Just read back my post and Faiza's reply which made me realise that i sounded like i was saying it's OK to be on a VLCD (VLCD) when pregnant. Don't think i made myself clear that if you do get a BFP then you should come off the diet straight away.
I mentioned about adding a meal with protein because this is how you come off the diet because it would be too much for your body to go from eating 500ish cals to 1500 in one go. The important thing is to slowly introduce food so that you get out of ketosis.
Whilst you are pregnant you should definately NOT diet at all. Even though slimming world is supposed to be safe it still doesn't seem right to me. The average eater needs between 200 and 500 cals extra when pregnant and that is what to aim for.
I have tried every diet under the sun in the past, none of which have worked in the long term. I ended up in tears at my GP's saying that i desperately wanted to lose weight but despite the fact that i know crap food is bad for me i couldn't stop over eating. He agreed that i needed cognitive behavior therapy to help me get in control but that there was nothing available on the NHS in Oxfordshire!!
So i looked into what i could pay for and found LL - lose the weight quickly and have CBT in a group session and it is the most amazing experience. It isn't for everyone, it is very hard work but it is a fascinating journey.
Anyway, back off my soap box!! Good luck, i also agree that doing a well known sensitive test is the best thing, Clearblue, Ealry Response or Tescos are all sensitive enough to give you an accurate answer a couple of days before your period is due. Good to find out asap so that you can kick yourself out of ketosis and have a happy healthy pregnancy [
