I am 5+5 days pregnant and I woke up this morning to go to the loo and realised that I was bleeding but only a small amount, it is very dark and no clots in it (sorry tmi) it is not as heavy as a period and I am in no pain but very confused what to do.
I called NHS Direct and they said a nurse will call me back.
I don't want to wake my DF as he looks so peaceful and wouldn't want to worry him.
I don't think the hospital will do alot on a bank holiday as I think they don't scan on those days.
Please help

sory to hear what is happening, this could be some late implantation spotting that is coming away, right now all you can do is drink plenty of water to keep hydrated and rest as much as possible. Only time will give you answers. If you get any sharp pains/cramps, ie in your shoulder blades or abdomen then you need to see a doctor but I am sure the NHS direct nurse will explain this to you. I hope it settles and all is well.

Jen I would be more worried if it was bright red blood the blood you say is dark so it might ne something and nothing. I had bleeding with Adam 12 weeks into my pregnancy and it was horrid, he is nearly 7 now and so at this stage I would say try to not worry, hopefully bubs is just fine. Keep me informed. x

I spoke to the nurse at nhs direct and she said it could be implantation bleeding and didn't really know alot else so I rang the emergency doctor line and the on call doc called me back and said that it could be just a period bleed and if I get severe cramping then go to A&E but they cannot do alot as it is a bank holiday but I need to go to my doctor first thing in the morning even if I am not in any pain and the bleeding has completely stoppped so that he can arrange a scan.
The bleeding has slowed nearly stopped and nothing seems to be coming out (sorry tmi!) it has started to be a bit more reddy though but not like period blood.
I managed to wake up stephen at 8:30 with all my tapping on the comp and now he keeps saying sit down but I am so stressed out that I can't sit still.
I have had an upset stomach but the doctor didn't seem too worried about that.

I hope that you are ok, your upset tummy might be cos you are stressing at the moment? I was teh same and I feared the worse, if there is no pain and the bleeding has almost stopped this could be a good sign that it will be ok. I hope that you will get a re scan and all will be well. xx GET WELL SOON with your tummy and bubs STAY PUT!

Try and relax, as the doc said the time to reallhy worry is if there's pain, i had a brown sticky (TMI, I know) discharge about that time and was told by my gp that it was the embryo embedding in and setting up home!
Fingers crossed that it's nothing more sinister

Hi Lorraine - I'm sorry to hear that your back is bad again, make sure you are using your crutches to help and go and see the doc tomorrow to see if he can refer you back to the physio.
SORRY TMI ALERT! I have no fresh blood in my knickers but have really red blood inside, could this possibly be from earlier or could it be new blood coming through.

Hello - Just came back from A&E and I saw a lovely nurse who said that dark blood or even bright red blood is fine but if it is pink then they would start to worry. I then saw the Doctor and as the bleeding has totally stopped and I have no pain or discomfort he presumes that everything is absolutely fine and sent me home. I feel as if my mind has been set at ease now thank god and I will be able to sleep tonight!
I am having a scan on friday and they said they won't move it forward as they won;t be able to see anything until I am 6 weeks, which will be wednesday but they still wouldn't move the day!

Just to echo what the others have said really. I had similar with both my girls (interesting enough not with my son!!) and went for early scans with both!! Turned out to be implantation bleeds on both counts. Try not to worry too much and fingers crossed for Friday.
Keep us posted.

Sorry to hear you are going through all of this worry. If anyone at a&e had been concerned i am sure they would have said so please try not to worry too much before your scan. I know it's easier said than done though.
Well it has now turned into a pinky discharge, still no pain what so ever and there was a tiny clot so I am in panic mode now. My poor DF is not sure what to say for the best, he has been sooo supportive today. I think I will ring the Early pregnancy Unit forst thing tomorrow and ask for a scan. Would they be able to see if it is a threatened misscarriage this early on? I will be 1 day off from being 6 weeks pregnant so surely they will be able to see something. I am tearing my hair out!

Cookiemonster - Thank you for your kind post. I called the EPU and spoke to the sonographer that did my scan a week and a half ago. I explained that the nurse from A&E said don't panic unless it turns pink and she said she still wasn't prepared to scan me unless I was bleeding heavily or in alot of pain, obviously I didn't want to lie so she said I have to wait until Friday as they do not accept self referrals and the earliest I could have a scan would be Thursday if I was in alot of pain.
The bleeding has thankfully stopped. My DF was very relieved this morning but has turned his stupid phone off!
Thank you for your support hun
