Smiler Big Grin

Wow sorry I've been AWOL for so long but it is fab to come back and see all these little babies have been born.

Congratulations to all of you - I am so pleased all of our little bundles are all here safely. I will try to log on more often and would like to come over to the parenting thread with you.

Jake is doing so well - he is 9lb 12 now and takes 6oz of milk every 4 hours. He is nearly ready to drop his night feed but not quite. He only takes about 2oz at that feed so hopefully it won't be too long now.

The poor little man has a chest infection though - we've just come back from the docs. He is now wearing his banana medicine - that is so going to help his chest!!! Roll Eyes I think I'll have to sneak it into his milk like I do all his other medicines. He only likes calpol!

He has his 16 week jabs tomorrow and starts jabs in a couple of weeks for RSV. These are only given to babies with very low immune systems - poor lad as if he hasn't had enough needles poked into him!!!

Anyway he's due his 2pm feed so best go. I will try really hard to stay in touch - congratulations again

Thanks for the congrats ladies. We came home today and Ffion's doing well albeit she was a little slow to start feeding and is a bit jaundiced. Had a bit of a hard delivery (teach me to be so smug about my easy pregnancy!) and was in slow (painful!) labour for 6 days. Went in to hosp 2am Sunday morning and she was born 17.17 on Sunday. There were a few complications to include having to have a manual delivery of the placenta but she's ok and thats the main thing. Will post birth story and pics soon x

Hiya Tracey,

Glad to hear you are both well. Lucy is still unsettled as she has bad constipation but got some lactulose from the docs yesterday so hopefully that will go through her system soon and make her a bit more settled.

Fingers crossed please!!!!!

Hello all! THought I'd briefly post my birth story while I get a mo (nothing brief about the birth though!)
Had been having cramps on Sunday (due date was the Sat). Was awake a bit in the night with cramps but ok. During Monday night I had what I now know to be contractions and a really painful back and hip. Couldn't lie down or sleep really at all. Tailed off in the day then started again Tues night. This pattern went on! We rang the hosp early hours of THurs am as contractions 5 mins apart. Told to come in in an hour then contractions stopped again. Same story Thurs night. By Fri I was desperate and completely exhausted so rang the consultant who did a sweep to speed things up as he said I was in slow labour and 3cm dilated. Things seemed to be moving Fri night but stopped again in the morning. On Saturday I was in agony with my back and hip but contractions were sporadic. They started again in the evening and I rang the hospital to see if I could go in to be checked as I had a feeling something was wrong. Midwife was horrible to me - said she could tell by speaking to me that I wasn't in labour and did I have a clue what labour was. THat nearly pushed me over the edge I tell ya! I'd been using the tens machine throughout the week with some success but by then couldn't tolerate it. We went to bed but DH got me up as I was just moaning and not really talking (rare event!) He phoned hosp and said we were coming in and by then I was a lot more compos mentis.
When we got there the midwife on the assessment unit was fab - I was 5 cm and having regularish contractions. Was sent to delivery and given gas and air. Couldn't sit or lie comfortably so was given pethidine so I could sleep a bit. Turned out baby was lying slightly backto back which we didn't know until then. Checked after 4 hours and was 7cm dilated. New midwife came on and was checked after another 4 hours but she thought I was only 6cm. I was gutted! Consultant came and recommended syntocinon drip to speed things up as contractions had tailed off again. He recommended an epidural as he thought I'd be a long and painful haul due to baby's position. The epidural was fab and did its job! Unfortunately the top up didn't work as the line must have moved. THe syntocinon worked and by 4pm I was given the go ahead to push which took 70 mins or so. Had lost the benefit of the epidural so it hurt but at least I had some control over that which I didn't over my lazy contractions! Ffion was born at 17.17 . Only thing I really remember was that she had really big blue eyes and was blowing bubbles. Tried for a few hours to remove placenta but no go so had to go to theatre where I had a spinal block coz epidural had moved. Bit sore from removal but other than that ok. No tears or stitches so thats a start!
Ffion didn't feed well at the start but she's better now. She had a more settled night last night too which is good! Have posted some pics on MSN and MSN 2WW. Hope you're all ok xx

Oh wow Munchy. What a long labour. That sounds similar to mine with Josh. It was a nightmare so i can relate. Josh and Lucy were also back to back like Ffion. It kills doesn't it! Poor you. At least it is over now and you have your gorgeous little girl. I can't believe the MW that had a go though. That is just sooooo wrong!!! Good job i didn't have someone do that to me otherwise they would have got a mouthful from me. I am not polite in labour. hehe. What a pain having to go to theatre to get the placenta out. And i thought 20 mins was bad enough with me.

Must go look at the pics and coo over them. lol. Make sure you stay in touch when you can hun.

Lucy is a bit more settled now as the lactulose has started to work. Yay
