HI, we've not yet started trying for a baby yet, but will be over the next few months hopefully!
I'm a currently a size 24 and I got thinking about how this would effect my husband being able to feel our baby kick and move about. Can anyone tell me if being a larger lady stopped your partner / husband from feeling the baby when it kicked or did it not have any effect on this at all? I just don't like the idea of my husband missing out on this part of us having a baby just because I'm larger.
Sorry for it being a bit of a personal question.
Thanks
Fimss.

hi there im not a larger women but i have a neighbour who is, im not sure what size exactly.I always remember her telling me about her feelng the baby kick and i think her husband could feel it in the later mths when the baby was bigger.I do think that the smaller you are the more you feel it.But dont let that worry you im sure you and your partner or husband will feel it too, theres more important health issues to worry about but i know how special it is to feel the baby move and share it with your other half but you'll proberly find that he'll not be as interested as you think not as much as you. my husband feels the baby every now and then but is mostly interested in the tv. I hope that you have fun trying to conceive and i hope you dont worry if it takes some time it took me 4 mths to get pregnant this time good luck!!!

I am 35 weeks today, and I am a larger lady, size 20-24 and my baby has been kicking and moving now for at least 6-8 weeks that I can remember and my husband has not only felt the kicks but lately has seen my stomach ripple when she kicks.
There are times when I tell him to feel and she'll stop (think she does it on purpose!!!) and not do it, then when he moves his hand she starts again, so don't worry about you husband not being able to feel anything, the chances are slim of him not feeling anything, it'll more likely depend on how active your baby is.
Hope this helps you out, and good luck!!!!!!

Hi i've just found out i'm pregnant for the second time, i'm a size 26. When i had my first daughter though not this big at first, the time i got to 20 weeks i could feel her kicking and so could my husband. I don't think you need worry!

You needn't worry. I am a size 20 - 24 (aged 39) expecting my fourth (and I have been smaller for each previous pregnancy) I wondered the same as you are but am delighted to say that it has made no difference. Not only can my husband feel the baby kick (especially when we lie like spoons in bed and he gets kicked to kingdom come in the back - hee hee - well, why should I be the only one that gets less sleep!!) but you can also see my belly jump from across the room. It'll be sod's law though - when you put his hand on your belly he/she will lie still and not do anything!!
I am now 31 weeks and my C-Section is booked for 1/9/04 so unless something happens prior to that (which it didn't for all the others) that's when my 'Little Bill' will be putting in an appearance.
Oh and like one of the other mothers said, if it doesn't happen straight away, don't fret. I had my first two naturally, fertility treatment for the third (which I lost) and then fertility treatment for my last. This one was a total surprise considering I was supposed to be no longer ovulating - so don't worry - it'll happen (even against the odds, sometimes!!)
All the best!! xx
