Hi Dee, unfortunately there is no easy answer to your question as every single woman is different. I came off the pill in September after taking it for 7 years and fell pregnant in January but did not go back to what I would call normal periods between. I had a 5 day period in October which was not too heavy but I did have a lot of cramps and backache (you forget what all that is like!!) I then started a peirod the begining of November which lasted all the way through to mid December - not nice. I am convinced I had another 'normal' 5 day period after that but according to the dates the docs have given me I couldn't have [?][?][?] I am looking forward to seeing if my scan gives a different date whihc would make more sense.
It am trying really hard to remeber what it was like when I first came off the pill and whether or not I had pains, I have dipped in and out of quite a few of the threads on here and have seen various symptoms that ladies have experienced having come of the pill and it really does vary from person to person. All I can say is try not to worry or read into it too much I am sure it is just your body adjusting to the change in hormones it is experiencing. If you are worried then see your doctor, don;t feel silly and don't be brushed off - it is what your doctor is paid for[Smiler]. I went to see my doc when my period went on so long and she did just tell me that it would take some time for my body to adjust, although she didn't really solve the problem it was good to know that it was nothing to worry about. She also said if I needed to go back then to do so. Hope that has been of some help, as I said I ahve read severl of these threads and there are loads of ladies out there who I'm sure will have some wonderful advice for you. Take care and keep us all posted on your progress. Love Mel xxx

Hey Dee, let me know how the doctor's appointment goes. As for the new question I remember years ago a friend of mine was going on holiday and didn't want her period and her doctor said it was ok to not take the week off the pill to stop this happening. I don't think they would advise you doing this every month but I don't think it would cause any long term problems if you did it every now and then.

You also need to talk to your dr. about doing this. If you run your pill packs together, then you'll need another couple of packs throughout the year rather than just 12 or 13 or whatever it is. And your dr. may not want to prescribe you more if they know that's what you are doing. Just a thought.

Hi there

I'm in the same boat regarding strange pains. My period was delayed by 10 days and just had AF which has just gone now. Since I was due to come on I've been getting really nasty pulling and stretching feelings I my lower tummy - more on the right side than the left. I went to A&E last night as I couldn't take any more and my doc couldn't see me until tomorrow. They did urine tests and blood tests and (without knowing the blood test results) the doctor checked my overies to see it there was anything seriously wrong there. He said that if there was then I would have jumped off the couch when he touched my tummy. He thinks that it may be painful ovulation pains.

I remember when I came off the pill last year, by body went all over the place and I suffered from constipation, the same stretchy, pulling sensation and I put on weight, became bloated etc. It was just my body getting back into its normal way of working.

In both cases - 1 - when I stopped taking the pill and my body was getting back to normal and 2 - when my period was delayed (probably down to stress as my mum was ill in hospital) I've felt the same uncomfortable symptoms. I'm now putting it down to my body kick-starting again after a disrupted cycle.

Does this sound familiar to anyone else? If so - please leave a message, I'm very interested to hear.

hey all i went to the doctors and she did a urine and blood tests on me (blood tests because i have hgh prolactin levels and the hospital i attend never sent back the test results) anyways 2 cut a long story short im not pregnant and i was put back onto logynon so as i would definetly get AF. im not happy about it but it was either thator the confusionas 2 whats wrong with me would have went on and on so i took my logynon 2day and painkillers painkillers arent helping t all still have that horrible pain in my left side so no definite answer just tablets blood tests and a quick examanation

Hi, i am having strange pains too and i agree with tinyem that its your body kick starting again. I'm taking Clomid at the moment to make me OV, just finished AF but my stomach is in all sorts of pains and twinges. I reckon after years of lying dormant while on the pill, its your body getting slowly back to normal. God, It hurts though!

Dee,

I've been getting pains in my right handside for the last year and a half. They have operated to see what it can be - (very invasive) and have still not worked out what it could be. I came of the injection in Dec 04 and the pain increased, it was still there while on the injection but not as much. They have still not worked out what it is!! I used to get so much pain before in the same spot when I was not on any BCP when I was ovulating. I don't know if I am doing that at the moment as I have had no AF since coming off the injection. It is so frustrating as they have no idea other than it could be a cyst!! Which is helpful!! I hope they get to the bottom of it for you!

Cx

Hi,
I just wanted to say that I've had a pain in my right side for about 3 months. It's got really quite bad and now is constant (although it used to just be around time of af). I saw the doc the other day and she suspects I have endometriosis. I'm waiting to see a specialist now.
I don't mean to worry you as it may turn out to be nothing- we girls are very bad for worrying, but it is worth bearing in mind.
Hope this helps. Maia

Hi there everyone!

What is Clomid? I didn't know you could get things which can make you ovulate? Do you get it from the doctor? I'm just getting extremely paranoid about never being able to have children which according to the nurse at my doctors is very normal as most women have doubts that they will conceive - until it happens.

I'm taking Agnus Cactus and Evening Primrose to give my cycle some support. I'm going to see my doc on Monday if the pressure kind of discomfort doesn't subside. It's not really painful but it doesn't feel that good - very, very uncomfortable.

Hey tinyem,

I had to pay to see a consultant and he has put me on a fertility drug - Clomid. This will hopefully kick start my system and make me Ovulate. He asked if we were definately ready for children as Clomid is very effective but like everyone else, think that I wont be able to conceive etc. Have taken one course of Clomid so far and am going back to the consultant next Tuesday for a review. If nothing has happened they will probably up my dose of Clomid. I'll keep you posted xxx
