hello guys sorry been AWOL!! Got a good excuse!! Big Grin

Lochlan Robert arrived on Sunday 22nd June at 2.49am after an incredibly long, painful and difficult back labour - who said second babies were easier??!?

He weighed 9lb 5oz so is a whopper and was very difficult to get out but he was worth it. I had the same complications as last time and my placenta got stuck again so I had to have a manual removal in theatre. Have just been discharged from hospital and just got home. Will post more and catch up properly when I've recovered a bit more.

Congrats to Lea by the way - so pleased we had our babies around the same time!!!!

love
Loocy xx

I was justr checking in to see if there was any news from Loocy! I am so glad i did. CONGRATS HUN. What a great weight too. Gorgeous name. I wonder if we were in labour at the same time then? We swapped due dates lol :-) I am so glad we both had our babies at the same time. I did not want to leave you here waiting all alone.

I can't believe we are all done.....

I am still on cloud nine and so in love with my baby girl that it brings me to tears sometimes. It has been a horrendous 9 months and I cannot believe she is here.

Oh Looocy, congratulations!!! Sorry he made his entrance a bit hard for you...ouch. I am feeling very strange now that we have all had our babies. I never thought this time would come and I have enjoyed the last few months a lot. All that time on the 2WW and now I am at the end of a due date thread and can hop over to the parenting one!

Lea/Nicnak, I know what you mean. I just keep looking at Jared and just have overwhelming love for this little man. He is so precious and long awaited that I can't believe it. Congrats to you Lea on the birth of Cora too. What a lovely unususal name. Looking forward to hearing how it all went.

I've just dropped off my little girls to school so am aiming for a nice restful day with Jared pottering about.

Bye for now XX

Ok, i thought I would post the birth story whilst i remembered it all!

BIRTHSTORY

It started 19th June. I did LOADS of housework, sweeping, mopping, etc. I ate lots of pineapple, drank raspberry tea etc and went for a long walk. I started contracting every 20 minutes in the evening but went to bed and slept ok. I woke up in the morning of the 20th feeling nothing and very disappointed. After an hour or so they started again...20 mins apart. They went down to 15 after an hour or so and finally 10 minutes after a couple of hours. I ignored them to be honest as i thought they were just BHs. DH kept saying...you are not in labour lol! By about 1pm i started getting suspect. They were feeling different and hurting. I spoke to the midwife who came out and said I was 3cm and fully effaced and the baby was really low. She gave me another sweep and told me she did not think i would be pregnant by tomorrow (21st).

I started timing them properly then. They came down to 6 mins and i called the midwife again. She came out and at that point I was then around 4-5 mins apart and a huge 5cm! This was it. I was sent to the hospital. They were so busy though they asked her to do a homebirth.....I was like NO WAY! I am not ready for that! They had few beds and di not want to take me! Anyway, the midwife said it was tough they would just have to find me a bed...

On the way there we got pulled over by the police for speeding :Smiler How embarrassing lol. Darren explained I was in labour and we got our own police escort to the hospital! Lights and sirens etc. Over shooting lights, cutting down the middle of traffic and going through speed cameras. It was great.

We got to the hospital and I was contracting every 2-3 minutes and by this point it was hurting A LOT. I was checked expecting to be 7cm+ and I was 2cm!!!!!!!!! 2!!!!!! How on earth could that have happened! What the hell happened to 5 cm!?!? I was so upset! They offered to send me home! 30 miles away. I knew things were real so i decided to stay anyway but cried for an hour. Contractions were intense and coming very fast but I was not even in labour apparently!

Anyway, at 8pm on the 20th I was sent down to the ante natal ward. I was checked at 1:30am and was now 4-5cm and finally in labour. I was sent back up to L&D. Things were heating up. I was due to be checked at 6am when they hoped I would be almost ready to push (at this point I had been in labour with regular contractions at 2-3 mins apart for 13 hours!). When I was checked I was a mere 5-6cm. I was gutted (and cried some more). She decided to break my waters to speed things along. Things really started to heat up now and I was worried I would need pain relief. Only had gas and air at this point. After 3 contractions I felt the urge to push...it was uncontrollable. I tried to tell her that and she had a go at me for trying to push when my cervix was not ready. It was so hard. After about 4 of these contractions and my body was trying to push her out the midwife checked me and I was fully dilated! I had gone from 5cm - 10cm in a matter of 3 contractions! So once she finally noticed I was able to push I was pushing for 15 minutes or so!

That's when things got a little panicky.....the pushing stage did not go to plan. I was pushing pushing pushing and managed to give birth to her head fine but then things came to a halt...things were not happening any further. The heart rate dropped really low and the midwife started to get a little worried worried (I will never forget the look on her face). She rang for help and another midwife and pediatrician came in. It seems her shoulder had got stuck in my pelvis and she was stuck halfway out!. Things got a little worrying at that stage. It seemed to last forever. I was pushing some more but she would not come out. Finally with 2 midwives manauvering me and her she was finally free! I was so frightened by the looks on the faces of the midwives.....there was no cry. I was asking what was wrong and why there was no cry or movement and they never really answered me. She had come out completely stiff and the most scary thing was her colour. She was purple/blue and not breathing. For 30 seconds i honestly thought we had lost her. DHs knees went to jelly and he almost fainted and I was in tears asking what was wrong and if she was ok. Finally they revived her and the crying started. I have never been SOOOOO relieved.

Anyway after all that......

Cora was born at 7:04am on Saturday 21st June weighing a whopping 8lbs 13ozs Big Grin

We are so happy Big Grin

Hiya thought I'd quickly post my birth story and then we can all move over to the parenting thread and catch up there!!

On Friday 20th I couldn't sleep that night for horrific back ache and spent most of the night walking around practically crying. On Saturday 21st during the day I was having sporadic contractions in my back radiating round to my tummy but they weren't coming regularly so I just assumed it was more painful BHs. Around 3pm on Saturday they started coming every 5-6 minutes and I got in the bath, phoned my brother to come over and told DH we'd better get ready for the hospital. We eventually went to hospital at 8pm when they were coming every 2 minutes and we were thinking it wouldn't be that long til baby was born! ha ha. Well, the hospital admitted me right away and checked and I was 4cm! Hurrah. Then the midwife said that she didn't think it would be long as this was my second - she reckoned a couple of hours so DH and i were like hurrah!!!!

But, she then went off duty and a new midwife came who obviously realised right away that the baby was back to back but nobody told us this. The new midwife said that she could only check me every 4 hours which confused me and Dh as we assumed by the time 4 hours was up I would have had the baby!!!!LOL. Well, I got in the birthing pool about 10pm and the relief was instantaneous but around 11.30 the pain started getting too much for me again so I had to get out and start taking gas and air. She checked me again and said I was 8cm and advised me to have an epidural which really confused me, as I was thinking I was almost there at 8cm!!! i asked her about my waters breaking as they still hadn't gone by this point but she said she wouldn't break them as it would speed everything up and I was in too much pain for that! So at that point, I lost the will to live and had pethidine which was fab as I slept for the next 2 hours and so did DH!!! ha ha. Once the pethidine started to wear off I was back on the gas and air. In the end I didn't fully dilate til 2.40am and then he was born at 2.48am so only 8 minutes of pushing but boy was that a painful 8 minutes and my waters broke just as his head was crowning - I was convinced at one point he was going to come out in his sac!!!! Only a couple of stitches - just a small tear but then my placenta got stuck and they couldn't get it out so I had to have a spinal block to get it removed in theatre - all that pain and I had to have an epidural again anyway. Anyway bless him he's here, he's feeding every 2-3 hours, breastfeeding is sooo much easier second time around and it's going well.
Right enough chatting from me - see you over in parenting!!!!

love to everyone
Loocy xxxxx
