Hi,

I'm thinking of starting Cambridge Diet next week as I have rapidly been gaining weight and would like to lose at least 2st before getting pregnant again. I know the quickest way is to do VLCD and I really want to get pg ASAP so want the quickest weight loss - if that makes sense!

Just wondering if there were any health problems getting pg whilst doing VLCD? That's my only worry - I've just had one m/c with my first pg and am worried that if I get pg whilst doing VLCD then it might have an adverse affect. Did the docs advise you of anything when you got pg?

Thanks for your help!

My doctor never knew I was doing a VLCD, I had no health problems so I didn't need a doctor to sign the forms or anything. I do know that you should stop the VLCD if you think you might be pregnant though as it can be harmful to your baby as can any strict dieting. I don't really have an answer for you but if you think loosing weight will be better for you in the long run to getting pregnant maybe it would be best if you to do a VLCD & put the baby making on hold for a month or something - you will loose the weight in no time on a vlcd & if it makes you feel happier in yourself then it makes you happier in the bedroom with less stress!

Maybe pop over to the weight loss forum & ask one of the CDC for some advice, they should be able to help you with more info on the vlcd & pregnancy.

Good luck either way! [Big Grin]

I'm doing Lipotrim and, whilst I'm not actively trying now, we're not being that careful. We will be actively trying in a few months when I will hopefully have lost a few stone. I'm a bit nervous about being on a vlcd and the possibilty of being pregnant on it in the future but think that the benefits of me being slimmer and healthier are worth it, also the diets are meant to contain all the vitamins, minerals that you need. I am taking an extra prenatal supplement with folic acid just in case. I think I'm probably getting more nutrients on the diet than I did before!

Hi Stacey

I did lighter life last year and lost 2 stone in about 6 weeks, doctor said it wasn't advisable to do that ind of diet whilst being pg as it onbly gives you 600 calories a day. I'm now 15 weeks pg and desperatly trying to keep my weight to sensible levels coz I now if I gain too much it'll be harder to get off after baby. I had the WW cook book and doctor told me I'm allowed to carry on with that during pg as it is a healthy balanced diet.

I'd say, that if your gonna do something drastic, do it now before you fall pg and once you actively start trying for a baby again just don't be so strict with your self once you've ovulated just in case.

It really weird but when I did the lighter life it seemed to kick start my metabolisim and even after the short time I was on it I found it was easier to loose weight.

Good luck hun

Thanks gals. I'm going to do Cambridge Diet for 4 weeks between next Tues and when we go to Italy in July. After that I'll see how I get on. I'm going to still TTC if I O and if I do end up pg then I will stop doing the diet and go on to Weight Watchers or Slimming World.

Hiya,

I got pregnant last year whilst doing LighterLife and they told me to stop immediately because its not advisable to have such a low amount of calories whilst pregnant. Best thing to do is do it if you want leading up to falling pregnant and then whilst pregnant just eat healthily. I think you can actually still be a member of slimming world whilst pregnant and they help you adjust the plan accordingly, basically its just healthy eating I think.

Good luck!

Gemma

Ps, Lighterlife is riddiculously expensive now, i'm going to do cambridge I think now to shift the rest of the pounds!

Thanks Gemma. I've decided to do Cambridge diet for 4 weeks until my hols on 15th of July, unless I fall pg before then in which case I will come off it. But basically I'm going to do it until I fall pg or get to a weight I'm happy with. I'd ideally like to lose about 3st but am hoping to get pg again quickly so any weight loss would be a bonus!

Hi ladies

OK, so mayb e I shoul have searched for this thread before starting one about this very topic!

Apologies in advance if you have already read or replied to 'Lighterlife and pregnancy' thread!

Im on day 115 of Lighterlife. From 15st 7 to 10st 13ln in that time. Aiming for 10st mark. Had 2 miscarriages..one last august, one january. Comfort ate like you wouldnt believe and piled on the stones, nevermind the pounds! Weight gain and blaming my obesity for miscarriages encouraged me to embark on VLCD.

I now think that I MAY be pregnant, have been very careful when love making up until last Thursday. Id had a few vodkas (naughty blip on VLCD) and became somewhat relaxed...hub and I have been quite excited at prospect of being pregnant again..

Should I stop VLCD NOW even though I dont know if I am pregnant...would it be safe to keep on the VLCD until i find out Im pregnant. I have an early response test ready and waiting for the week before period is due..

Any advice would be greatly received.

Cheers ladies...recognise some of your names from my daily activity on the weight loss forum! That forum has really kept me going..its been great! Who knows may soon be popping over to this one?[Wink]

Hi Nic,

I'm starting Cambridge on Tuesday after I come back from a weekend in Scotland. I had a miscarriage a few weeks ago and have put on about a stone since then through comfort eating! [:0] I'd ideally like to lose 2st before getting pregnant again. I'm planning on doing Cambridge until I get a positive test or until I reach goal - whichever happens first!

It's really up to you whether you stop VLCD now or not....if it were me I'd probably continue until I had a positive test. But that's only me - I'm not telling you to do that!

I would phone and discuss it with your doc or your VLCD counsellor.

xx

Hiya Laurie, again!

I'm not stalking you honest[Big Grin] I'm also on CD! I changed from LL.

I was overweight with both my pregnancies and put on loads with both babies, any excuse to eat! I've lost 6 stone in 4 months. I would most definitely watch what I eat if I do go on to have number 3 but I want to lose another 3 stoneish and enjoy being slim for a while before I embark on pregnancy again, maybe![Big Grin][Big Grin]
