Hi Sheree,
I was on the pill for 3 yrs and came off it mid nov.
Af and pg symptoms are usually similar especially after coming off the pill, your body is getting back to normal, so symptoms are not really reliable signs for pg.
Because you were on the pill, that was why af was pretty regular. After stopping the pill, your body will revert back to its normal cycle pattern before you started taking bcp, meaning if your periods were irregular and painful, they will go back like that. If your cycles were regular, they will be BUT it will take a long time for your body to adjust to this - it's possible that it could take 6-12 months for your cycles to regulate.
I was one of the regulars on the 'coming off the pill' and 'trying to concieve thread' few months back, and I know some women who hadn't gotten their 1st af for 3 months, some got their 1st af after 30 days, but 2nd one wouldn't for another 90 days.
My cycles after I stopped were 35 and 44 days (I fell pg in my 3rd cycle). You can imagine how many pg tests I took, I even saw my doc, she said there's nothing really to do but wait for af to come.
So to answer your question, you can't really know when af would come, it could be tomorrow, next week or next months. Sorry to sound mean but it's true. It's one of the disadvantages of coming off bcp.
Have you thought of trying agnus castus? It's highly recommended for women who wants to regulate their period especially after coming off the pill. I took the capsule form from holland and barrett. It's not a fast acting herb, results can be seen normally after 3 months and should not be taken long term. Also, you might want to start taking folic acid even though you're not pregnant yet. I started taking Pregnacare in Jan even though we weren't ttc then.
When I stopped the pill, I did a lot of reading and research on the net, there are LOADS of info and can help you understand what's going on with your body.
Hope this helps. And good luck!
