Oo I'm so jealous that you're all feeling movements. I'm still waiting for mine. Dancing Hippo - the thought of having to wait until 23 weeks is excrutiating!![]
On a better note, my midwife finally got in touch today to make my booking appointment for next week (I'll be in week 17 then). I was a bit surprised as I thought I'd had my booking appointment and bloods taken with the antenatal doctor back in week 12. Hey ho. It means I get out of a meeting I didn't want to go to so I'm happy!! []
I went to Bluewater on Sunday to try and get some maternity trousers as my work ones are getting uncomfy. How frustrating wasthat! [:0] I'm too big for my clithes and way too small for maternity wear!![V]
Anyway, hope all are well. Take care. Pele. [8D]

Thought I'd say hello. Nothing to report really that's why I've not posted. Just quietly getting on with growing baby![8)] Have a definite baby bump now. Have had comments off people at work who I hadn't told so it must be getting obvious! Still getting those funny butterfly/ fishy swimmy feelings in my tummy especially when I lie down or sit. Hope this is baby or there's something very wrong with my belly! Is anyone else having lots of stretching and pulling feelings in their tummy? I suppose it's everything trying to accomodate baby but it can be a bit sore sometimes. I'm not worried but it would be nice to know if this is normal[:I]

Hi all, Yes Sarah that is normal! I feel sort of overstuffed, like when you have a really big meal[)] My bump is also rock hard sometimes, like it is all baby. DH recons he is going to be big. I am getting really big now. I can still wear my jeans and |don't look huge but I am in maternity wear for work and look enormous. no one could not realise I was pregnant that's for sure[:I] I am so much bigger than I was with DD I can't believe it and she was 8lb 4oz! I hope I am a bit early to be honest because I really dont want a 9 or 10lb baby[:0]
Anyway, must go, I have been at work for nearly an hour and haven't done any work yet[:I]

Hi all, I've nothing new to report but wanted to bump the thread up to page one and ask a question. I've got my first MW appointment on Tuesday. I had all the paperwork through yesterday about the blood tests etc and it reminded me to prepare any questions I may have. Trouble is, I don't really have any. Can anyone suggest anything I should be asking? Are there any specific tests I should ask for? Hope you're all well. Pele. [8D]

Well my list of questions were along the lines of; Is it ok to go on holiday at 26-27 weeks? Can I streak my hair? Can I use fake tan? Can I take anything for hayfever? Can I use eyedrops? Nothing really about the baby, but made DH laugh at how shallow I am!!![)]
Hope you are all well.
Lots of love, xxxxxx

hope everyone is well and enjoying their growing bumps! Pele, I think the MW will do the normal blood test for Downs/Spina bifida, but only if you want it. You could also ask to get your blood checked for hemoglobin/iron levels, as women often get anaemic, although iron suppl are not always a great idea (healthy diet better!). Also bring urine sample, for sugar/protein levels. You might also ask questions such as: should you take/avoid any vitamin/mineral supplements, and about general medications you can take (e.g. skincare such as anti-spot creams), and about any weird pains/cramps you have (if you do), just for reassurance. Some MWs know a lot, others not i find. Also you could already ask about birthing options, i.e. pool, TENS etc.
Hopefully you'll get to hear baby's heartbeat, that's a real mood-lifter![]
Sarah, i also have lots of stretchy/pulling feelings down my sides, esp. when getting up or when sneezing, it's weird but normal i think. Has anyone else started feeling more out-of-breath than normal? Even when walking upstairs quickly!!
Have nice weekends everybody,[8D] Axxx

Since your booked with Greenwich midwives (Tudor team, I imagine), they'll give you your big folder (a complete pain to lug around with you I have to say [xx(]) and you'll prob think of questions to ask while they're talking to you. If not, you can always wait till the next appt or give them a ring. They're pretty good.
I've emailed you at your hotmail addy but not got a reply - did you get my email?

Just to say I am 27 weeks pregnant with a girl and due 18/8/05 and I feel out of breath quite a bit. I have read that it is normal, so try not to worry too much.

Just to show you're not a shallow sole what were your midwifes answers to your questions on hair streaking and fake tan? I'm feeling sorry for myself at the moment with no distinct "bloom" so think I might need to take matters into my own hands.
Hopefully I'll cheer up on Thursday though when I have my 21wk scan.

If you want to use fake tan and have your hair streaked, you go for it girl![8)] I'm going on holiday next week and don't want to look like a lanky haired bag of flour so I am applying fake tan liberally and had my hair highlighted last weekend. I did ask my hairdresser if it was ok and she said that if you use foils then none/ hardly any of the colour touches your scalp so your body won't absorb any of it. As for the fake tan, all you are doing is colouring the top few layers of your skin. It doesn't penetrate any further than that - your skin is a very effective barrier![)] I think we should all have our little pampering sessions even though we are mums to be. I'm sure there will be little enough time after the birth to treat ourselves!
Happy pampering everyone, Sarah x[]

It will actualy look like a little human. Not going to find out the sex though, thought it might give me something to push for when i'm in labour if i don't know what it is!! Am really showing and when i've eaten, i look huge! Not compared to what i'll look like in a month or two i'm sure.

Hi Emy and welcome to the october mums thread![8)] You're a week ahead of me, I'm 18 weeks. Glad your friend introduced you to the site, everyone is really helpful and full of great advice. Are you a first time mum to be like most of us here?

Hi, Yep, first time and i can't wait, just want October to come along. The friend who introduced me only has 8 weeks to go and she said it will fly by. I must say the last few months have gone quite fast. Sarah, are you going to find out the sex of yours? Emily

Hi ladies, Thanks for your replies. Yes I am with the Tudor team and yes I got a big folder. Didn't really think of any questions other than the hayfever one (she told me to see my gp so I've got an appointment next week). She took a couple of extra blood tests (already had the iron one done first time but she wants to keep an eye on it) and I gave a urine sample. est of all I got to hear the heartbeat. [] I bought a prenatal monitor but didn't really know what I was listening for. Now I know!![] Clothes are getting tighter by the day but still not looking pregnant when clothed.[] All in good time I guess. How's everyone else doing? All well and good I hope. Take care, Pele.
