Hi ladies

just a quick update. Bria is absolutely wonderful although we do have a tricky period each night at the moment from 7.00pm to 9.00 where she seems to get fussy and doesn't really know what she wants but we keep cuddling and I keep feeding and she seems to settle down. Her daily routine is as follows. She wakes for feed at 7.30am and feeds every two hours and then settles for a sleep untill about 2.00pm where she is awake for a little while after each feed and we get smiles and gurgly stories from her. Then we have the fussy time at 7.00pm and then she goes down for four hours at 9.00pm for some reason untill 1.00am, then its every two hours untill 7.30am again. Unfortunately on Wednesday, I got mastitis and ended up with flu symptoms and one of my boobs was extremely blocked but the doctor gave me antibiotics and I persisted in feeding to clear the blockage and now that has gone and everything is fine but I have to finish the course of antibiotics till wednesday. Brias fussy time has coincided with me taking the antibiotics and the doctor said it shouldn't do anything to her but I'm sure thats what it is. She was four weeks old on tuesday and she was weighed on Friday and she is now 10 lbs and 14ozs which is brilliant. She is on the 91st centile on the weight chart and I am very happy to still be breastfeeding. Shes obviously getting plenty of milk and is thriving.

Hope everyone else is well.

Trad

Hello all

Big congrats to Tia Maria and Kristy!!! Both Beth and Jessica are lovely!! Well done both!

Trad I am so sorry to hear about DH's redundancy. You said a while ago that it might happen - that's rough. Sending you and him my best wishes [Smiler][Smiler].

Sorry I haven't been on here for ages but this laptop gave up the ghost for a while - we do have a new PC but haven't the time yet to set it up. Plus we have had visitors galore and more this weekend too.
Yesterday I met up with a mum who I started to write to on the Cow & Gate website and it was good to actually meet someone I'd written to. If any of you are near Worthing, then we must meet!!

I have photos of James and please email me at mfl4you@yahoo.co.uk if you want to see them. Much easier than trying to use photobucket with a bad connection!

James has nearly doubled his birthweight and is now 8lb 11 oz as of yesterday!! He has started to smile and is a real character.

Well, bottles to sterilise and baby to bath!
Take care all. I think it may be abother while before I am able to get on here.

Love, Starsign xxxx

Hey all

I think the April mums are now too busy to get onto the site at the moment. Just saw your post Tia maria. when you have sex is completly up to you although the advice is that most women wait until their six week check up and contraception is set up again for them, also still bleeding can also be a block. I have not stopped yet even though it is not heavy, I am still contantly wearing a pad and when I go and see my doctor for my six week check up on Friday, hopefully he will put my coil in and I will have to wait another week for the bleeding to stop after that. I have felt ready for sex though but its going to be at least another week after the coil fitting but I might send dh out for condoms if my urges get any stronger. We also have to contend with a baby in the room and three other kids in the house, one of whom is a teenager who loves her new little sister to distraction but the thought that we had to sleep together to make her fills her with disgust. ha ha.

Bria is doing really well. on the 91st centile for weight. She is 5weeks + 5 days and 11lbs and 6ozs. She is a little smiler but we have been giving her gripe water in the evening before her feeds as she was crying abit and now she doesnt do it anymore so it must have done the trick.

couple of photos of the fat beast.

Hey guys

I don't get on a lot these days....Laura is such a non sleeper during the day...it is really hard. She sleeps for a very short time a lot. Today she has actually been asleep an hour! (amazing) Bath must have helped.

Got her weighed on tue and she was 12lb 6oz (5.6kg)..she is doing really well. Feeds so often though..every hour sometimes. She sleeps well at night though...wakes once, feeds and goes back to sleep. My other kids were like this.

I started having sex at 5 weeks..was nervous about the caesar scar..but its all numb now, so it's not a problem.

Take care all!

Tia maria That is a really good weight. Its nice when they are big like that so if they get ill and they aren't feeding, they can afford to lose a bit of weight. Bria is seven weeks tomorrow and she weighs 12lb 6ozs. She is on the 91st centile on the weight chart in the red book. Are you still feeding her yourself, I usually do till they are about 10months to a year. Its just so easy once you get into a routine. she was feeding every two hours during the day and then settling down for the night in her crib at about 9.00pm, going 4 hours till about 1.00am and then every two after that but this weekend, all by herself, she started going from 9.00pm till about 4.00am. Its great and I'm hoping she will stretch it a bit more over the next few nights. She is lovely and contented apart from a touch of colic shes had over the last week at about 6.00pm which we've given her gripe water for which has worked but I think she is over that now. I read you were using camoille and I used that for my first child, it also worked well but I haven't seen it in the shops and Bria doesn't like taking bottles anyway so gripe water in a syringe is good.

Glad everything is well with you and hope all is well with the other mothers as well.

Trad

i have been bottle feeding jessica from the start, i cant explain why but i just felt that breastfeeding wasnt for me - although the midwifes did their best to try convince me otherwise and made me feel very guilty just after id given birth which i think is not very nice! jessica was going 8pm till 3 or 4am but last night we had a 2am 4am and 6 am night was awful lol! the camomile is granules from health food shop that you dissolve in 5ml of water (i mix in tin an egg cup then i use a sryinge to give her it.) its a bit faffy but it works.

we have been trying to get her to go to sleep without been rocked. for last 3 nights we have left her in cot after bath and feed, the first 2 nights she screamed for 20 mins b4 settling down, last night she was quiet for half hour until her dummy fell out and she cried for 5 mins so hopefully its working because it takes ages to rock her to sleep. does Bria just fall asleep? jessica is in the 8th centile - shes going to be obese lol!![Big Grin]

xx
