My husband and I have recently found out we are expecting our first baby and are really exciting, although I am a bit worried about what will happen when i finihs work or have to stop work and we will loose a wage coming into the home. I have always been a worrier about money and am quite concerned about not having enough money coming in anymore. Do you get any help if one wage stop coming into the home or if you both ahve to go back to work and have to pay for child care all day every day. We would appreciate anybodies help on this matter. Thanking you all in advance.

i saw this suggested elsewhere and reading your post brought it to the top of my mind again..
try putting your salary into the bank and living off dhs from now till bean arrives.. it will take adjustment, and things like dining out will be an occasional treat, and don't forget that you'll also be saving on your lunches and travel once your at home.
you can apply for maternity allowance and something else.. it's in an email somewhere if you'd like the info i'll send it on to you.. drop me a line at (muttleym@yahoo.com)
dh and i have already essentially been living on one salary, i don't earn anything in august at all, and even when i'm working i only get about 150 a month

Hi Tabatha, My hubby and I are only living off one wage. Maternity pay is better than when I had my baby in January and there's working tax credits which I find great! I get about 100 odd a month from them, plus family allowance... it's not too bad! If you really want to stay at home, then you CAN survive on one wage. You just have to really tighten your belts, buy cheap food and clothes and accept ANYTHING offered for your baby. If anyone offers to buy you something, tell them what to buy! Take advantage, it really helps! Good luck!
