I'm 27 next month and I've just come off the pill. I have been on the pill for about 9 years and as we want to start trying in about one years time, I decided to come off the pill now.
However, I've broken out in spots and I used to get 1 or 2 spots now and again, but now its like 5/6 spots every week. My skin is sensitive so I scar easily and with every spot, I get a scarred patch on my face....
Does anyone have any advice on any tablets/creams to help get rid of scars and spots ? what about tablets to help my body cope with the loss of hormones from the pill? I am considering going to a beauty therapist for treatment but can only stretch to about 15 for a treatment per week if it was to help my spots. Does anyone have any idea of treatments or creams?
Any advice would be gratefully accepted - if I go to the docs, they will just prescribe anti-biodies which is just more chemicals I do not want! And it does not help with the scarring problem.
Oinks, Piggy.

I know exactly what you mean. I have been off the pill for 4 months now and noticed an increase in spot breakouts. Try taking Evening Primrose oil capsules they are good for helping with hormonal skin! I guess that healthy eating will also help matters.

I have had the same. I was beginning to notice an increase in spots. I have started trying face wash all in one things, but the evening primrose oil sounds like a good idea. I have been off the pill for 2 months now trying for baby no. 1.

Thanks for Lijoh's suggestion of evening primose oil. I am looking for offers on those in the shops at the moment. I never know how much concentration to take like 500mg or 1000mg per day!
I think I will start with a high dose as I have not tried primose oil before.
For WendyH - the problem with putting too much face wash or creams, you end up with a greasy face! Or putting too many chemicals on your face. I am just sticking to a simple skin care routine in order to not upset my skin too much.
Will let you know how I get on with primose oil.
Good luck for trying for your first baby by the way!
Cheers, Piggy.

Re Evening Primrose dosage. I just take 1 per day 500mg. They say you can take up to 3 per day but I find 1 sufficient. My skin only goes a bit blurgh when I'm run down. I have quite oily skin anyway so believe it or not fake tan once a week helps to dry out the oily patches along with a weekly face mask. Just choose your products carefully depending on your skin type and after a bit of experimenting you'll find the right combination.
I am also trying for baby nbr 1!
Good luck all.

Try using after washing, natural tea tree oil neat on the affected areas (don't use around your eyes it stings like mad) its a natural anti bac and it great from washing your hair in too
other things you can use are clearisil spot cream it breaks the spot cycle, drink loads of water also it flushes out all the toxins out your system.
ive suffered with spot since i was 13yrs old but manage to keep the at bay with using the stuff ive listed above.

I'm 22 weeks pregnant and the spots are still coming, the best thing I've found is from the body shop, sage and comfrey gel, it's great and has worked for me even before I was pregnant!!!!!!!
