What is a membrane sweep and how soon after can you go into lanour

Hi!

I had a membrane sweep with my second child and went into labour the same day!!
I don't know why they did it though as i was two weeks from my due date?? Caused me problems, but i know it works really well for most people, i had contractions coming and going for 3days before i finally had ds, but he was difficult anyway as he was back to back.
Anyway they basically sweep round you membranes at your cervix, doesn't hurt, maybe uncomfortable, but over and done with very quickly.

I had one with My second baby but I still did not go into labour for abother week and a half. Not sure why. Never mind, everyone is different. Not sure if I will have one this time or not, will see.

i had a sweep with both of my pregnancys.the 1st did nothing [V]then when i had another with my 2nd i went into labour the nxt day [],its different for each pregnancy.
