a baby and i wish you all the luck in the world with tying to concieve im sure it will happen for you eventually

Hi SparkleKiss,
I was clinically obese (had about 8st to lose). Came off the pill last September. Started a diet in January and had lost 3st9lbs beofer I found out I was pregnant. Having said that, looking at dates, I actually fell 3 or so weeks into starting the diet so would only have lost about a stone and a half or 2 at that point.
So what I'm trying to say is that I wanted to lose weight to help conceive/have a healthy pregnancy/be a healthy mum etc but it happened so quickly into starting I couldn't really say that's why it happened.
BUT! One of the ladies in our group did say that losing weight can help with conception as a) it releases more oestrogen (SP?!) into your body so making you more fertile and b) releases pressure on your tubes so making the eggs journey less stressful.
I hope that helps in some way.

Thank you very much for your kind replies.

It's nice to know I am not alone, I did manage to find a message board specifically for this subject but its American based and they seem much further ahead than us here in the UK.

Well I am currently dieting and hopefully I just may have a chance of concieving one day.

Thanks again...

Hi TinyEm,

This might help to explain PCOS in more detail.
