Hi all you lovely mums and bumps Smiler

Thank you for all your thoughtful messages, I'm fine and dandy, finding myself to be all abit emotional to say the least, As today was my almost last day, for what I thought would be 6mths, but in fact could be my last day as manager of my pub, ever. But like you lovely ladies have said it is more than likely a blessing in disguise Smiler, so only positive thoughts from me, and anyhoo I have much more important things to look forward to Smiler

Talking of which.....Blimey Lisa, that must have been a scare and a half! It makes sense with what you say about feeling out of control, it must have been all very nerve racking. Hope you are ok now, and you are able to relax a bit and try and put your feet up. Did the Drs say what brought it on, or is it just one of those things??

Sorry to hear about your anaemia Maria, lots of red meat and spinach for you young lady! Why does it affect the chances of having your home birth? sorry to sound stupid.

Well done Aly on your graduation, I hope you had a lovely night, well deserved Smiler Whats your opinions on nappies, reusable or disposable?? just wanting a mums view on it, as you know the practicalities. I saw them talking about it on another thread, and it got me thinking Smiler Hope your pelvis is ok, and not casuing you too much distress.

Hiya Nic, good to hear that you are ok, and work pressure has eased off a bit. Cant believe you lot and Christmas!! I havent even thought about buying anything yet!!!! I am so disorganised! At least now I have finished work I can set my mind on getting things sorted out Smiler YAY!! I was thinking about knitting presents for people, as I am in the process of doing myself a poncho, which is slow work, as it has to be massive to go round me at the moment! and what is with this freezing blooming weather!!! I'm not ready for it yet!!!

Hi Bonio, thank you for your always positive and encouraging words, you lovely mums to be made me cry, with all your positvie attitudes.....I'll tell you what there are going to be some very lucky babies in the world come January Smiler

Hope everyone is doing ok, thank you again for putting up with all my moans and groans re the pub, from today onwards there will be a much more relaxed Jo around!!!

love to all

Joxx

Morning Everyone,

Hope everyone is feeling okay today.........[Smiler]

Jo Im so happy for you, hopefully you will be able to enjoy the rest of your pregnancy stress free, I cant wait til I finish up work but for me I have another 6 weeks to go plus my 3 days in January.
But after what happened the other day im thinking maybe i might not be able to work up til then. Im back at work for the time being so I have just to see how I get on, my boss has been really good as she is constantly checking to make sure im okay and she keeps saying if i feel the need to go home, Ive just to go.

Maria how are you feeling, are you at home or are you still working?
I hope your iron tablets start working soon........[Smiler]

Bonio thank you for your advice on the book, im going to get it at the weekend and see if it helps with my worry over the labour.
I think to be honest my biggest fear was that I actually realised that im going to have a baby soon!!!! It has just made it all feel more real.

Well Nic have you finished your xmas shopping, how organised are you, I havent got a clue what im buying everyone yet but i will make a start this weekend now. Hope your feeling okay and not working too hard, have you decided when you are going to finish up work yet?

Aly hows your pelvs bearing up now, I hope you are having plenty of rest and relaxation at home, although im sure Alex is keeping you up and about. Baby Bobby's room sounds lovely.....[Smiler]

Yep, no one should move house when they are 30 weeks pregnant. And they should not be trying to unpack things when they are 32 weeks pregnant and can't bend over properly and keep getting stiff hips and back pains doing it! We are moved, but the house is still a complete disaster, and no internet connection (hence an absence from here for like forever).

I have a two hour commute to work right now which has been a bit hellish. I just come home, eat a bit of dinner, and then fall asleep pretty much. But only 15 working days left thankfully!

I was hoping to come on here to say congrats on your leave Jo, but that is completely crap what they have sprung on you. I hope it all sorts itself out but you really don't need that right now...

I too keep feeling like this thing is trying to dig itself out from my belly button. Other than that it hasn't really been an eventful time bump-wise. Have a new GP to see next week, and we have to discover what our new hospital is like. Because of the move we didn't sign up to antenatal classes in the old neighbourhood and although I know people don't find them that useful, I am feeling really ill prepared for the next few weeks (doesn't help that i haven't had much time to think about it with work and moving) and I am worried that we've missed the boat on taking classes.

Interviewing for my maternity cover on the 22nd - will be really weird. One candidate on paper looks so great I am worried they are all going to realise how crap I am while I am gone! I am actually going to be off for 13 months exactly as I am taking the first two weeks as annual leave and then we close for two weeks for the holidays.

Morning everyone,

Jo - I'm glad your feeling chirpy, it will all work out for the best in the end, these things are sent to test us and only make us stronger and more open minded in the end, look at it as lovely little life lesson that's been sent to you for a reason and you will be able to draw on this experience in years to come.

Oh Lisa, I know what you mean about having a baby at the end of it, I was just looking at the mosses basket in our bedroom last night and imagined a little baby in there and got a bit freaked out. The realisation that it would be totally dependant on me and be with me (I hope!) for the rest of my life was a bit weird for a moment or two I tell you!

Nappies! Oh they are driving me mad! I definitely want to use washables but there are so many to choose from and they are so expensive, as you'll need about 18 -20 nappies. I know they'll work out cheaper in the long run and so much better for the environment. I read somewhere that the most sensible thing to do (especially if it's your first) is to start off with disposables (I'm using Tushies as they are biodegradable and have not nasty toxic chemicals in them) and then when you've got the hang of the baby in a couple of months then start using washables, it's just easier and less work at the beginning when it is all a bit over whelming. I might just then go for the good old Terry towelling ones as they are so cheap, about 12 - 18 for six (depending on size) compared to 7 - 10 for one all in one! What's everyone else doing?

Aly - how are you doing? Not in too much pain I hope!

Lisa - your boss sounds really lovely, it must be so nice to know you're in good hands at work; you just take everything slower than normal and try not to get stressed.

Eb - you're a nutter for moving at 30 weeks! I was just saying to DH on the weekend when we were sorting out the loft, that I don't know how anyone could have the energy to move when they were 6 months pregnant; I haven't been able to bend down properly for about 2 months! I hope it will all make sense soon!

Maria - how are your energy levels today?

Happy Thursday everyone!

Bonio x x

hi everyone, jo you sound much happier, bonios right, everything happens for a reason and what will be will be, later on in life you may be able to help yourself in a similar situation or someone else..with your wisdom.... oooooooooooooo jo is today your last day or yesterday? I keep getting a little panic stricken about finances but i'm sure we'll be fine!?!?! it can stop homebirth as when your anaemic during labour you can't cope with increased blood loss as well as someone who isn't anaemic. so fingers crossed....

I feel sleepy and tired today AGAIN...... ju practically told me it was all in my head last night..... grrrrrrrr, they never learn do they. I wont tell you what i called him........ you're opinion of me would never be the same again.......

I could defo not move house at the moment.....you've done very well eb, waw.....

Lisa i'm so sorry to hear of your scare, do they think you will be ok till your due date? or what caused it? your boss sounds lovely, its nice to know there are some good ones out there.......

Hi nic, its lovely to hear from you......... hope your relaxing a bit more to..... i think we should all go on strike to be honest.....

I'm doing the NCT classes, its the 26th Nov 10-3, 3rd Dec(our1ST wedding anniversary) 10-12 and 10th Dec 10-3, my midwife told me not to bother with NHS ones maybe to just do the tour of hospital just in case..

Ordered my tens machine this weekend, coming on 16th December so Baby Benjamin best just hold off till then!!!!!!!

Hi everyone

Lisa, sorry to hear of your day in hospital, I really hope you and baby are doing well and you get as close to birth date as possible. At least you are organised with stuff for baby, pram etc if baby does come early.

Hi Maria, thats pants about your anaemia and the home birth plans, i had iron deficiency anaemia (1st pregnancy)and was prescribed iron tablets. Cause terribled constipation and piles, i know ... thats gross. Anyway if i get that again i would just alter my diet, more broccoli, curly kale is good, baked beans, that sort of thing like Bonio said. The iron tablets are very concentrated and you need to take some other vitamin for the iron to be absorbed, (don't kno what it is, need to look up) becomes a vicious circle of iron tablets and laxatives, and gavisocon, just not comfortable.

Graduation was fantastic, I got to see my classmates again so we're going for a christmas meal sometime. Stirling Castle looked spooky in the dark, it was cold outside and there were fires in baskets and torches of flames as well so you could see where you were walking. Event was indoors in Great Hall. There was a pipe band and a champagne reception afterwards, really lovely evening. All classmates have found jobs, mostly in school nurseries, so v pleased for them. Wore new black maternity trousers out Dorothy Perkins and got a white blouse in M&S to cover bump, as I needed something with a button on front.

Better go off for Alex and to tesco, really fancy Chilli con carne and rice followed by Cookie ice cream.

Aly

Hi again, had a look at BBC website about iron-deficiency anaemia and it says iron tablets are good solution and to wash them down with orange juice (vit c) as that helps absorbtion of iron.

YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!

well so far on my day of freedom I have not slept in, as we have a tractor and diggers outside, nevermind, dont care at all!!!! I have done some knitting! I have pampered and preened myself like I have never before, I got given a load of goodies, from my gorgeous customers that work at estee lauder, clinique, and sisley, God bless em!!! I have exfoliated, scrubbed, replensihed, rejuvinated, rehydrated, face packed, face masked, foot scrubbed, and many more!!! I feel like a new woman!

I want you all to finish work now! its fab!

I'm trying not to stress about being easily replaced, and the lovely girl that has taken over being far too lovely and making me feel like a spare part! I am such a jealous cow! Everything that once seemed so stressful has been taken over so smoothly, and I havent heard her swear once!! Makes me look like a stressing freak!! Everyone seems so much happier here, now that I am finished, which makes me a little sad...... weird or what? Trying not to get upset by it all, but the emotions are still all over the place, so going to go and investigate at elemis, about having a (rather expensive in my mind) mother to be massage, and also go and get the raspberry leaf tea as I am exactly 32 weeks today.

Right, I hope you are all well, I am sorry for it being a me me me post, thanks to you all for getting me through some sh*tty times with my work and stuff, couldnt have done it without all your wonderful support.

Love you all

Joxx

Jo, just you wait till the new girls dealt with a christmas in the pub......i'm sure she'll soon be swearing and stressing....she'll be trying extra hard at mo to make it look like she can cope with the world.....just you wait for your laughing.....

How are you bonio? and oh jo, the decleor massage is better and more comfy than the elemis one in my opinion...... easier to get up off bed than floor now isn't it!!!!!!!

Oh Jo you sound like you're really doing the right thing pampering yourself, I had a pamper night on Wednesday, de-fluffing, exfoliating, face packing moisturising. Oh yes treat yourself to a mother to be massage for sure.

You will have been stressing over your job more than normal - you're pregnant! so try not to look at it as a true reflection of you and your ability to cope and it's kind of not real. I cope with things very differently now and get so upset by the littlest thing - like my cat catching a mouse this morning and me not being able to chase after her to save it, I really had to concentrate on not thinking about it or I would have cried! I say relish in being a spare part!

Maria - I'm not sure that there is a recommended does of raspberry leaf to take, I think some people take the tablets as they hate the tea, I personally love the taste of the tea so I'll be drinking lashings of it!

Maria - Jo what are you doing about nappies?

Bonio x x
