When I had my daughter 4 years ago, I saw the same midwife all the way through my pregnancy and she delivered my daughter. Back then she was working for the NHS, since then she has gone private. Now the time has come that I would like to have another baby, but feel I can't trust any-one else, apart from my old midwife, She was great.
So, the question is, Can I get some sort of help from health/medical insurance companies to help towards the costs of having a private midwife?
Would be greatful for any info.

Butterfly - I think it would depend on what medical insurance you have. I know mine will not pay anything for anything to do with fertility or pregnancy related illness.
I know what you mean about liking a midwife I lived in a small market town that had a cottage hospital and a small group of midwives each of whom I got to know really well in my first six months. I then developed pre-eclampsia and had to go to the main hospital and had to deal with lots of other midwives. All of them I have to say were really good. I am sure that you would be fine with other midwives if you can't afford to pay for private treatment.
Good luck and babydust to you.

Thanks - It's just I have had so many friends that have had problems during and after childbirth, for example with stitching going wrong ect.... the pregnancies themselves were fine.
I'm just not sure what to do.
Thanks again

What might be a good idea is to speak to that midwife. Ask her if she knows what you can do. She may be able to speak to ex clients and they may be able to pass you onto an insurance company that does cover what you requesting.
Plus here is one site that may cover for private maternity services:
