Morning ladies! Shock horror I've broken my anal routine of coming on at lunch! But no kids today so sod it - I'm going to have a cup of green tea and surf the net!!! Also I had rubbish night sleep - must be catching this insomnia bug from ali and ellie - so feeling a bit confussed this morning! nicola - not sure about the jabs but I would imagine it goes in either the bum or the upper thigh like pethidine??? I like your thinking on the car seat situation - I hadn't realised it was only 2 hours recommended stay in one - good point that seeing as how so many babies spend half their life in a car seat. I've got a three way carrier sling which I used for a fractious childminding baby that I intend to use alot when the baby is small rather than faffing about with the buggy etc might just go from car seat to sling eg on the school run etc - the front carrying ones are really easy to clip onto yourself and if baby does wake up during "transfer" then I guess the rocking motion of me walking will send it back to sleep again?...do you mind me asking how old you are? I had a much easier pregnancy with DS (I was only just 26 in the Feb when he was born in the March) and I reckon that this time has been so much harder because a) its not my first and b)I'll be 31 when this baby is born in May - I find physically I'm finding it alot harder. You won't have a devil child just because it was an easy pregnancy - it could be that you are young and fit - after all your body hasn't had the strain some of us have had!!! Teri - hi hun. Still not sure about gretna green - think it would still be cheaper to do it here as the flight/train fare will be collossal for me, DP and 2 children which is what will bump up the price by almost double!! Going to chat to one of the local pubs who have a wicked skittle alley out the back and they don't charge to hire it out. Good luck with the mw today! Ellie - great news about the scan results - I'd be very happy with 79%! Like you say - sit back and enjoy the rest of your pregnancy. What did you eat in the end? Keep thinking I'd love to go out for a meal but don't know what I'd order - everything on the menu seems to have something that we shouldn't eat in it!!! Ali - hope you're feeling better today xx Right - Rach Jade that pooch of yours.... Did she actually bark at you and show her teeth when she lunged? Like Ali says - there are different reasons a dog will snap or lunge - and they aren't always sinister. But if she barked growled and showed teeth then she meant business. I agree with Ali and Teri - Border collies are very highly strung and can be difficult to keep as pets. They also have issues with dominance - and at 6 months she is hitting her teens really and starting to test her boundaries and wants to find her niche in the family. It sounds like she feels that place is as pack leader and you most definately must not let her become the pack leader. Like Ali, I am not cruel, but believe that dogs need a firm hand to know they are the bottom of the pack and must never be allowed to get misguided ideas of what is acceptable behaviour. Do you let your pup on the sofa and the beds? If she is a dominant dog (and bitches can try to be) then she must never be allowed on the furniture as she could start to "guard" it - ie if you try to sit down she will go for you as she thinks its "her" chair/bed etc. It may sound brutal but the advice teri gave about pinning a dominant dog to the floor works really well. Whether you keep her or not depends very much on how firm and strong you think you and your family can be. You can "fix" her without too much issue if you are consistent and strong - but if you now feel scared of her she will sense that and you will not be able to get her back on track. A decision should be made soon though because at 6 months old she is still young enough for a farmer to take her on and train her to work. You could also try crate training her - its really good for puppies - not just to toilet train them but also to give them their "own space" as they are den animals and like to have a personal den space they can retreat to away from the family sometimes. It also means you can control when she is allowed out in the lounge with you and DD so she realises that YOU dictate the rules not her. Might work. I've always crate trained my dogs and it helps especially with staffs as they can chew as pups and cause alot of damage!!! I have to admit that my first ever dog was a collie and I had to rehome her to a working farm as when I brought DS home from hospital she lunged and snapped at him when he cried. Looking back I think she was just frightened of him (and I made all the classic mistakes of letting her up on the furniture and she was allowed to sleep on the bed etc when she was a pup) and with perservenerance I could probably have rehabilitated her BUT she is definately very cut out for the working life and is a successful sheep dog now and I do think she would have been quite stressed had she stayed in our house forever with kids everywhere etc....only you can decide what to do and if you are scared or DD is scared - she has to go as your dog will know that and use it to her advantage (they are clever little buggers collies!). If my staff EVER showed any kind of agression I'd be on him like a tonne of bricks and he'd be on parole for a few weeks and if it happened a second time or the trianing didn't work he'd be gone. I love him dearly but with my children I do not take chances. And even though he has a fantastic temperment with them and certainly lives up to his "nanny dog" nickname I still don't leave him and DS alone in the same room for even 5 mins. Not worth the risk. I also do not let my dog go upstairs - he is allowed the kitchen and lounge and the side return of the house - the kids play area and the upsairs are out of bounds. He is not allowed on the furniture and I don't let him have "real" bones just chew ones (the real ones he tends to be possessive off whereas the chewy ones my DS can snatch off him and the dog doesn't react at all - but with a real bone he will growl briefly before running away to his bed as he knows he had a smacked nose for growling when he did it once!) Hope this drivel makes sense and helps a bit - I can recommend some good books and websites if you decide to go the retraining route and keep her xx Phew - after all that typing I'm tired and feel really sick this morning - got a sort of metal taste in my mouth which is really unpleasant...nasty. Been at this for ages - keep answering the phone and doing other things in between so probably cross posted loads of people! Sorry!

Blimey you lot can chat!
Havent got alot of time so just wanted to pop on and say hi to everyone.
Yay to everyone that have had scans.
All of my baby's bedding arrived yesterday and i love it its so exciting, we ordered the ollie and mollie range from next, the curtains are much nicer than i expected and come with heavy duty lining so they are perfect!
I have also come up with a good idea to keep my dad busy..... we have got a small wooden chest that would be perfect for babies toy box so i have asked my dad to paint the ollie and mollie characters on it so it will match the nursery. My Dad is really arty so i know it will be perfect and hopefully keep his mind off his problems.
Has anyone else had a bad back? mine is killing me right down low (almost my bottom) i keep getting stuck when i bend over. Any ideas what i can do about it? Its so bad im even thnking of starting maternity leave as soon as i can
Speak to you all later
Nat xx

Nat, exciting about the bedding coming, I have all mine just waiting on cot to come - moses basket coming tomorrow so can play with that just now. as for backache - expert on that one now, my spd kicked in a few weeks back and DH laughs at me sitting in floor and then cant get back up or as you said bend down to pick something up and stick I always thought heat was good for sore backs, but midwife told me cold packs instead. doesnt feel as good but if it helps, and she also said stop bending Zoe, where ever you have your wedding I am sure it will be lovely. As long as you and your DF there thats all that matters. I got married this time round in Cyprus and it was just me and DH and it was lovely.. had the big white wedding first time round and can honestly say it was stressful and this time was so peaceful No bloods for me today will have at 28 weeks but left off today - baby heartbeat fine and measuring just over 25 weeks so long baby for me I think, never have big babies so fingers crossed xx

HI Nat, My back was killing me about 2 weeks ago, especially bending over the bath and stuff. I have got them to change my chair in work which makes a huge difference. But I think it has eased anyway - it might be growing pains????

Message for Nat How are you doing? And how's your dad? Good idea about the drawing for the chest, it'll give your dad something else to focus on. Thanks for posting a message for me and sorry I've taken so long to respond! My dad has had his ultrasound and has been told he has a fatty liver caused by drink and next week is having a laposcopy (sp?) to check his stomach and surrounding areas. The scan showed the pancreas was ok but I find this confusing as his gp told him it was chronically damaged. Mum is seeing her consultant next week as well, all it seems to be is hospital visits. I'm 31 weeks tomorrow and cant believe how fast its going! Had a bit of spotting Tuesday so went up to the hospital where they monitored the baby, gave me a swab (which was lovely !) and sent me back to work. I think it was from the thrush i keep getting and they said its nothing to worry about. Now we're just trying to get everything ready! Thanks again for the message Take care, Hannah xxx

LOL i have decided to only wear the splints in bed, as they are HORRID HORRID things. teri - i was told no more bloods til 28 weeks, i think that was the same the last 2 times as well. Hope it went well today, its always good to hear the HB Nic - Id better be having an angel then! lol. I just cant believe how crap this pregnancy has been, i really breezed through the other two They have had to add extra pages to my maternity notes, as they have filled up the rest already! I feel such a shit pregnant woman! lol Ohhh, jag in the bum, how horrible! I had my 24 week appt yesterday, ive got scan consultant in 2 weeks, then another MW at 28 weeks. I asked if its really all nessacery, but apparantly it is Ali - Thankfully, ive had no trouble (apart from some stiffness) in my pelvis since xmas! I have been taking things much easier though, and that seems to have helped loads. I just use the tubigrip now, no painkillers or anything Hope you enjoy the NCT classes Nat - wonderfull idea for your Dads project - and it will be a lovely keepsake for your baby! Zoe - ive had a horrible taste too, but i seem to get it after eating sweet stuff. my wrists have held up after all that typing, so the splint waering at night must be helping

afternoon ladies and bumps!!! all i hav doen since yesterday was cry and its all over my dog i know some of you will think its pathetic but shes like a child to me. me and dh had a good conversation last night and i rang the Border Cllie rescue today and was advised that she has to be rehomed especially with a new baby coming along. i just feel so bad and guilty like weve failed her in some way. But my real children camoe first and i cant have her with them. We have a friend of ours who has a couple of dogs and she is going to have her she will get lots of exercisse and the other dogs will keep her stimulated. and we get to see her every now and then which i would really like. i know im a wet blanket really haha ok enough waffleing about the dog?/ jenni- i get ligamentitis (spelling) its a form of repetitve strain injusry from my job and i have to wear those splint things so can sympathise with you how awful they are. ali/zoe thank you for the advise on poppy!! nat- thats a lovely idea for your dad to do. hope your back feels better soon lisa- chocolate crispy ckes yumm yumm i made jam tart with my daughter today. well im the opposite to everyone on the sleeping thing i cant get enough of it. alarm went off at 6.30 this morning and i slept rite through it woke at 8 i have tp be at work for half past hence i was late. i could just sleep anytime anywhere im sure of it. rite better go gonna drown my sorrrows in a bowl of ice cream haha rach-jade

Ah RJ, I'm so sorry it has come to that with Poppy. And I don't think you are wet blanket or pathetic at all!!!!!! I love my 2 babies dearly and can completely sympathise at having to get your head round not having her anymore - i'd have to take a week off work and i'm not joking!! From what you have said, I think you have boh made the right decision. You can't have her if she is so unpredictable, with or without the new bubs, your DD is more likely to be affeced if anything had happened because she is mobile. Chin up pet and should you decide to get another 4-legged baba, I can highly recommend my Harvey, stupid, predictable and you can tie the pram to him and he can walk the baby for you!!!! Take care xxx

ali, how stupid making all you pg women travel to your nct classes!! yeah i heard bubs hb yesterday, ah it's so cute, bubs had been going mental in the health centerwaiting room, and even gave the doppler a big kick, midwife got a wee fright haha, don't think it liked getting poked with the doppler. hope your sleeping improves honey. zoe, i've got a sling also, so i have pleanty options. i'm 26 and this is my first and like you say i am a young fit health woman so thats probably it, lucky me! i feel so bad for everyone else. boo to the metal taste thats a symptom i've managed to avoid. nat, i've got ollie and molly too, and i love it it's so cute, still waiting on dh to put boarder up, so i can then do curtains and light shade and see it all come together. i was impressed with the curtains too. i get back pain too, also getting alot of pain in my right rib/breast bone which is really bothering me, but i find a nice warm bath everynight sorts me out. nice idea for your dad, bubs will love it. teri, jenni, i'm the same no bloods at 22weeks but getting them at 28 weeks, you gals seem to see mw more than me, i'm still every 8 weeks (16w, 22w, then 28w) after that i'm every 4 weeks cos my next will be 32w for another anti-d jag lisa thanks for the info on the anti-d so not looking forward to that. rach sorry about poopy, hope you feel better soon. ok need to go relax in bath, feeling all sore. xxx

Hi girlies & bumps, thanks for all the birthday wishes. Zoe - Hope you are feeling better this evening and the sickness has gone. Loocy - I can't believe you lost 2 stone as soon as you had your baby, had you gained alot of weight in that pregnancy? Rach - Beanie doesn't go mad yet when I have a bath. I am so jealous that you have most of your babies stuff already, even if it is hand me downs. I seem to have a massive list of stuff to get but we are making a good start now. Oh and I would defo spell it as Leila, as the other girls have said. I am sorry to hear about your dog, at least you will be able to visit your dog at your friends but it must be hard as they become part of the family. Nic - Just been to Babies R Us today and they had the Pistachio still in stock even though it says out of stock on the website. I bought the 3d and carseat to match. It didn't look too hard to fit the seatbelt and I would mostly leave the carseat in the car I think and maybe occasionly put it on the pram. I reckon I will need some practice on how to attach everything and put it up and down though! Great news that DH has now felt bubs kick. Beanie is kicking away whilst I type, I think it is having a mad half an hour. Cheryl -Pm'd you hun. I hope you are feeling better today. x Ali - I hope you are feeling better today. I really feel for you with being unable to sleep. Have you been to the Dr's about it? Jenni - Your poor wrists hun. Is it caused through being pregnant? Ellie - That is great news that Stickle is ok. Can't wait to see your scan pic. Teri - Glad midwife appoinment went well, did she have some good advice for you on headaches? Nat - I have also ordered the Ollie and Molly range from Next, it is gorgeous! I managed to get a few bits from the shop and I ordered the rest online yesterday so it should be delivered tomorrow. Only problem is we have a big window and the curtains aren't wide enough so I will have to get some cream ones to match the set. My back hurts alot if I go out shopping / walking for more than an hour and then I have days when my back is fine. I hope someone has some suggestions that can ease the pain for you. Lisa - Thank god I copy my message several times during typing as I just lost it and I would have had to retype this whole message! Anyhoo, You are in the wars hun. Do you sleep with a body pillow as that could help you. I also get blood when I blow my nose but I haven't had a full blown nosebleed since early pregnancy. I wouldn't worry about having the carseat as with a little practice I am sure you will be fine putting it in and out of the car. The Silvercross 3D pram is lovely. What colour have you ordered? I hope I haven't missed anyone. We are in the middle of getting our loft boarded so the house is a tip but it should be finished tomorrow. I had a Mum To Be massage on Tuesday and it was lovely and relaxing. My stupid new laptop. I will be typing and then the curser will suddenly jump higher up so I continue to type in where I have already typed something. I don't know if the laptop needs to go back or if I am catching something as I type. Any ideas, as it is doing it constanly and it is really starting to p*ss me off? Ange x
